“Tashas Battersea Power Station"
Review:
Nestled within the iconic Battersea Power Station, the newly unveiled Tashas branch is a beacon of culinary innovation and comfort. This establishment not only carries the legacy of its South African origins but also infuses it with a local flair, making each dish a discovery.
Upon entering, I was greeted by an ambiance that masterfully blends the industrial heritage of the location with Tashas' signature elegance. The setting is both inspiring and comforting, providing the perfect backdrop for a unique dining experience.
The coffee, as expected, was sublime - a perfect brew that awakened the senses. However, the true revelation was the menu, a vibrant tapestry of flavors that showcases Tashas' commitment to culinary diversity and excellence. Each item on the menu seemed carefully crafted, not just to satisfy hunger but to tell a story, blending South African culinary traditions with global influences.
The food at Tashas Battersea is a testament to the brand's innovative spirit. From the hearty breakfast options that give a nod to traditional South African fare to the delectable lunch and dinner dishes that incorporate fresh, local ingredients, there's a palpable respect for the culinary arts. The menu features unique delicacies that are both a visual and gastronomic delight. Standout dishes like the Peri-Peri Chicken Liver, a South African classic, and the Bobotie Croquettes, a modern twist on a traditional Cape Malay dish, are just a few examples of the menu's depth and diversity.
Service at this branch was impeccable. The staff were not just servers but storytellers, eager to share the inspiration behind each dish, enhancing the overall dining experience with their knowledge and enthusiasm.
Tashas Battersea Power Station is more than just a restaurant; it's a journey through flavors, cultures, and traditions. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the unique fusion of South African hospitality and London's dynamic...
Read moreI went here yesterday as I had heard so many positive reviews about this place. My understanding was that you could not reserve a table. You just have to hope for one. This restaurant is in a prime location. If you find yourself having to wait for a table, you can wander around the many surroundings shops.
I went with a couple of my sisters, and we arrived about something to 7 in the evening and managed to get a table. The first thing I noticed was the bright decor, which was very welcoming. It also looked spacious and clean inside. We ordered our drinks. I had the carrot juice with lime and ginger, and we also had a passionfruit rum drink. I ordered the chicken balls for starters, and this arrived about 30 mins later, to be honest our waiter did say it would take a while but I never thought it would of taken that lenght of time. The chicken ball was disappointing. All we could taste was that sharp lime flavour and nothing more, could not finish this dish. No one else ordered any starters. For the main, we ordered the salmon dish, which was served with black rice, pickled radish, cucumber, and a spicy sauce. I also ordered new potatoes to go with it. I was eager to try the black rice, and it didn't disappoint. I really enjoyed this dish. My sister ordered the steak and eggs, which were accompanied with fries, I thought this was another tasty dish. Which I will probably order next time I visit. I ordered the carrot cake for my desserts, and I found this to be ok. We also ordered the biscoff cheesecake and chocolate gateau. Both were ok, but my preference is the cheesecake. The waiter was intentive and explained a lot of the dishes to us and answered many of our questions. Very knowledgeable. This was not the cheapest of meals but was by far not the most expensive I've had. I would definitely come here again to enjoy more of their fantastic dishes...
Read moreOVERVIEW The best pasta I have ever had at a restaurant so far!
PLUS A 5* level restaurant, table of 2 consensus! The prawn pasta was outstanding at a 5* level. The prawns were fresh, cooked in a flavourful creamy sauce with fresh cherry tomatoes that balance the creamy texture perfectly. The breadcrumb slice of bread was coated with herbs, which added another flavour dimension to an already well-seasoned dish. My friend ordered the prawn curry, a menu favourite, which was also delightfully flavoured and came with complimentary side sauces. The pumpkin fritters were also excellent at a 5* level. It was undoubtedly the best-fried dessert I have ever ordered in a restaurant! I would recommend it to doughnut lovers. Large main meal portion sizes. A main meal order was enough to fulfil and satisfy, table of 2 consensus. Welcoming staff and good service. Staff menu recommendations lived up to expectations. Classy and modern restaurant with a refreshing ambiance. The interior complemented the local area.
MINUS Overpriced: £36 for the prawn curry and £32 for the prawn pasta. On top of an added service charge of 12.5%. The restaurant could benefit from a quick, hassle-free table QR code payment method, i.e., the "Sunday" payments app.
