We went to Jimmy’s for a weekend Sunday brunch. The wait was about half an hour, which wasn’t bad. There is a bench inside for waiting and three chairs outside, otherwise it is standing.
The venue was kept very warm, likely for the Sunday brunch crowd. I was glad the water glasses were oversized since I kept drinking to keep cool.
I ordered the Sausage & Bacon Skillet, which comes with a toast or tortilla option. I chose sourdough toast.
The skillet was served with regular white gravy instead of peppered gravy, country gravy, or any usual breakfast gravy selections. I’m not sure if they used the wrong gravy on accident, but it seemed like it was completely unseasoned. The potatoes were soggy. I had asked for the eggs over-hard and on the side; they came over easy and on the top of the skillet. The sourdough toast came pre-buttered, so if you’d like jam instead of butter remember to ask for them to not butter the toast.
The service was friendly, but the cooking/meal prep was slow and the egg selections weren’t followed.
My husband got the breakfast burrito. He needed to order milk to cool the heat of the green chile. He gave his rating of his burrito as 3.5/5.
Overall, I wouldn’t be back. Less than mediocre food, slow wait times, and selections ignored. Perhaps other patrons will have better luck. I’m confused by the high rating the restaurant currently has; perhaps long coming regulars?

Read moreWe read glowing reviews of JIMMY’S CAFÉ on Jefferson, so we tried it this morning. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience at all. My wife ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Omelette (grilled steak, onions, bell pepper, mushrooms & cheese). This morning I was hungry, so I ordered the Ultimate Skillet (bacon, sausage, ham, onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, 2 eggs, cheese, country potatoes and chile). Both dishes fell far short of their menu descriptions! My wife’s omelet was surprisingly tasteless – it definitely needed seasoning! The meat was good but sparse, and the bell peppers and onions were barely cooked. She said it probably would have tasted better if more cheese was inside instead of on top. My Ultimate Skillet consisted of 75% potatoes, 15% green bell peppers, then onions, mushrooms, and occasional pieces of meat hidden in chile and cheese sauce. I found parts of a small sausage, some deli ham pieces, but I didn’t taste any bacon – maybe there were a few scattered bacon bits instead of big thick slices that I was expecting. On the other hand, service was excellent. We don’t plan to come back since there are so many other good breakfast restaurants in the area – but it is a good place for those who like to pig out on high-carb...
Read moreMy husband and I went to have a nice lunch and made it there around 11:30 walked in and were the only people at the front, we were sat right away by the manager and placed our order almost immediately, two grilled sandwiches. Fast forward it’s 12:11 and three tables that arrived after us received their food and were almost done with their meals, I asked the manager to check on our food, he comes back at 12:15 I now have 15 minutes to eat my food and go back to work… both sandwiches were cold and soggy, I let him know that it took over 20 minute to get our food and now we need boxes because I have no time to eat it and make it back to work. His response was “well we’re busy so you need to expect a 20 to 25 minute wait”… no sorry nothing just completely rude. He offered a discount which we accepted. When I left I called and spoke with him letting him know I feel the way he handled the situation was pretty inappropriate and that I’d rather an apology or maybe some transparency regarding the wait rather than a discount. His response was “well if you’ve been here before you should have an idea of how we run things”….. save your money and time is my advice this place isn’t...
