I recently visited Philomena's, hoping for a relaxing evening out, but was sorely disappointed by the overt political statements plastered across the establishment. Instead of a welcoming atmosphere, I was met with a barrage of flags and symbols that seemed out of place and unnecessarily divisive.

The establishment prominently displays the Palestinian flag and a version of the Pride flag, turning what should be a neutral social venue into a political statement. While everyone is entitled to their opinions, I visit pubs to unwind, not to be reminded of contentious political issues.

Philomena's would do well to remember that it's a place for relaxation and socializing, not a platform for political activism. Until they reconsider their decor choices, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

UPDATE 29/07/2024

Based on the owners response here is my response to you little brainless man

Your response is quite something. I'm amazed at your ability to twist a simple review into an opportunity for a personal attack and political rant. It’s good to know that Philomena's is more interested in shoving its political agenda down customers' throats than providing a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.

I didn’t come to your pub for a lecture on geopolitics because clearly you know nothing just as anticipated. Your condescending attitude and lack of professionalism are truly astounding. It’s clear that Philomena's isn't the place for anyone who doesn't share your exact worldview and SHAME ON YOU!

On top of that, the food is tasteless and not worth the money. It seems that Philomena's can't even deliver on the basics of good hospitality and decent cuisine.

Thank you for making it abundantly clear that this establishment isn't worth anyone's time or money. Rest assured, I won’t be coming back NEVER and I'll make sure others are aware of the kind of "service" they can expect at Philomena's.

Best of luck with your...

We called in for a pint, I handed back mine, there was a smell and a bitter tang off it, she put the same drink into a different glass, I sipped it again and said it was the same taste, she offered me a different beer, the one I chose was more expensive and she wanted the extra 50p, so I chose a different one, although my second pint was a little better, it wasn't much better, then another young bartender proceeded to 'DROP' bottles into a skip making a huge racket and anyone sitting in the area we were in looked around to see what was happening. We didn't finish our drinks at £16 for the two pints and left to go across the road to a much better and friendlier bar. Won't be back. So it seems Claudio wasn't at all happy with my review and wants me to eat McDonalds (yuck) and drink in other bars with my imaginary friends. Claudio in the school I attended, 20 minus 16 = 4, we gave 20 pounds to the barmaid for 2 drinks, so the pints we had DID cost 8 pounds each and whilst I don't expect pillows to be inserted in your recycling bins, bottles could definitely be placed rather than thrown in, and on a final note, if you spent as much time cleaning and maintaining your beer lines rather than trying to be a smartarse on social media, you could well have gotten a more positive review!!! ps. Still not...

Came here to watch the football game, and I honestly had such a great time. The vibe of the place is exactly what you want in a sports bar—fun, energetic, and packed with fans who are clearly there for a good time. Tons of TVs everywhere, so no matter where you sit, you’ve got a great view of the game. Big plus for that since it’s frustrating when you have to crane your neck or sit in the wrong spot at other places.

Food really surprised me—in the best way. We got onion rings, burger, and chips, and every single thing was tasty. Rings came out hot and crispy, burgers juicy with great toppings, and the chips were fresh, hot and crispy. Pair that with their beer selection, which was pretty huge and included both local brews and the classics, and you’ve got the perfect game-day setup.

The service was just as good as the food and drinks. Staff was super friendly, kept checking in without hovering, and never left us waiting long. Between the atmosphere, food, drinks, and service, this spot nailed it. Definitely somewhere I’ll be coming back to, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a...

This Irish bar is a mystery. The total number of ales available at the time of my visit was zero. Based on the number of badges that were turned around, they never have more than one on and i would be amazed if it is ever that many. At £6.10, the Guinness is hideously expensive. There are plenty of signs giving you the WiFi password, but why bother when the reception is so poor and often the IP address cannot be obtained. There's minimal decor and there's no atmosphere. Why does anyone come here when there are several much better places nearby? I admit I've not tried the food.
