The pizza is fine, but I mean that in the most generic way possible. There's nothing remarkable or exceptional about the crust, sauce, toppings or cheese. It's pizza. That being said, when compared to something out of the refrigerator, it's overpriced and you'll have to wait in line and deal with rude workers. That's the big problem with Sal's. I've never seen such rude workers in my life. The cash register guy was yelling at customers and the one putting orders together looked surprised and frustrated that each pizza order was different from the last. We were in there for about 30 minutes and this never changed. Their magnum opus was throwing a guy out for asking for water after his friends/brothers ordered pizza. "No freeloaders, etc" and told him to go outside. Probably the worst customer service I have ever seen.
The Soup Nazi on "Seinfeld" could be a jerk because his soup was the best. Sal's is far from having the best anything.
I'll buy a Jack's, order something from Toppers, or visit another pizza place in Appleton before I...

Granted it's in the downtown area traffic is kinda a mess, certainly when construction is happening, when crossing the street. Usually you don't have to worry about pedestrians being it's a fairly wide sidewalk.
That's really the only bad part about Sal's.
Food is great especially for the price. Had both their pizza and pastas which I always order. For take-out the containers/bags they place the food in is actually durable compared to various locations for take-out.
Entering in the building is long and narrow (obviously, it's downtown area which is what you get usually). It's a nice place though. Kept clean, smells awesome and service is always nice and ordered. Can't speak for dine-in, but for waiting on take-out I believe the longest wait when the order was "ready" is a couple minutes because they are serving other guests.
Always on top of their game. Very...
Read moreI walked into Sal's Pizza and after perusing the menu on the wall decided to order 12 buffalo wings for $9.99. After waiting for 25 minutes --which I thought was a long time since there weren't many orders coming out of the kitchen -- the matriarch of the place rang up the wings and told me my total was $26 and change!
When I pointed out that the menu price was $9.99 another employee told me that since inflation, prices have gone up and it's too expensive to update the menu which is just a poster. It should be easy enough to afford when you're charging $5 per slice and $25 for a dozen wings.
They were, however, able to print out and tape to the wall updated prices for pizza slices and soda. It seems to me that they should be able to do the same for the rest of their menu items.
I decided to not take the wings, and they didn't seem upset or anything, so I will give them credit for that, but to raise prices 150% without any...
