Terrible experience walking into this bar with two good friends, all of us well-dressed in either button-down shirts or dresses, and excited to grab a drink after work. We were immediately yelled at by the bartender who jumped out from behind the bar yelling "HEY YOU! HEY! HEY!" as we walked from the entrance to the long bar where he was stationed. He actually stopped serving other patrons to do this.
We asked him to stop yelling and to "please treat us like fellow humans" as we assured him we were well over 21 (I'm 32) and we immediately all got our IDs out to show him. The whole scene was totally unnecessary. We never refused to show our IDs nor did we walk past any visible bouncer.
His response as he looked at our IDs, "Or I could just ask you to leave."
We told him that if he thought it best to turn away business, to go head and ask us to leave. He agreed. End result was that we were all kicked out before we made it 20 feet into the bar, which is beyond belief. This employee was an embarrassment to the bar and should not be working with the public.
We asked to speak to the manager about this treatment, to which he proudly said he was the manager. So no help there.
I asked if he wanted the business to make money, and he said, "Not from you."
Bystanders who witnessed the interaction came up to us to essentially apologize on behalf of the bar, though they were just customers.
Don't go here. Ever. Better bars downtown like Creekside, Caldera, Brickroom,...
Read moreDisappointing. I decided to walk in in s beautiful Thursday afternoon and found the place empty ,with the exception of a regular enjoying himself.
The bartender was on his phone and non responsive until I requested a drink, at which point he pours quick Guinness incorrectly and set it down before getting back on his phone .
I found the service and quality to be disappointing , especially because it wasn’t busy . There is an art to being a bar tender - most of which is professionalism, courtesy and most important interpersonal skills. Cell phones has no place in the world if hospitality, especially serving the likes of a tourists city like Ashland.
It is my hope that the bartender receives proper training and improves upon his presentation to represent the business properly. I should hope the owners reflect on the poor representation of their business at the hands of a bartender who doesn’t really want to be there. I presume the bartender feels it’s just a paycheck and a place to catch up on their messages and missed phone...
Read moreOnly been there once but had a bad experience. Ordered water with lemon for my wife and a soda for me as we were watching a band there bartender puts the lemon in the soda. After telling him about it he just looks at me and ignores me after that. Never charging me or touching the glass of lemon soda. It was really weird and awkward and he was very uncool and unprofessional. The soda had so much lemon juice in it that it was undrinkable so I never did get a drink and we ended up leaving early because of it. And the door guy out back was kind of a jerk as well. This happened on Saturday February 3rd. We won't be returning unless there's a really good band because I just didn't like the Vive or the bartender's attitude. And after going down to the alley to smoke away from the business we were told we could not come back in unless we paid cover charge a second time. Adios never...
