This pub is an inviting haven, the kind of place where time slows down and the world outside feels irrelevant. The decor whispers of comfort, with warm colours and eclectic touches that make it feel timeless. But something darker is at play here—something you might miss if you only glance at the surface. Look closer. It’s not the pub itself that holds the power. It’s the Guinness. Three pints of it sit ominously on the table, black as night, with creamy heads that glow faintly under the dim light. They’re not just drinks. No, these pints have an energy about them—a presence. The men gathered around them are not enjoying their beers. They are under their influence. Denim Jacket sits in the centre, clutching his Uno cards like his life depends on them. He’s clearly the one the Guinness has claimed first, its dark tendrils pulling him deeper into the game. His face betrays no joy, only focus, as though he’s being commanded by forces unseen. What moves will he make next? It’s not up to him—it’s up to the Guinness. Plaid Shirt sits to his right, trying to fight it. His smile is tight, his eyes darting between his cards and the pint in front of him. You can almost hear the internal struggle: “One more sip,” it whispers. “Just one more, and all will be clear.” But he knows better. Or does he? And what of the others, half in and half out of frame? Their presence lingers like ghosts, partially obscured as though the Guinness has already started erasing them from existence. Whatever grip it has on this group, it’s strong, relentless, and all-consuming. The salt lamp in the centre glows faintly, seemingly in defiance, but it’s no match for the black abyss in those glasses. Even the ketchup and mustard bottles stand like mute sentinels, powerless to intervene as the game continues. This isn’t Uno. This is a battle for control—a battle they’re clearly losing. The pub? A five-star gem.

Stopped by one morning, for a ceramic (or glass) cup of coffee. I didn’t expect it to be good but it was surprisingly good one, the picture has been taken a good 5 minutes after the coffee was served and you can see the foam is actually still pretty creamy. There was a blond female bartender, but even though the others aren’t as experienced in that I found it to be a very good sign for a bar-restaurant to also have a good coffee conception. I haven’t been eating or drinking in this place but having worked about ten years in the sector I think this is a recommendable place, and definitely would go again, it was difficult to find good cappuccinos in London, even in French or Italian places, and due to my frustration, often having to go pay a burned-milk cappuccino 3 - 3.5 £ into paper, I will stress again this cappuccino.. absolutely great.

The Perfect Weekday Spot — Great Vibes, Awesome Snacks, and DJ Thursdays!

I’ve been coming to this pub regularly for the past few weeks, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about it. It’s hands down one of the best spots in the city if you're looking for a relaxed yet vibrant place to unwind after work or catch up with friends during the week.

Weekday Atmosphere: From Monday to Wednesday, the pub has this super chill and cozy vibe. It’s never too loud, which makes it ideal for conversations. The music is well-curated—nothing overpowering, just the right background to enjoy your drink. Whether you’re sitting solo at the bar or grabbing a booth with coworkers, the staff makes everyone feel welcome. They’re genuinely friendly, quick with orders, and always happy to recommend something based on your taste.

Thursday DJ Nights – A Hidden Gem! Thursday nights are an entirely different experience in the best way possible. Around 8 PM, the energy starts to shift as the DJ sets up. The music is fantastic—cool blends of house, funk, and throwbacks that slowly ease into more upbeat tunes as the night progresses. It’s not a wild club scene, but there’s definitely a buzz, and by 9 or 10, people are dancing or at least bobbing their heads at the bar. It’s like the perfect pre-weekend night out without the chaos of a Friday crowd. Such a smart addition to the weekly lineup.

Bar Snacks and Beer Selection – Next Level: The bar snacks here deserve a special shout-out. We tried the scotch eggs and the crispy cauliflower bites (surprisingly addictive), and everything was piping hot and full of flavor. You can tell they put care into even the small bites—it’s not just your typical frozen pub fare.

As for the drinks, the beer list is impressive. They’ve got a rotating selection of local craft brews, IPAs, lagers, and some great seasonal picks. If you’re not into beer, their cocktails are just as good—balanced, creative, and reasonably priced. The bartenders really know what they’re doing.

Overall: Whether you’re stopping by for a quick drink after work, catching up with friends midweek, or looking for a fun Thursday night vibe without the weekend crowds, this pub hits the mark. It’s become a regular spot for me, and I keep recommending it to people. A true gem...

Absolutely loved my visit to the Candlemaker Pub! From the moment I stepped in, I was enchanted by the cozy and inviting atmosphere. The warm glow of candlelight added a touch of magic to the entire place, creating a perfect setting for a relaxed evening.

The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure every guest felt welcomed and taken care of. The menu offered a fantastic selection of both classic and innovative dishes, and I must say, the food was a delight to the taste buds. The chef's attention to detail was evident in every bite, and the presentation was simply exquisite.

Now, let's talk about the drinks. The bar at the Candlemaker Pub is a treasure trove for any beverage enthusiast. The variety of cocktails, craft beers, and fine wines left me spoiled for choice. The bartenders were not only skilled but also passionate about their craft, and their recommendations were spot-on.

Whether you're looking for a place to unwind after a long day or to celebrate a special occasion, the Candlemaker Pub is a top-notch choice. I left with a heart full of contentment and a strong desire to return soon. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and make a trip to this hidden gem—I guarantee you won't be...
