There were some not so great interactions with the staff (mostly one in particular). The waitress asked for our orders impatiently as though we were taking up all of her time, and she didn't even write them down. My friend asked what kind of fruit was in the fruit scones and her reply was, "normal ones." They forgot to bring out one of the pots of tea that we ordered. By the time we told them and they brought it out, it was already 25 min past when we got all of our other orders. I would not recommend the coffee and walnut cake, it's not very good. My friends and I were still glad to find this place. The environment is interesting and fun to be in. The rest of the food was wonderful. The Tea Terrace is a nice place to go for some light fare for a reasonable price. It's easy to find and doesn't require reservations, so it's easy to go at a moments notice. Even on a Saturday we only waited maybe 10 min. for a table. In general, the staff did seem attentive and helpful if you wanted to ask them something.

Great place to relax and enjoy a cup of tea. Its located by the children's department up on the 5th floor. Its look is very quaint and fun. You do have to reserve ahead of time to sit and enjoy tea in one of the two Cinderella carriages they have but it is more costly. The food is delicious and the tea is perfect. The don't however have the selfieccino which was a big disappointment. It's in need of repair but no one can seem to fix it. So if your going for that you will be let down.

Service slow, inefficient, forgot items, understaff, and food a disgrace chips were fried on old oil and it’s came mushy and with with a horrible taste, staff never check on the quality of the food and when she came to clear the table she saw my place did not asked anything, did not give a dame! Afternoon tea is ok, but a place for your lunch... go anywhere else McDonalds, Subway, or buy a bag of crisps and you will be happier! I really do not recommend this place!

To whom it may concern,

Sunday 2nd of July I visited the tea terrace in HOF Oxford street. It was my daughter's birthday and we were with a group of 8 people very exited and looking forward. I must say it is a very nice place, but unfortunately the service that we got was very very disappointing. When we came in I asked for a table for 8 people, the lady who greeted us after 5 min standing there made us seat at a table were only 4 people could sit. But before doing that she made us wait 10 minutes to clean up the tables. So we have been waiting 15 min to be served to a table. After we sat at the table for 4 people we knew this wasn't right I decided to ask a waitress to give us a bigger table with 8 chairs but it was very hard for me to find anyone and ask for that. So i had to get up and find someone to help me with this. I spotted a waitress and she was serving a other table and said that she will come to our table. When she came I asked her to move us to the bigger table next to us since we are 8 people and we had planned to have lunch there , which wasn't possible to eat at the small table. In return she said I cannot do that because the table needs to be cleaned! I was like fine clean the table and Please move us.. you could that she wasn't very happy doing that. A minute later another waitress comes up and tells us that we can't be moved because the table to is not clean, at that moment i taught i dont know what the issue was with just cleaning the table and have your customer's moved to a much needed bigger table. We arrived at 3.50 and now it's 4.30 and we have not even figured out our table. Which was very frustrating and also annoying when your with children. Once we got the table I asked for the menus and we ordered our food, which was traditional afternoon tea for 2 and 5 kids meal (pasta and ice cream). Having done that my daughter was pointing out to the floor that there are broken pieces of glass on the floor from the people who were sitting there before us. I was shocked and sure enough that someone will come and clean it up. But again unfortunately no one cleaned it up but shockingly when they served food we pointed out and the servers were just walking all over it. And so did all of them when they brought out our orders. I was concerned during the whole stay that no one gets hurt. Till even after we left! We were So disappointed with our food, the pasta was cold, we asked for spiced chai latte but we got just plain spiced tea, there was no latte, we ordered the traditional afternoon tea for 2. We asked for plates to put our scones and cakes on it and the waitress said, why don't u use your saucer! and we basically had to ask again Iike a begging kind of way for her to bring us a plates and when she did she only brought us 1. At this stage I was furious! At 5.30 another waitress come with the bill I didn't ask for and she say we are closing and I had to pay. I told her that the children haven't got their desserts that we ordered at the start. In a very rude manner she asked what we wanted and we told her we have given our order all ready. She got the ice creams and puts them all over the kids dirty, full of food plates and I said can you not do that , clean the table first and then put there ice creams out, saying that, I had in my mind a clean table where I could bring out her cake and surprise her and of course I didn't want a dirty table in my pictures. This was going to be something she would remember her life time. She said yes to the cleaning but still as soon as she put the ice cream...

They keep deleting other peoples negative reviews and keep deleting mine! They have read and not answered any of my messages!!! I’m so angry!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! I am writing to say how disappointed and disgusted I am with the experience I had on Saturday 25th November 2017 and the food provided. I had high expectations due to the posts I have previously seen of the carriage experience and cream tea. As it was a birthday gift I have been excited for months!

Firstly we arrived, people walking out of the terrace were telling people in the queue not to bother going in... we dismissed their views and were seated with our tea, all lovely at 4pm... people around us were gradually complaining about waiting times and wrong orders, we exchanged glances and thought maybe it was a little behind due to being a Saturday... We took beautiful photos in the carriage, Drank our whole pot of tea, then at 4:52 pm our food finally arrived considering our slot was 4 til 5:15pm... one cheese sandwich was missing the top and the order was wrong so the plate with sandwiches was taken back to the kitchen... they were bought back with the missing half and had been sat on the side for over half an hour previously to this, the bread was hard!! 4 scones all way over cooked and one of them so hard not even a knife could cut it!! One of the cheese sandwiches had egg in it... the waitress we had took the rock hard scone to the kitchen to show them and looked genuinely horrified and was extremely apologetic.

Another table asked to speak to the manager and he was so rude to them and his staff then disappeared!! Another group complained and left asking to see the manager and were told he was unavailable. I have emailed, written to them on Facebook and they have gone on to block me and remove my reviews. Angry is an understatement right now!

I cannot express how deeply saddened and cross I am and was very close to leaving and not paying! My poor friend ended up in total paying almost £75 for the Carriage rental and 2 cream teas... AND they added a service charge onto the bill!!!!!! Absolutely fuming, they did not once come and see if we needed anything, with all the issues we had as well it is beyond a joke. The waitress we had was so embarrassed and didn’t stop apologising.

Whether it is lack of staff or the establishment was too busy this afternoon I think this definitely requires attention. I will not be recommending this to anybody. I love the idea and on paper it’s lovely, in practice it...

the tea terrace has to be the worse service I received from a manager ever! I headed down the The Tea Terrace, in House of Fraser’s Oxford Street branch, to grab a selfieccino. I got my food page logo printed in foam and was shocked to receive it in a DIRTY USED cup! You can clearly see a lipstick mark on the rim of the cup and that is how I received my selfieccino. Straight away I called for our waitress who quickly sent the manager my way. To my shock belief she accused me of making the lipstick mark. First of all I wasn’t wearing lipstick of that colour and my lipstick doesn’t transfer like that and second of all you can clearly see the drink hasn’t been touched as the foam was still intact. They kept blaming me for the mark and saying it cannot be them as they wash their cups thoroughly. How can the tea terrace point the finger at me and say I am in the wrong. Before accusing your customers please look through CCTV where you’ll see I did not even touch the coffee. They even wanted to charge me for the coffee which I didn’t even drink(because who would drink coffee from a dirty used mug) but after a while they decided to take it off the bill. Shocking service and will not be...
