My recent visit to Olen & Steen near Oxford Circus left much to be desired. From the moment we entered the establishment, it was evident that the customer service fell short of expectations. The girl at the counter appeared disinterested and half-asleep, despite it being mid-afternoon. Her unfriendly demeanor made the ordering process uncomfortable, especially considering we only asked for four items.
Unfortunately, the issues didn't end there. The quality of the food also left something to be desired. My chocolate swirl, which I had been looking forward to, was disappointingly hard and clearly not fresh. Additionally, my boyfriend has a nut allergy, and when we asked the staff member to check the ingredients, she took an unreasonable amount of time to review the papers. It was apparent that she lacked confidence in her actions and didn't seek assistance when needed.

Their pastries are sublime, with the cinnamon social slice standing out for its flaky texture and wonderful spice infusion. The selection of sandwiches and salads are also a treat, providing a tasty, fresh option for lunch.
The Eastcastle branch is bright and inviting, with friendly staff who are always ready to assist. Despite being in a bustling location, the bakery maintains a tranquil and relaxed atmosphere.
In summary, Ole & Steen provides an exceptional dining experience with its wonderful Danish bakes, warm ambience, and excellent service. Perfect for a quick breakfast, a leisurely lunch or for picking up some pastries for the road. Highly...
Read moreHave been a fan and loyal customer of Ole & Steen since their very first days of opining in London.
But this location, avoid. The staff's enthusiasm matches the energy of a sloth on a Monday morning. It's like entering a joyless vortex where eye contact is a rare commodity, and polite gestures are apparently an endangered species. The morning ambience? Picture a funeral parlour, but with great snacks.
The star players in this theatric display of customer disservice include a woman channeling her inner Vicky Pollard, and another who could easily pass as the disgruntled mob wife mourning her cat's mysterious disappearance. It's a real circus of indifference. And surprise, surprise, I'm not the only one witnessing this tragicomedy. It seems the lack of customer love is a recurring theme in other...
