A buddy of mine was back in town for a visit after moving away, so we wanted to go to a fun place with a chill vibe near his hotel where we could catch up together. This was DEFINITELY not that place! Instead, it's a weird mix of super ghetto vibes and judgey church lady Karen type vibes.
A group of women partying at the bar were being served a lot but when it came to us, we were basically ignored until the bartender refused to serve my friend a beer because he had his kid with him, despite the place claiming to be a family-friendly restaurant that was welcoming to kids and highchairs for the tables, yet also happened to have adult beverages/a bar.
It's clear they only want a certain type of clientele and that is not hipster dads with a kid in tow who dare to want to enjoy a brewski with their very bland tasting pizza. This was supposed to be a treat for my friend coming to town for a long-awaited get-together but the only thing he was treated to was a lecture from the bartender about looking out for the safety of his child in getting home.
We weren't able to get a word in edgewise to explain that we had walked from a nearby hotel and that our wives were there in the room should anyone need to help with the kids, not that it was necessary since I don't even drink and my friend is no lush like the ladies at the bar were!
We decided to treat this place with the same disdain and rudeness with which we were treated by leaving and swearing to never go back. We went to the nearby Cheesecake Factory instead, where my friend could order his beer in peace without being subjected to judgmental commentary. The food was much better there anyway and the atmosphere was so much more relaxing and family-friendly.
We liked it so much we invited our wives to join us and mine dared to order a spiked Tiki Punch even though she had brought our daughter... gasp!... oh, the horror of a parent enjoying a drink with her meal and the surprise of us still being able to walk back to the hotel safely afterwards with our kids. Ha!
In short- 0 stars, rude and not family-friendly (unless by family-friendly they mean policing whether parents can order a drink)... basically, go to Cheesecake...
Read moreSaggio’s uptown has some serious managerial issues. I have been a patron of the location at University for years and brought my son to the uptown location to eat last week. The staff seemed to be comprised of mostly young high school kids and my ordering experience was great. The young man who helped was efficient and polite. It wasn’t until my order was ready and I walked up to the counter that I realized the manager on duty was verbally berating the young man at the counter for not bagging my order properly. He was very abusive to this young man and didn’t stop yelling at him when I walked up to get my order. Not only did the manager (Matt) continue to yell at the young man in front of me, not once did he acknowledge I was standing there for my food. He just walked away after yelling at this young man in front of me. I was embarrassed for this employee and felt terrible to have witnessed an employee treated that way.The young man seemed equally embarrassed and couldnt make eye contact and he appologized. I stayed to eat my order and witnessed this manager being abrasive and just plain rude to several employees. This is totally unlawful to verbally abuse your employees let alone right in front of a customer with no explanation or apology. I tried getting ahold of the GM and actually drove right back to the store to discuss the issue with Frank who I was told was the general manager and he had already left for the day. I left a message for call back and have yet to hear anything. I have a teenager at home and if someone spoke to or treated my child the way this manager treated his employees I would be filing legal action. For any business to allow this kind of behavior is abhorrent and I will never be a patron of this business again. I suggest you think twice about visiting this company and...
Read moreSo I have a boatload of dietary restrictions, makes it difficult to eat out. Can’t do cheese. Can’t do marinara because of the garlic. But I can do pizza with no cheese, no marinara, and a bunch of veggies. Three previous times before I order just that here at the Uptown Saggios. Perfectly acceptable pizza considering all my restrictions. Today, something changed. Start to place my usual order, I ask for a create my own pizza, no cheese, no sauce. Gal on the phone tells me they can’t make a pizza like that. I inform her I’ve had it three times before. Put on hold. Three minutes later said they would put olive oil on it. Yup. That’s how it’s done. I order my veggies. When I start to order a fourth topping she stops me and says they can’t do more than three. I tell her I have had it three times before with five toppings. Nope. Can’t do it. I say fine, no pizza, put in the rest of my order. Go to pick it up and talk to a manager. Inform him of the situation. He says, no more than three toppings, it won’t cook right, soggy center. That didn’t happen the three previous times I ordered the very same thing. I look at their menu, every pizza has at least five toppings. Manager tells me that’s because they place those ingredients in very precise and specific ways. So, I’ve done my share of traveling around this country. Never had a problem before making the very same order at dozens of other places. So just be aware, if you have restrictions, or you want the pizza a particular way, they might not be able to make that pizza just how you want it, and how you had it previously. Otherwise, my girlfriend loves the...
