Ordering at the counter off a chalkboard in a diner atmosphere was a fun way to start the day. I love a classic breakfast and hot cup of coffee, and my husband got a breakfast burrito. Both were very, very good. We got to sit outside, and even with being outside, staff continued to offer coffee refills.

So why not 5 starts? Two reasons, the first is everywhere in alaska. The price. It was hard to pay ~20$ for 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, and a cup of coffee. However, the potatoes were some of the best that I've ever had, and I love to brunch! The second reason is the bathroom sictuation. They do not have a batroom in the restaurant. When you ask they give you directions to go halfway down the block into a door into a small hallway the bathrooms on the left. The staff at the restaurant give you a code for the bathroom door. The number she gave me didn't work, or more likly after trying to recall all the directions I recalled it wrong. Nothing to do with the food (which is damn near perfect) but definitely an odd...

The restaurant is strategically and very well placed in this downtown region off of K Street and 4th. The staff is very welcoming as soon as you walk through the door somebody greets you. My overall experience with this Diner was excellent. I ordered the number one off of their menu which came with two eggs, two slices of toast, hash browns and your choice of meat, which I chose to have the reindeer and I had never had before and my opinion is that it was very tasty and I enjoyed it. The environment was very nice they were playing music, the decoration and overall theme of the restaurant was very well. So, the overall satisfaction of the my time there was a 5 star. I recommend it to anybody who's wanting not a very large portion of food but enough to fill your stomach at a decently reasonable price for what I have seen thus far...

Food was above average based on my first experience. I will need to go back later to try more. I initially tried to order the halibut burger, but for some unspecified reason they were out and had to settle for a grilled halibut sandwich.

I went during lunch, somehow beat the rush after fighting for parking, but still had to wait 40 minutes for two sandwiches, one of which was a standard ham, cheese, and lettuce that could have been made easily at home.

The grilled halibut sandwich that was for me, was still delicious, with good amounts of charring...I wonder how much different it would have been from the blackened version of the sandwich.

Seating is minimal and cramped inside, but there are a few tables outside to sit at.

Food can also be delivered via the On the Menu/Orange Crate app as...

Good food, reasonable price, excellent service. Though the exterior and interior or not fancy it is very clean. You order at the counter and service was immediate. The crew was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed everything we ordered and it was exactly what we were looking for. This is not fine dining but if you are looking for a solid & tasty breakfast or lunch this is a great place to get exactly that. Completely different clientele then some bigger name places close by. This is downtown and we saw a lot of people working in the government buildings or other shops ducking in to grab a coffee or some breakfast. Very much more of a local place with minimal tourists or pretence.

Pop quiz! Is there such a thing as too much halibut when you’re in Anchorage? Absolutely not! But, if you’ve had one too many halibut sandwiches, head over to the Sandwich Deck. I’ve been in and out of Anchorage more times and I can count. This has got to be by far the best sandwich shop in downtown Anchorage. Their sandwiches are absolutely delicious, the staff is friendly, and the coffee is hot. The sandwich deck also has an awesome breakfast menu. Burger on the brain? They’ve got that covered also. This afternoon, I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and a cup of coffee. Delicious! Finally, yes, have a halibut sandwiches are on the menu!
