Never been to the spice island before, certainly wasn't disappointed. 8 of us went for a family birthday, 7 roast dinners and a Korean chicken burger. Right from arriving the staff team were friendly, accommodating and helpful. Sam took our orders at the bar. We ordered food and drinks and expected to wait a while as it was Sunday afternoon service, but the food arrived quickly and efficiently. Everything was just as we ordered and was beautifully cooked and very tasty. I had 28 day aged roast beef with cabbage, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes, carrots, (extra) Yorkshires and gravy. Beef was absolutely superb, soft tasty and melted in your mouth. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the service was great. We were quite demanding as we had a birthday cake, balloons and all the associated bits to go with them, but our servers Kerry and Collette couldn't do enough for us and made the meal a pleasure. Many thanks to Sam, Kerry, Collette and the other two young gents (sorry i didnt get your names!) who helped us out, brilliant. Only thing i could fault is that at the time we visited the coffee machine was broken! There's great views over the harbour and lots of seating outside too, a great walk along the hot walls or on round to Gunwharf; definitely recommend a refreshment stop here.

On a day trip to old Portsmouth we went to the spice island pub for a comfort stop (a quick drink),we were greeted at the door by a young lady who said have we booked no I replied just wanted a quick drink oh I'll have to check availability we are very busy a very polite man returned said I can let you have a table for 1hr excellent I replied, we were shown to a small table where we were swiftly served a delicious cider, when the gentleman in question passed by our table 30 minutes later, I said is there any availability later that day which was a Sunday and very busy he said you can stay where you are the table is yours and I'll get you a menu my wife was thrilled, then he returned and said would you like a table upstairs with a view amazing I thought escorted up stairs with our drinks and seated with an amazing view of the sea and gosport, we soon ordered our food roast beef dinner and one fish and chips both outstanding, I would just like to thank all the staff who were so polite and helpful, and the kitchen staff for a great lunch time, we will return, Many thanks John and amanda Williams.

It’s a shame as I do love this place. We booked festive online and paid a deposit and turned up expecting to have our table, no one called to take a pre order so we didn’t know we wouldn’t have a table set up, but we were lucky enough to be able to have a table in the end which was set ready for the next day. Just wasn’t as smooth as turning up and it was all sorted considering we pre booked well in advance, we assumed it was just all sorted. I then didn’t read what came with the turkey dinner, should have really because it’s not the same as a previous time I went, or like you would expect no stuffing, no Yorkshire pudding. We wouldn’t choose here again for our annual Christmas meal which is a shame as the place is set in a beautiful place. Staff were however lovely! The area we ended up sitting in was also lovely. The turkey was super lovely and the gravy. And the Yorkshire was once we spoke to staff and went up to the bar and ordered some.

The view of the Gunwharf, The Spinnaker Tower, The ships Yacht and water bodies what not passing by and the cold breeze witnessing sunset. That's not all that you may find and feel around you while sipping your favorite drink in the knuckle of the Ports mouth of the Portsmouth's very own Spice Island! The word "perfect" is what it suits to describe its spot on the map. As you can spend so much gazing and never get bored, and if u happen by chance to get a spot inside the house it is always filled with fantastic crowds who are on repeat mode like us, then the interiors and the settings sets you up as well. Kids menu does have something to keep the tots busy and enjoying their time out here. Priced apt! And served hot! With the Greeneking app services you have the comfort to order from the table avoiding the Que. Overall The best. May it be as a single Soul, or a family out as a whole.

At the start our meals looked okay Once started the potatoes deflated when picking up to with folk to cut 🤣🤣 which I found amusing and strange as never experienced this before just saying ? The amount of carrots we received didn’t even equal a carrot 🥕 I’m sure a few peas the chicken and Yorkshire pudding were nice but the the cauliflower sauce was a watery liquid ? Many things could vastly be improved to make this a positive experience Hopefully Mr Greene King will come and experience it for themselves 🤞30 min plus wait for this end result 🤔 All you get as a response is we’re sorry to hear of your disappointment ? That’s it a terrible tiny reply to a paying customer it’s like ? Bad Management

We just had some cocktails and the guy who prepared them had poured so much ice on our glasses that it was no room for anything else on these glasses. I watched him doing other cocktails and he is using the same bad practice. On the other hand I watched the ladies behind the bar prepping cocktails but it was the fair way to prepare them with just the correct balance between ice and drinks. In fact it's had to order a beer and to leave the watery blody mary on the table. Please teach your bartender to respect your clients! It was the most tasteless violet and bloddy marry cocktails we ever had. But your dirty chips were great!
