EDIT: I had to come back and change my review. It was that bad this time. We ordered French onion soup for an appetizer. It came with the cheese on top COMPLETELY uncooked. Basically a bowl of onion soup, with a piece of toast floating and and two slices of cheese laid on top. Not melty and slightly brown or a little cooked. You could actually SEE TWO SLICES OF CHEESE. Niether of us finished our cold soup. We hadn't seen our waitress at all since she delivered the soup. Our entrees came out 45 minutes or so later (maybe longer). We were on a time schedule so we asked for take out boxes as we received the meal. My card wasn't reading correctly. I tried 3 times. Each time it showed the bill it has you swipe or chip your card. It then automatically has a tip set at 20% added unless you change it and CONFIRM. THEN it charges the card. It was then it had problems. Our waitress asked me if she could try my card on a different machine or she would get written up (in trouble) with the manager for using a normal register. I complied, but before she could give herself an automatic 20% tip I asked for the machine back. I figured it was none of her business how much I was prepared to tip (it was NOT 20%, however it was still very generous based on service received). I used the restroom while my wife took our food to the car. She returned in less than 15 seconds looking for her reading glasses. Our waitress was cleaning our table so my wife asked if she saw her glasses on or around the table and she said she did not. She could not have even read the menu without them so they WERE there. My wife never left the table until we were leaving. After checking everywhere under the table, etc. it became clear what happened. Use your imagination. Someone was upset that they didn't get their 20% tip and figured we could buy some new reading glasses...
We really like Applebees and normally it's great but SOMEONE NEEDS...
Read moreWould have rated zero stars had the option been available. I stopped to dine in at Applebees in Alamogordo as I was passing through town at opening time at 11 a.m. on 6/2/24.The server Brooklyn J or “Willow” as she introduced herself was inattentive at first and seemed to be irritated to be there. She was quick to speak and run from table and did not run any of our food out as she was too busy gossiping with her friends near the bar top. An older gentleman and I’m assuming his wife were then seated behind myself and two sons. As he was approached by Brooklyn and began to order his riblets from the 2 for 25 menu, he was upset with her approach and told her she had an attitude and then requested another server. She asked if he’d like to speak with her manager to which he replied, no, he’d like another server and was ready to leave the establishment. She then left the table and walked back with her coworkers and female manager (who was pregnant) and as the gentleman and his wife proceeded to make their way out of the restaurant, they then began to laugh and humiliate this couple as one of the other waitresses flipped him off. All of this was done in-front of this female manager as my children watched. I am absolutely appalled and disgusted with the behavior of this staff and management and have never witnessed such behavior in my life. The server was more attentive after this display in an effort to overcompensate for her behavior in my opinion but this is nonetheless an issue that needs to...
Read moreWe got there are 3:35 Saturday afternoon, and apparently they only had a skeleton crew working because we had to wait 20min to be seated. The server came out right away after we got seated and took our order. He came back a few times to talk to his friends in the booth next to us.
When the food came out the Asian Chicken Salad was good, according to my partner. My baby back ribs tasted okay, but Applebee's has a different definition of "so tender it falls off the bone" than I do.
When we were finished, the server came out and took his friends' payment, dropping off our check along the way (but not picking up our empty plates). He came back three times bringing to-go boxes and other items to his friend's table, while totally ignoring us and the credit card sitting on our check. He came back to say good bye to his friends, and ignored my attempt to get his attention to take our payment.
After another ten minutes I finally got the attention of the hostess and asked if there was any way we could pay and get out of there. She went and got our server, who came out and picked up the credit card, saying only "I'll be back in a minute".
I'm not sure why he decided he didn't want our business, but his actions made it pretty clear he didn't. We'll happily accomodate him and not...
