Good food, freshly made but very pricey. We had a combo plater for two , but we hopped for a mix of meat choices and big portions. We had instead some mix of lamb and chicken pieces and some kind of flat meat balls supposed to be lamb and chicken kebab!? Also served half of pita bread and a very small pot of salad and two dips sauce. We liked rice as a side but they haven't and served a medium portion of chips, not enough for two , well cooked, tasty. The share plate for two cost £38 and to Dunya restaurant is the same price but double plate and very mixed, contains rice, cuscus, lamb ribs, lamb kebab, chicken and pepper kebab, chicken wings, marinated lamb ,marinated chicken breast. Also served with grilled tomatoes and big pot of mixed salad . Also they don't serve kids menu and a wrap costs £9,50 instead of £6 to bamo and is smaller. So we don't understand how a little eatery serving smaller portions and less diversified has the same prices as a very good restaurant, Dunya ,serving big portions and everything is very tasty and lovely. Also Dunya is a big restaurant with a lot of staff and definitely big rent and bills compared with a little eatery located in the market with only 3 staff !? The owner should understand the reality and adjust the prices or/and improve and diversified the dishes. We do like to support a small family business but would love to receive a nice meal at a decent price. We go often to Lisbon restaurant which is another family business and we love the food and decent prices . This is how they keep their customers and make them return for meals . We cannot pay the same amount of money as we pay to Dunya but to receive less food and less diversified. Also another restaurant in Collin Campbell car park called Air Pizza serving huge fresh tasty portions at very decent prices . For example, a big portion of chips and two big freshly made very tasty schnitzel cost only £15. Another restaurant with good prices and decent portions is Foodie on Cornwall Street. Tantuni is surrounded by many decent restaurants but keep selling small portions on big prices. PS We are not related in any way to Dunya , simply love to eat there ,just...
Read moreChicken in my vegetarian wrap... Unfortunately, I ordered a Hallumi and grilled vegetable wrap, marked as vegetarian on the menu, but when I started to eat it I saw there was a piece of chicken in the wrap. This was an issue as I am a vegetarian. I let the waitress know, she was apologetic and nice but clearly didn't know how to react. I asked for a replacement wrap. They agreed to do so but unfortunately there was no rush put in on my order and I could see that 3 other tables were served before my replacement was made (it's an open plan kitchen) so the person I was dinning with had finished their meal before I received my replacement, which I ate cautiously. It was a great shame as otherwise the food and drink were nice. I was disappointed that there was no good will gesture offered to make up for this unacceptable mistake. While the waitress was apologetic it didn't feel like there was any great care given by the restaurant and chef. Otherwise the restaurant was nice...
Read moreLove this place, the people are so lovely and the food is amazing. Apple Turkish tea, wrap filled with halumi and roasted vegetables in a fantastic sauce. I had hot chilli, my wife had medium and my son had plain. The taste of such a simple dish is an absolute joy and served with sumac fries. The most difficult choice is the pudding and we decided to each try a different cheesecake OMG each was so different I had rose with pistachios, my son had chocolate but my wife’s lemon stole the show but saying that nobody swapped. The chocolate was sweet and luxurious, mine was delightfully delicate and my wife’s was sharp and finished the meal beautifully. We had a plan that we would take away some extras and the next day we had some hummus and baklava. Just going to say I hated baklava but this has totally changed my opinion. Not overly sweet and the taste of nuts comes through but the texture of the pastry makes this the highlight. Eat here and see the joy I...
