Gus & Us Grill — Restaurant in Allen Park

I've been ordering carry out here since July 2017. I've never ate in the actual restaurant. The food is hit and miss. Some days it's GOOD FOR THE PRICE and some days it taste rushed and greasy. The customer service for carry out is hit and miss as well. Some of the host are exceptionally friendly and some I don't understand how they maintain a job in customer service. It doesn't bother me much because, I do carryout. The last two times I visited the restaurant the price listed on the menu online on THEIR OWN WEBSITE is not what I was charged. The first time I thought the difference in the price was due to my substitute of onions for cucumbers. The second day I ordered it exactly as it came still a difference in price. I politely asked the host bringing my food about the price difference her response "Well the price is $8.79". I asked her about the reflection of the price on the online menu. Her response "The price is 8.79 I don't know what to tell you". I understand prices are subject to change in a restaurant so why not just say it. The receipt she gave me was a card receipt not a detailed receipt and she did not show me a menu. I called the next day to inquire I was told the prices were recently raised and the online menu was being updated to reflect the change. The manager asked for my name so I could be provided with an updated carryout menu on my next visit. Sorry I have had too many mixed experiences here. It won't be a next visit. I'll just stop being cheap and visit Leo's a couple blocks down where the quality of food and customer service is consistently satisfying for a higher price or Tim's Coney island just...

We finally decided to stop in today; have been talking about doing so for a long time. Friendly staff, clean environment, great food. Our orders arrived quickly, perfectly, and piping hot. My fries were crispy and hot; haven't had that anywhere in years! We both started with cups of Chicken, Lemon, and Rice Soup... and it was exactly what we had hoped for. My Gyro Deluxe was awesome, my wifes Bacon Cheeseburger was cooked perfectly and looked incredible. It looked like a menu picture; someone obviously takes their time to make sure the food presents well to the customer. Thank you! Our ONLY complaint, and it's a personal preferrence thing, is it seemed someone was smoking either in a back room, or just outside the back door, and our entire meal we kept smelling cigarette smoke blow through. If it hadn't been that, I would have gladly given 5 starts. (And I know I'm probably a jerk for downgrading the score for that... again, personal preference.) We will definitely be back. There's a rather large selection on the menu, so that's a plus, and the prices are pretty reasonable. They do special orders with no problem (like no mushrooms in your omelette - not sure about more complex stuff like gluten-free or vegan). The food comes pretty quickly, which is great, but honestly, as nice as they may be, the waitresses are rather inattentive, and they check in on you less frequently than they should - for example, on several occasions, in the few years I've been frequenting the place, the waitress has brought me my food, then not come back for 10-15 minutes! I've had to get up and track down my waitress a few times during that time period to ask for ketchup, or a fork, or whatever it may be. I find that quite unacceptable, especially having waited tables myself for several years over my lifetime.

Regardless, their food is quite good, with a menu with a large selection and reasonable prices... and overall, the staff is friendly and competent. I would tell a friend to give this...
