Nando's PERi-PERi — Restaurant in Addison

Let me preface this review by saying that I usually reserve my reviews for outstanding experiences I have. But this one was quite the opposite. I ordered a veggie burger and a bottle of vegan perinaise (a sauce that I love and was excited to take home). The burger arrived and it was good. The bottle of sauce never arrived. After I finished my meal, I notified a water about this and he said he would check, 20 minutes go by… nothing happens. I ask him about it again, and he says that the order does not show any bottle of sauce and that I should show him the receipt on my phone. I show him the receipt but unfortunately my phone died as he was looking at it. He then asks me to the front desk to check the order, proceeds to ask another employee if they know how to pull up orders on the screen, they tell him to just ask the customer to show the receipt on the phone. Do they not have a means of knowing who ordered what?? Especially when we provide our names and table numbers along with the order. Or they do not know how to do it and didn’t bother asking someone higher up on how to proceed. They tell me they cannot give me the bottle unless I show my receipt, and I don’t understand why they would think that someone who has paid for a meal and eaten it there would lie about ordering a bottle of sauce?? But fine alright, I leave the restauraunt grab a power bank and head back in, show them the receipt. They then give me a bottle of perinaise that CLEARLY is not vegan, as it says in bold letter right on the front that it is made from cage free eggs. I tell the employee that I ordered the vegan sauce, and they then proceed to explain to me that it was JUST made with eggs. Which perplexed me endlessly because they either do not know what veganism is or isn’t putting in the effort to understand what I’m trying to say. I show them that my order clearly says vegan sauce, and then they proceed to search for it. Another employee then comes over and says that they don’t have the sauce, to which I ask why it was on the menu in the first place. They then seemingly offended by my question tell me that their menu is worldwide and contains items available in other countries not available in the United States. Which baffles me again, because if they noticed me order something unavailable they should have the courtesy to inform me that they don’t have it or try to find an alternative solution, neither of which they did. A higher management (I’m assuming) gentleman steps in at this point and checks my receipt AGAIN, and says they don’t have the sauce and explains the other options I have, which I really appreciated but the employee tells that individual that they had already explained all this to me, which they absolutely had not. Finally I agree to take the non vegan version of the sauce and then the employee proceeds to narrate a story about how someone ordered a drink earlier that was only available in the UK and they couldn’t make it for them as they didn’t have it available here. Absolutely confused about the point of this narration and whether them admitting to doing this often was supposed to make me feel better??

ANYWAY, TLDR: good food, incredible atmosphere and it truly does sadden me to say this, but an incompetent staff that contributed to a harrowing experience. Would never dine...

Unique Food flavors but overpriced

Atmosphere: pretty standard interior, bright and welcoming. Tables are pretty close together. Not a huge fan of their ordering process.. just take my order in the front then seat me. The app is slow and annoying to order on

Food:

Halloumi Sticks and Chilli Jam $8.29 Five chunky sticks of grilled halloumi with chilli jam for dipping. A nice mozzarella stick style of appetizer great for sharing. Not crispy obviously.

Garlic Sticks $4.99 Baked Portuguese roll, cut in strips, and smothered in garlic-herb spread and grilled. A nice shareable appetizer

PERi Chicken Rainbow Bowl $14.99 Avocado, tomato cucumber & onion salad, pickled cauliflower, hummus, feta, and superseed crunch, served over Portuguese rice and finished with a Lemon & Herb PERi-PERi drizzle. Over dressed a bit but good, pretty small overall.

1/2 Chicken Medium Heat With 2 sides $17.79 Chicken was good, nothing to call home about. The different sauces were a nice touch and really help elevate the chicken. not super juicy though as some reviewers are stating.

Sides:

Portuguese Rice - House-made with turmeric and peppers. this tasted like what you make at home out of a box, dry and pretty bad.

Crispy Brussels Sprouts - Crispy Brussels Sprouts drizzled with PERi Ranch. Pretty good, not alot of places offer this so its a nice option

Corn on the Cob - Fresh yellow corn flame-grilled and served with butter. very good, its corn you cant really mess it up

Red Skinned Mashed Potatoes - Red Skin Mashed Potatoes

Creamy mashed potatoes with real butter and garlic. These are delicious a must get for sure

PERi Chips - Crispy fries with our signature PERi-salt. Also a must get these were crispy and salty awesome.

Sauce Tip: Lots of sauce options in pourable containers try them all.

Drinks: Blood Orange Mango Lemonade - $3.89 Handcrafted with blood oranges and juicy mangos. Good not great, also not the coldest

Pineapple Lemonade - $3.89 Handcrafted with tropical pineapples. Good not great, also not the coldest

Desserts: Naughty Natas $2.99 Traditional Portuguese custard tart, served warm with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. These are must get they are very good, like a custard filled cake.

Price: This place is Pricey, for what it is. Considering this is "fast" food I feel like everything is just a bit too expensive for what you get.

Parking: Big lot but there is a lot of restaurants here so it can be difficult

Service: We got a table fairly quick but the place is small. You order yourself at the table and someone brings you the food so aside from that no real service here.
