(Never had food, hence my not commenting on this.)
This is quite an interesting pub perfectly situated right in front of a City of London station. It is underground. The atmosphere is great. Good lighting!
However... they just have no luck with bartenders. I can understand that this is a chain pub. Still, in my some twenty years of drinking in venues I have never ever, ever seen staff holding customers to such contempt. I do not need a smile from them; after all, they are not paid the Minimum Wage for smiling but... if you expect to receive tips by offering a card reader with supposed gratitude, you need to work for. Talk. Be polite. Do not despise us. We contribute to your wage, not Stonegate. Never underpour. Especially, not that visibly. When asked for G&T, JD&C and tequila&soda, do NOT use the very same measuring jugger for all the three liquors. Especially, not in front of the customer who'd ask you. When I asked her if she was using the same jugger, she flatly said 'yes'. I asked her as a prompt, as a hint.
Shame about the venue. The white-trousered, flat-shoed slow barmaid and her silent, not washing his hands after eating food in front of us...
Read moreThe best burger I've had in London. As others have said it's very quirky in the best way. Staff is great they helped me navigate the gluten free menu and they took the extra time. Grilled Halloumi was so fanstic. The Cauliflower Wings we really nice as well.
Since I am gluten free I ordered the Bacon Cheese burger without the bun. It had the crispy bits on the edges and the outside was had that nice burger crunch to it. While the inside was nice an juicy.
One of the best sounding items on the menu was the Philly steak pie. Sadly, they were out of it and my husband didn't get to try.
My husband said that if we lived in London near the pub we could see this as our neighborhood pub. The selection of music playing was awesome. They have darts and very large booths, nice to kick back and have some drinks while hanging with friends.
if you find yourself in the area you mst stop here...
Read moreHa! What can I say... We came, it was quiet (before 5pm). We’ve tried to order some food but the card reader was not working. We were asked to get the cash as we needed to pay for the order to be prepared. We were not pleased and explained that it’s not our fault, we will be here for some time, we can pay as soon as the card reader starts working again. This was not accepted. We did say, if we leave to get the cash, we may not come back. One star. ... and then the barman was so apologetic, so lovely and cool, that I can say it saved the place! Amazing customer service always saves the place, regardless how awful other things can be. We decided to get that cash and give this place a chance- we were not disappointed!! Great great tapas! We now come here regularly. Four and half stars!...
