30/9/23 following up from your reply earlier, im still shocked you said i asked for beef. I've been vegan over 10 years, i clearly know that beef comes from a cow. Please do not insult my intelligence !!!!!! You say We do advise that, customers be aware when ordering, because burgers can come as a vegan or meat* Let me tell you i was advised of no such thing. Yes a refund was given, only after myself and my colleagues made a fuss, and other people were looking. I'll post my experience on the Vegan UK group, to avoid this happening to anyone else. We will now be going to the Running Horse for all future work related events. Had a really bad experienced on Wednesday. Went for retirement lunch from work. Ordered a vegan burger, clearly marked vegan. Had one bite and had to send it back, It was MEAT. When i went back to the counter, it took ages for someone to come out and speak to me. He Said i was asked if i wanted beef or chicken, i said i wasn't asked. He said, well it's your mistake. I asked who i was speaking to, he said his name was Gabby, refused to give me his surname. Asked for his position, he said deputy manager. He told me the staff said i asked for meat. Why would i do that when i clearly said i'm vegan. After much, fuss, he said he'd give me refund, but not make another burger. I had to watch everyone else eat their meal. I wouldnt go back again, Worst customer service. My colleagues said take his photo he said i'm not allowed, just got his hand as you can see. i sent my feedback using the contact form, have not heard back. I'll give it a few more days. OK, i got a refund, but as i said had to watch my colleagues eat....
Read moreA weekday lunch: a meze platter and a few drinks.
Lots of people write stuff in their reviews like 'inedible' or 'disgustin' and so on when writing about their food or experiences. That's strong language- and usually just hyperbole from halfwits who would have more fairly have written - "I simply didn't like ... [whatever it is]"
And it's too strong language for my recent first-time experience at The Duke. I know it's tough to run a place where the vast majority of your business is packed intensely into an almost impossibly small window - the 90 minutes between 12:30 and 14:00 where most people have 50 minutes in which to grab their lunch.
I truly hate leaving food on my plate, but the meze dish, served-up with cheap ingredients, very poorly presented, on that particular day, was so greasy and unappetizing that I preffered to leave 5/6ths of it and go hungry.
This didn't do much to inspire a return visit and I think it is fair to say that the kitchen really does need to excercise some...
Read moreWhat a disappointment.. Walked in all proud that me and the team had had a successful weeks work, Its Friday i've never felt better.. Little did I know, my bubble would be burst by the terrible service here. Took 20 minutes to serve me and then when they did they told at 3:01 they told me that happy hour had subsequently finished.. Looked like it hadn’t been happy hour for months by the look of the expressions on their faces. I asked for Apple juice and she looked at me as if I had just kicked her cat in the face. I had to beg for a chicken burger .. Finally got it.. Or did i ..ended up bringing over a veggie bean burger and trying to convince me i'm vegetarian. After a few minutes of swearing on a oath that I ordered a chickem burger they allowed me to chew my way through it. Any way As I had finished my last chip they came over with the sauces.. I've never walked out of a place so disappointed. Tbh me and the lads are heartbroken by...
