The Sterling in the Gherkin — Restaurant in London

This was an office party & the whole event was a litany of extremely poor customer service. I Asked for a virgin cocktail and I was refused on the grounds that the staff could not go downstairs to get it. I later asked for a coffee & was again refused. However later on and after much fuss and undue stress the coffee was served. The manager was the most unpleasant person on duty. with the exception of one member of staff the rest like their manager were rude and unhelpful. The food was appalling The bland & tasteless Salmon was served with a few slices of scruffy looking bread & the Sea Bream tasted like it was soaked in oil. The seating was cramped & uncomfortable with very gloomy decor to match. Overall this was a very unpleasant place to dine and I would not recommend this for an office/business party as they simpley do not have the customer service skills and...

Had a really great experience at The Sterling in the Gherkin! The highlight of the visit was the lovely American waitress who served us - she was genuinely friendly, super helpful, and really knew her cocktails. I asked for a Cuba Libre, which surprisingly not many people know how to make properly, but she nailed it quickly and served it with a big smile.

Yes, the prices are slightly higher compared to some of the nearby pubs, but honestly, the quality of service made it well worth it. She also took the time to recommend a few food items when I asked, which I really appreciated - will definitely be coming back to try them for lunch!

The good, the staff, nice selection of beers, wines, spirits, outdoor space. The bad, the food, cramped inside. The food is very standard stuff, burgers, etc. We were there about 5:30 and were told that only bar snacks available because they were doing a big order. Have they heard of part time staff? Ordered some over priced bar snacks, the waitress came back to say that they were out of stock of some items. Ordered chips and Ham & Cheese croquettes. The chips were fine.
