I am going to give a very honest review because unfortunately the experience was really let down. Shared a bruschetta starter but I can’t recommend it at all unfortunately. It has little flavour. Nothing like you would get in Italy unfortunately and it’s one of the simplest things to make. The crab pasta of the day was delicious even if it cost £32 and the portion still left me hungry. Tiramisu was a small portion and the panna cotta was average. What really let the review down was the lack of service and the reaction from what I can presume was a manager or superior of the restaurant when we asked to pay less of the service charge because of this. We had to clean our own table after the pasta dish and before the desert, and it was hard to get any attention at all to our table to order. When we asked to pay less of the optional service charge, the server was clearly visibly annoyed, and ignored us for the rest of the night - including when we left and said goodbye. It made all 3 of us extremely uncomfortable and it really ruined the mood of the night. We were not asked why, nor did he express any concern to understand what was lacking and it was extremely unprofessional. Just a real shame that the bill came to £177 and for requesting to pay £12 (optional) service charge instead of £22, we were met with this...
Read moreHugely disappointing. We had yet to try Satyrio even though we live 5 minutes walk away. The garden looked very inviting and the reviews on TripAdvisor were overwhelmingly positive. Frankly, for the amount charged, it was abysmal. The setting is very nice but doesn’t compensate for all the negatives. Our waiter twice tried to persuade us to choose more expensive glasses of wine. The less expensive options were perfectly fine. The appetizers were enjoyable rather than memorable. We then had to wait for well over an hour before someone came along to ask us if we ‘were ready for our main course’, which we had ordered when we arrived. The restaurant was not particularly busy but there was another long interval before the mains arrived. We had the impression that they had forgotten about us, and then subsequently forgotten about our meals which I’m assuming had been left on the counter. Parts of both meals (clams, mashed potato) were, at best, tepid although I’m pretty sure they were not meant to be. Portions were small, cost high. We left feeling disappointed, ripped off, and perplexed by the...
Read moreWalking past this place for years I have always been curious about it. Finally we tried it. The veal ragou pappardelle were excellent, fresh pasta, al dente, good ragou, not minced beef but chunks of veal, very nice. The clams mallorredus were good, good pasta, cooked right and fresh clams. 1 amaretto tiramisu, shared, good. I like the fact that they also sell wine as a wine shop/ wine merchant on the side. However some things I liked less: the ambience: plastic plants; average furniture and a lot of light didn’t create much atmosphere. Most of all I didn’t like the prices: one shouldn’t really pay 25£ or 29£ for a dish of pasta, even if it’s the best on the menu, which ours was. For two pastas, 1 spinach, one tiramisu, one large glass of wine and one bottle of water you almost spend 100£. I think there is some space for improvement, considering that there are plenty of alternatives for Italian food. The place was almost empty, which is a shame because the food is great. The whole experience...
