Best Denny’s EVER! I have eaten at many and even worked for Denny’s (long ago). The food is usually not a problem no matter which Denny’s I go to, and it was great here, but my true happiness came from the staff. Here is what I experience at most Denny’s restaurants (none of which I had to suffer at this particular location). Usually the servers at most Denny’s are quite frankly the worse in the business (I can fairly say this having been a server for 10 years of my life, including a Denny’s). Usually at Denny’s you wait for 2-5 minutes to get greeted, are finally greeted by someone who looks like they would rather be anywhere else but there, you are lucky if you see your server in the first 10 minutes after getting placed at a dirty table, are grossed out at the restrooms and see your server exactly 3 times – once to get your beverage order, once for your food order and once for your food (if someone else does not drop it off your food for your server). The check is usually dropped off with the meal or if you are lucky after 1 minutes of receiving your food (the “check-back”) before you have had a chance to even take a bite to see if your food is satisfactory. The rest of the time they talk to the other servers behind the counter and ignore everyone else in the restaurant. I usually cannot even flag over a server – I actually have to go up to the counter and WAIT to be acknowledged and then ask for whatever it is I need (like a refill, etc.). I am pleased to say that NONE of that happened here!
The food here was well above average for a Denny’s (absolutely no complaints). The server was awesome. He literally came by my table once every 1-3 minutes (something I used to do when I was a server). I never had to ask for something because he was attentive enough to ask me first (“would you like a refill, ketchup, extra napkins, etc). When I went to the restroom, not only was it spotless, but it smelled presently from whatever floral smelling cleaning supply they used there. In fact, they said they just had a huge rush and apologized for the mess. WHAT MESS! I have seen other Denny’s restaurants that are a mess no matter when you came in and this one was nearly spotless – after a huge rush! Every Denny’s should pattern their service off of this one because it...
Read moreThis used to be our favorite location and we hadn't been in since the whole pandemic started so we decided to stop. It was about midnight and there really wasn't much people so we were seated right away. Once we were seated we had to wait a really long time before anyone came to our table. I'm assuming it was the manager who came to our table and asked for us to be patient as he only had one waitress. After waiting and waiting, the waitress never came so he came back and took our drink order which was 2 coffees. He asked that we wait because he didn't have any and needed to make some (what kind of Dennys doesn't have any coffee made?) Anyhow, he magically came with 2 cups and said he "found" some that was sitting there. It definitely WAS sitting there because it tasted like it had been and it was pretty cold. Time passed by and still no waitress so he came back around again to take our order. When I ordered my plate I asked for ranch and he said they didn't have any so that changed my whole order (yes, the ranch is that important). So after he took our order he came back later on with some fresh coffee but then said they had no Splenda. I had to "steal" what I could find from other tables because we had no sugar. Finally when our food arrived, the plates looked ok for the most part but they forgot my husband's toast and pancakes. We finally met our waitress at that time and we told her we needed the toast, pancakes, and onion rings because that's what I ordered with my plate but received fries. My husband had already finished his meal by the time his "toast" arrived (the bread was far from toasted) and I never received my onion rings. When I reminded them AGAIN they brought me out a little plate with 5 small onion rings (yes, I counted). I asked the guy where my tomato and pickles were at that were supposed to be on the sandwich and he said "oh, we don't have any". Not a good night for them at all. I get that people are short staffed and they can only work with what their given and they really did try. So I will put blame on where I see it fit. I blame the district managers, owners and Dennys. PERIOD!!!! Shame on you Dennys. Take some pride and don't end up like Ihop. We all know where they've...
Read moreI am writing to express my extreme disappointment regarding my recent visit to your establishment. Last night, I had the unfortunate experience of dining at your #8881 Dennys, and lets just say it was anything but enjoyable.
First, my server, Zachary C, seemed to have a personal vendetta against the concept of customer service. I sat there with an empty glass for most of my meal, apparently invisible, until miraculously he decided I deserved a refill right as I was about to leave. At that point, what was I supposed to do? Chug it on my way out? Not exactly the kind of thoughtful service one hopes for.
Then, when I had the audacity to ask for extra gravy, you would have thought I was asking him to handcraft it from scratch. The attitude, the sigh, the sheer reluctance - absolutely unnecessary. If asking for a little more gravy is such a burden, Id hate to see how he reacts to an actual request that requires effort.
Overall, the service was terrible. Its one thing to have a bad day, but its another to take it out on paying customers. I expected better, and I sincerely hope this isnt the standard at your restaurant.
I want to add that I, too, work in the service industry, and I always tip generously because I understand how difficult the job can be. But service like this makes it really hard to justify. I still left a tip because thats just the kind of person I am, but trust me, it was out of principle, not because it was earned.
And let me also mention that this was around 8:30, there was one other table there, and the cooks children had there tables all the way turned up it was so very annoying. They were running around the whole time being loud as can ever. Hope management see’s this and checks the cameras because personally, this...
