Dynasty — Restaurant in Reading

I came here for dinner after being very happy with the afternoon tea that’s available fri-sun afternoons.

The restaurant staff are so polite and friendly, they have moved over from Hong Kong and have a family business in Reading now. Which is great news for Reading residents 🙂

I wish I could eat more in one go, but I’ll have to go back to try more dishes. Make sure to ask for the 2nd menu which is aimed more at Cantonese speakers. There are some great authentic dishes on there! They gave a bowl of soup on the house too.

I will go back again.

The restaurant is set within a casino and unfortunately in the evening the casino reception guy was a bit rude and surly. He was very strict about checking ID (didn’t happen when I went for lunch so I was confused about what was happening!) but he didn’t ask me to give my number plate. Visited this Chinese restaurant during the weekend to have dim sum. However, we were disappointed that there wasn't a full dim sum menu. There is only a handful of dim sum choices (dim sum platter, fried wontons, shanghai dumplings, steamed cheung fun - all small portions) plus choices of soup noodles (a tad salty due to the broth the noodles were served in). The atmosphere was relaxed so you are able to be seated for a long time, however the service was very slow as there were only 2 servers. I'd recommend a visit if you are just going for a simple bite to eat, but if you are entertaining friends/visitors, then it would be better to find another venue.
