This is a great place to come for an eat out with friends and family. The waitress/owner (?) of the restaurant is friendly; our family loves Thailand, so we all know a few basic Thai words, which makes it fun to greet and thank her in Thai. I wouldn't say the food is the most amazing Thai I have eaten, but that is simply because my whole family loves spicy food-- real spicy food, not Americanized type-- and Thai restaurants tend to cater to the average American's taste buds; therefore, not so spicy. On the other hand, the flavors make up for that, which is why my family and I love this place. It's an average priced restaurant, so I say, give it a try by yourself or with a friend or family member if you want to try the food but not spend too much with the risk of not liking the food. My family and I doesn't have a very high income, and we can afford this restaurant occasionally; if you are an average American, then I believe you'll find the food and prices excellent. If you believe you're not an average American, then I think you will probably still enjoy it. Additionally, at the Monrovia post office, you can pick up a coupon book there, and in that book, there are two coupons for the Basil Thai, and we used both; they were very helpful! I highly...
Read moreWhile staying at the Hotel across the street me and my wife stopped in for Dinner 1 night. The dining area isn't exceptionally large but all tables were full except 1 and everyone looked satisfied. We ordered Rangoon's for an appetizer and they were very good. Actual crab style, not just cream cheese. My wife ordered Chicken Pad See Ew and I ordered Beef Pad Thai. They ended up bringing out Chicken Pad Thai and Beef Pad See Ew but we were sharing anyways and everything was delicious, didn't even consider bothering the busy staff about it because we were still pleased with it. Water never went empty and the single server to the whole restaurant was quick and kind. Highly recommend! Other options on the menu looked traditional and...
Read moreI came here for lunch today for the 1st time, and it will be my LAST! Service was very nice but this cook seems to think there is no need for flavor because there was none! I ordered the shrimp pad thai which barely had flavor and the shrimp tasted like it was boiled, not even sauteed in butter or garlic. No salt, no pepper. I also tried the yellow curry. Just like I read in another review, it tasted like chicken noodle soup from a can. There were not flavors of Thai food anywhere. Maybe they are trying to save money by cutting back on spices. A disappointing...
