I had a negative experience at The Sir John Hawkshaw pub earlier this summer (early in July to be precise). When I first placed my order on the Weatherspoons App, it looked like it crashed out and no confirmation of my order appeared on my screen. Assuming that the order had not been submitted, I reordered the meal again. In hindsight I should have checked my email because a message had been sent confirming the first order had been placed, thus I had accidentally double ordered. I don't place any blame on Weatherspoons for that. It was my mistake; however, when I approached a member of the pub staff she refused to cancel the order and reimburse me. Instead, she asked if I would like a take out box for the second order, which was not ideal for me, but at least was an ok solution so I accepted the offer. A few minutes later she came to me and told me the store was out of take out boxes. I was disappointed but respectfully acknowledged the situation, expecting that I would recieve both meals and would at least be able to share the extra meal with my friends. Ten minutes or so later my first meal arrived. After 30 minutes or so my second meal had not arrived, so I found the staff member I had spoken to before and asked what had happened to my second meal. In response she said she had thrown away the meal. I was shocked because she had never told me she would throw away my meal that I had paid for, let alone asked me if I wanted the meal to be thrown away. It does not seem like standard procedure to throw away customers meals without permission. I respectfully asked if I could be reimbursed for my undelivered meal, but she refused. The only thing she would do for me was remake the meal, but that was not a good option at that point in the meal as my friends had already eaten. Therefore I walked away without recieving my money's worth.

I believe it was unfair that I was not reimbursed for the second meal, which was destroyed without my consent or foreknowledge. I submited an offical complaint (requesting a reembursement) to Weatherspoons the next day. Someone from customer service let me know they were going to try to help, but it has been a month and a half since then, and no progress...

Came in for a quick breakfast and decided to go for the large breakfast within about 5 mins my food was with me I took one look down and it became clear why it was so quick the hash browns were almost raw and solid in the middle the sausage also undercooked clear by looking but even cut to look inside when I went back to the bar to explain to the staff member a young male short black hair and glasses and explained my concerns he went so what’s exactly wrong I can see the hash browns are undercooked but the sausage looks fine, sorry if you see the foods undercooked is that not a issue already? I said your welcome to try it your self if you want it’s cold and not cooked for him to reply I don’t want to try it I was just saying he shortly after must of seen sense and said I can offer a refund to which I took as if a chef cannot cook a hash brown then there isn’t much hope for another option is there? Overall decent place for a drink but unless your into undercooked food or have a load of Imodium with you I suggest steering clear of the food if you can call...

Not the best spoons unfortunately. No toilet facilities inside the pub whatsoever. I’ll repeat that no toilet facilities at all. You have to walk over (I kid you not!) 7 (yes! 7!) platforms in Cannon Street station to use the stations toilets! Oh, and when you finally arrive there, it’s two flights down and a further walk! Then you have to walk back! How this place was given a licence is beyond me. The problems this must cause the pub!! I image on a busy football day for example!! Anyway, small spoons, inflated central London prices. We ordered drinks and food. Drinks were delivered quickly. Food was delivered but was lukewarm. Couldn’t be bothered to complain, just wanted to get out of there. Zero atmosphere whatsoever and staff just looked totally uninterested and appeared to want to be anywhere else than working at this pub. It’s really not the best Whetherspoon we have visited. The location, lack of facilities, small unit size just doesn’t work for me. Won’t be coming back...

Nice compact Spoons. Visited for breakfast the day after boxing day, so nice and quiet. Chose to sit outside as the heaters were on full blast and the air inside was stifling. Didn't realise the coffee machine was out of action as we ordered via the app. Managed to get tea with hot water from behind the bar. Ordered 2 Traditional breakfasts. Sausages and hash browns were very hot having been freshly cooked, which was a nice surprise. Toast also was actually nicely toasted and crispy. Staff were lovely. No toilets in the pub, but plenty of clean toilets in the station not far from the pub. Nice place to stop with a view of the trains.

Nice fresh bright airy pub adjacent to the railway platforms on the station. Due to the central location more expensive than most of the spoons I have visited previously. Nice coffee, friendly staff. Spoons #63 ticked off Oh, make sure you go to the toilet before you order, I didn’t and had to leave my table and order to go adjacent platform 7, fortunately all was ok upon my return.
