I was fortunate enough to be working in Rochester Row today… right across the street from the Rochester Café. We had a moment when we were waiting for a delivery, so I took it upon myself to pop into the cafe for a coffee and a bit of cake… but as I walked in, a customer was being served with her full English breakfast and it looked so good, I decided I was going to have one of those!! The two staff members were very accommodating and pleasant. My order was taken swiftly, I was offered a seat and I waited… within 5-10 minutes I was served my full English breakfast with scrambled eggs, a glass full of chilled, freshly squeezed orange juice and an espresso shot! I proceeded to tuck in and was blown away! Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection and tasted sublime!! The scrambled eggs were spot on (only bettered by my own!), the sausages were so tasty… it truly was a culinary delight!! My taste buds are tingling now as I write this review!!! The cafe is set in a not too busy street with a few seats and tables outside and will provide you with an almost Mediterranean experience… sitting with your coffee, watching the world go by. If I lived in the area… I would most definitely be a regular customer of this establishment!! Thank you Ayisha and Reda for providing such great food and service. I...
Read moreOne of the worse breakfast ever. I came across this place because I went to do some blood tests to the clinic, which is opposite their shop. I was fastening so got there really hungry. I just wanted to have a nice time and relax since working life is always so stressful but little I knew that instead of relaxing I would have become even more stressed! First of all, the place stinks of fried food. The window was open so it was also a bit cold but it didn’t make any difference ( l had to wash my hair after going in as well as my clothes!). Second of all, the service is really terrible. We ordered and got our fist drink after 30 mins. I had to chase my drink, by the time my friend got their meal I was still waiting so they had to wait for me and look at me while eating my breakfast, which arrived after I chased it several times. My friend salad was very small and served in a huge plate ( see photo). They could have used a bowl, it would have looked nicer at least. Food quality is not great, it’s fried and burnt with no flavour: after I waited for almost an hour I also had to ask for salt! I complained to the manager and she offered a free drink as compensation, but we didn’t drink it as it was extremely hot and burnt my...
Read moreOverall it was an average experience. Food was quite good.. that’d about the only good thing (thanks to the chef). Cafe server was very scary. I asked to have a sugar in my coffee as it’s being made because I think it tastes better than adding it after. I’ve never had a problem with that small request before. The server looked at me shocked and stated that there’s sugar on our table.
Every time the Chef walked up from the kitchen the cafe server yelled out what table the food was in a very aggressive tone.
The chef brought up food that looked like ours and was starting to walk around looking for the table. I looked at him and pointed to our table. I 100% take responsibility for it but it actually was not our food . I apologised multiple times as the cafe server started yelling at him to go to the right table. I said sorry to the server too before she went out to the kitchen and started yelling at the chef (also heard glass cups break from being thrown).
There is definitely a better way to go about business than this. We felt so bad for the Chef and other customers who had to...
