This is a must go to if you are ever in Portsmouth, our favourite pub in the UK with our favourite views. With fabulous staff and fantastic food you can't really go wrong. We turned up on Sunday just for a drink and were greeted by the wonderfully warm and charismatic Barry. Now we hadn't booked a table for food and we well advise you do, however we found a little table by the fireplace to enjoy our drinks. I was served by the very happy ( and tall ) Jack who certainly knew his way around the bar. Now whilst I was being served I could not help but to overhear the customer next to me having a right go at the other guy behind the bar , Luke. From what I saw and heard none of what was said was Lukes fault but he did a brilliant job of remaining calm and de-escallating the situation, so A very well done to you 👏 We in the end decided to stay on for food and Barry very kindly managed to squeeze us in. The food was outstanding , so please pass on our thanks to the chefs which was superbly served by Gracie. The only thing I didn't do was take a pic of it but there are two very empty plates apart from the last piece of pudding which I'm just about to devour!! Thanks to all of you for a huge team effort as I know due to a water leak you were all put under a lot of pressure. Five massive and well deserved stars from us ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First time visitors last weekend, wow, wow and wow is all I can say. We originally popped in just for a drink, sitting on the outside terrace literally at waterside, outstanding views of the harbour and the passing boats, we ended up staying the evening and went inside at about 9pm, due to the wind picking up, we were very lucky to get a table as a couple were just leaving. After seeing the food that was brought to a neighbouring table 😳 we decided to eat. We ordered the Haddock and Chips with minted peas, what a mouth watering, eye popping delight, best fish and chips we’ve had in a long, long while. It was huge 😳 Although both the food and the drinks were a little on the pricey side, I have no complaints whatsoever, as I’ve always believed that “ Cheap ain’t Good and Good ain’t Cheap “ this was outstanding value for money. 💯 The destination, the venue, the staff, the food, the ambiance, just everything about the Still and West was superb and complimented our outstanding day out in Portsmouth. We will definitely return to this venue again. So to the Management, the Bar Staff, Kitchen Staff, Servers and support Staff, thank you and keep it up. You’re doing an amazing job. Brilliant!

Firstly, purely for location, drink and the Team, I would give this place 5 stars easily. It has to be one of the best locations in Portsmouth. What a view!! I can’t think of a better place to have a Beer. (Other than back home in Cornwall). However, the food slightly let it down. I had a Burger, it was good, but in this day and age, Burgers can easily be made epic and it was just ordinary. The “Secret Sauce” essentially a cross between American Mustard and Mayo with a subtle hint of Spice. I just felt it could be better for nearly £15. Comparing it to something like Byron or Honest, if they score a 7 or 8 out of 10, then this is 5 at best. Mum had the Chicken Kiev. And while the chicken itself was proper juicy, the breadcrumb was a little greasy/oily and the Mash it came with, almost liquid from the Butter. (You can see the pool of Butter in the Pic) Complimented by just a Teaspoon of over wilted Spinach. As I say, it wasn’t bad at all. It was okay Pub Food. What I’d expect from your average village local. But I’ve eaten in some great Pubs that do really great food. And this was just ordinary with no wow factor I’m afraid. Some careless food mistakes that could very easily be rectified to turn it into a stunning 5/5 all round venue. Chips and the Beer…Location and Staff, yeah they all get a 5/5.

Great view from the first floor dining area and lovely fresh seafood - Family friendly too! Staff are very friendly and happy to help. The decor is harbour-pub themed with good seating for 7-8 people and baby chairs available. Lunch and child's menu along with normal main menu selections. Their batter for fish is Fullers Frontier London and their dairy is source from Laverstoke Park Farm. After enquiring about "blackened salmon" on their lunch menu, it was described as "in the oven with spices".(for anyone interested) I recommend trying the sharing platter especially if you like fish. Goujons, haddock fish cakes, mackerel pate and salmon! For two adults it was very tasty and filling, can always ask for serving of sides. As dessert their selection from Eton mess, brownie and ale toffee pud with ice cream or sorbets are great. I found espresso and ice cream was wonderful combination. The salted caramel was reccommended (if you enjoy fudge or toffee it's definately a try) Very creamy, smooth and full of flavour, plus goes down well with the sharpness of espresso. Thank you very much!

Truly exceptional fish and chips by the sea. It has been 10 years since we last visited the Still and West due to living away from Portsmouth. We returned today to hopefully repeat numerous good visits and we’re not disappointed. The Still and West is a lovely pub situated in Old Portsmouth. There’s a lovely beer garden on the waters edge that provides a great place to watch the world go by and the Spinnaker Tower completes the setting. The facilities are great. The toilets are clean and there is plenty of choice at the bar. Inside and out the pub is beautifully laid out and the staff are very polite and helpful. The main attraction for this pub though is the the fish and chips. We ate ours in the beer garden which provided the perfect setting. The fish batter was was light and crispy and there wasn’t a soggy chip in sight. The meal was excellent. We will certainly be returning. Good job Still and West and pleased to see the high standards have been maintained over the years.

This was a wait worth waiting for! Having moved to Southsea back in 21, this place has been on our radar for some time but have never actually been. But we decided to book on boxing day for lunch, and well, the wait was over and it delivered with a punch 👊 😀... We asked for a table with a view and we were so happy to be seated at this table with such a beautiful view, with ferry's, boats, and even a cruise ship going past, it adds to the experience. Service was quick and efficient. Starters came out quickly and were so tasty! The mains took a little longer to arrive, but look, it was boxing day, and it was packed in there!! Our burgers were incredible well worth the wait and the beef was very juicy and thick. You could tell this was a proper fresh burger here. Overall, our experience was extremely pleasant. Thank you to all the staff for coming out on boxing day smiling and working hard to ensure we enjoyed our food and the experience.
