PizzaExpress — Restaurant in London

Terrible from start to end, and don't go there with kids. We went there 2 weeks ago after completing a tour about the great fire of london, my son insisted on going to Pizza express so we went. We ordered a kids menu for him , just a starter for me (no main), a bowl of plain pasta with butter for my daughter who is under 2 and a Pizza for my wife. My starter arrived quite quickly so as my son's starter from his menu. I waited for the other dishes to be served as usual except they did not come. Over there it's starters first and mains after, i even heard from the staff that they can't serve the mains until the starters are finished. 20mn after not seeing the rest of the food turning up i ask if we can have the pasta for my daughter as she's rather hungry. The waitress starts by telling us we should have asked for everything to come at the same time (seemed logical to us given what we ordered but it wasn't apparently) then goes and seemingly asks for my daughter's main and the rest of the food. 15-20 minutes later still nothing, i ask again to someone else who seems to have no idea and tell us , rather annoyed, that it's going to take 5 more minutes. Pasta turn up almost an hour in, they're dark yellow and overcooked if not burnt, we send them back. They bring us another plate this time it's still dark yellow but undercooked, pasta is rock hard. Staff can't really be bothered and finds the dish completely normal. At some point the manager comes barely apologetic and explains they can't cook pasta without sauce as they cook them in it... ??! Never heard that before in any restaurant but maybe they could have told us and just say they could not do it instead of serving us this rubbish. What was supposed to be a quick lunch ended up in being a long and frustrating nightmare ruining our plans for the rest of the day. Never going back there and probably neither in any other...

I would have given 0 starts if i could but i wanted to share my pathetic experience whith everyone so that no one goes there to ruin their day/night. Waiter name “LUCAS” has so much attitude problem he was so rude to me and my friends and suchha racist guy with so much anger issues. Me and my friends were waiting patiently to be seated when it was already quiet this guy came to us and said abruptly “Table for 4 right, wait” rolled his eyes and went. he took his time and after ages came to us and picked up 2 menus and started walking assuming we will follow at this point we were not even expecting a polite behaviour from him but then he threw the menus on the table where the napkins from the table flew off and pointed the table out to us as if we were some dogs and then he left. I got so offended i said “excuse me” he said “ what!” and it was embarrassing as well as few of the customers on another table were gigling at this stupid behaviour. Then me and my friends decided to leave immediately. I asked the bartender this waiters name he said and i’m mentioning again “Lucas” and while we asked for the manager and waited for her to come we saw lucus chatting with the customers about us right infront of us and smirking. When the manager came this guy was uncontrollable by the manager itself and started arguing and wouldn’t let us speak. This is such an unacceptably unprofesional behaviour from a pizzeria like pizza express, i used to go to pizza express alot before but now never again. Then i went to the restaurant right opposite to it and the staff there was super nice and polite(how it should’ve have been at yours as well)

If no action will be taken against this matter soon i will for sure file a...

Worst experience: Had been to the restaurant yesterday with my family but the staff judge and treat as per your ethnicity (we are from India). Anyways, we came out of restaurant after waiting for around 15 mins when they provided us with a table. Here is the my experience there. Entered restaurant with family around 4:15 PM and we were asked to wait at the entrance until they prepare table for us. The restaurant was empty with only 3-4 tables occupied and we were called in after 5 mins. Although the restaurant had many tables with no reservations, we were provided with a table next to the toilets. I believe the person who provided us with table did it on purpose without even escorting us until the table. He pointed and asked to take that table and left off. The sun rays directly hitting the table and the staff didn’t even considered to roll down the blinds nor ensured if we are comfortable. Disappointed with the table, we still occupied it. While I was going through the menu, my parents utilised the washrooms and returned back to table. we decided on the menu, waited for someone to take order but no one turned up. I walked around to find someone who can take up the order but none of them turned to me to ask if i need something. with frustration, we all walked out of the restaurant.

I thought of speaking with the staff and letting them know about the way we were treated, but since i had my parents who are aged and we wanted to eat something and go back soon, didn’t wasted our time on this. Anyways we had a meal in another restaurant nearby.

Hope they learn to treat fairly and equally to everyone irrespective of their ethnic background...
