Our experience at Simmons Bank was absolutely terrible. I came with a couple of friends to celebrate one of their birthday’s; the bouncer at the door was being so dismissive and rude towards me and my girlfriend, who’s deaf. When trying to speak to her, he had his scarf over his mouth - although my girlfriend was wearing her cochlear implant at the time and could hear and respond to some of the questions he was asking; the fact that the bouncer had his mouth covered made it tremendously difficult for her to understand: she asked him to repeat on several occasions to certain questions and whenever I tried to speak to the bouncer about putting his scarf down - telling him that my girlfriend’s deaf and needs to be able to lip-read, he said to “not interrupt” him, in addition to purposely continuing to cover his mouth to test if she was actually deaf, in which he then walked off and made an abrasive comment to say that she “is not deaf” - telling us to wait aside as if my girlfriend was too drunk to get in, which was far from true. When me and the bouncer had a one to one conversation, he then realised his mistake and said there’d been a miscommunication (never offered a sincere apology to my girlfriend who was left upset due to his misconduct), however, there was never a miscommunication as firstly, after he had said that my girlfriend is not deaf, I showed him her cochlear implant and she’d even told him that she’s deaf when they were interacting; secondly, whenever I tried to tell him about my girlfriend needing to lip-read, he completely disregarded what I was saying and, as mentioned above, completely humiliated and made my girlfriend feel really uncomfortable by trying to test her hearing disability. Despite the lack of empathy and complete disregard shown from the bouncer, I appreciated how the manager came outside and spoke to me and my friends - telling us that she’d spoken to the bouncer and apologised on his behalf for the situation that unfolded - offering us all to come back to the venue, but unfortunately, my girlfriend didn’t feel comfortable to go so we ended up going somewhere else. Besides the management, I feel like the venue need to re-evaluate who they have as bouncers and have more consideration and empathy towards individuals with disabilities - as not all disabilities are visible at first sight and all venues showed be made to be friendly, accessible and welcomed...
Read moreAVOID like the plague…We had decided to go to the bar to try something different after our team day at work, we arrived and the bar was completely empty so we grabbed some drinks and sat ourselves down to have a catch up and few more drinks. After we had purchased another round at the bar we sat down for a waitress to come over and tell us we have to go as the table was booked, bearing in mind the bar had been empty most of the night and there were no signs on the table at all to say it had been reserved we felt cheated that they had watched us buy drinks most of the night and not at any point mention this. We explained that we would drink our drinks then leave only for a really angry aggressive man to come up to us saying you’ve got to go your only a walk in these people have paid for this table - I don’t care and the icing on the cake was “who are you anyway” like he was Nikki from big brother. He then sent security over to us (group of professionals ladies) to escort us out! The other customers in the bar I think were equally bewildered by the treatment and offered us to join them with many comments of support and they could not believe the treatment. If they had been nicer in their approach we would have most likely been more accommodating, I cannot believe that a man like that is allowed in the hospitality industry. First time at a Simmons bar - I can definitely say last time -there are so many other friendly bars who know how to treat their customers. Still actually cannot believe it we did not feel safe at all with security and the staff - it was only for the lovely customers that made a...
Read moreRE: VERY FILTHY MOUTHED BARTENDER THOMAS
Horrible experience from a well known chain of bars.
Came with a group of colleagues for our end of year Christmas party. All was going well until we had one of our party members being sick and throwing up which then led to the bar staff being completely disrespectful and speaking in a disgusting attitude in order for her to leave the bar.
Main staff member there who was swearing toward us and speaking very aggressively was a filthy mannered THOMAS (guy with dread locks)
We had a booking For 4 hours but within the first Hour or so we were appalled by the way the staff had treated us and we had left the bar even after having quite a large tab.
We were then charged an extra ammount by the staff when we were leaving and not too sure why?
Would really love for someone from management to come back to us on this Please so that we can escelate this as it was completely unacceptable.
I would also recommend you give Thomas the sack before you gain a much worser reputation.
Definitely do not recommend visiting the Bank branch if you are looking to visit one of the...
