We've eaten here twice. Each time, we've been made to feel like a second class citizens by a hostess. The food has been good, but overpriced even for Aspen.

Issue #1: This place seems to book all their tables via resevations and allow very few if any walk-ins. Each time we've come we haven't had a reservation, and each time we've been met with an exasperated reaction (yeah, that lovely hostess) as if we were an inconvenience. If you don't have a reservation, expect to be unwelcome guests.

Issue #2: The wait staff and first hostess don't seem to know what they can and can't do. Can we be seated outside? Hostess #1: I don't know, let me ask unpleasant hostess #2. Can you move that sun shade so we aren't blinded and beaten by the sun? Waiter #1: I don't know, let me ask. Is the management not educating their staff or are employees freaked out about making a mistake? Dunno, don't care, it's just annoying.

Issue #3: I have never been told that we need to leave a restaurant by a certain time when we were seated. Laughable. Our favorite hostess told us this as she quickly whisked us to our table baked in sun, and as we attempted to communicate with her that I didn't plan of agreeing to this, she apparently didnt have time for even half my sentiment as she walled away. We pondered ordering coffee and dessert to see what would happen if we stayed beyond this time, but decided we'd rather spend additional money elsewhere.

I've heard a lot of good things about The Wild Fig, but unfortunately we've had two poor experiences here. We will not be back. and I suggest you look...

This was be worst experience I have EVER had at a restaurant. I was in Aspen on vacation and researched places to go for dinner, made my reservation here based on reviews and was so disappointed by what happened. After being seated outside, we asked nicely if the weather were to take a turn if we would be eating in the rain, we got the response, "well you take the risk of sitting outside or you can take your food to go if it happens". The waitress had an attitude with us from the beginning and was very clearly paying attention to other guests over us. She was gushing over the people next to us as we were sitting there for almost an hour waiting for our dinner without once checking on us. Finally we asked her where our food was and she replied "oh there was a mix up when you switched seats and the kitchen lost your order, it will be 10 more mins". First, we switched one seat over, and second I ordered risotto so 10 mins was a lie. I knew she forgot to put in our dinner and she blamed us for her mistake. 45 min later we STILL didn't have our food. We saw the manager avoiding us and when we approached him he was stand offish and non apologetic. I have never left a restaurant without eating and that was my first time doing this. What a waste of my vacation time when there was other places to go and experience. So unprofessional and unacceptable. We never got a phone call to apologize for their behavior or mistake. DO...

The food was fantastic, so my bad review definitely doesn't reflect on the kitchen staff who earned both of the stars.

If you are going to require reservations that are secured with a credit card, you might want to at least look at the "Special Occasion" box you ask your guests to fill out. If you did, you may have seen that this was a special anniversary dinner. That fact went totally unacknowledged, which was sadly par for the course.

The bad service started with the hostess, who let us stand awkwardly between the tables for about 10 minutes before finally asking if we had a reservation. I assume this is the same delightful lady who didn't tell the wait staff it was our anniversary.

Then we had the pleasure of watching every other table full of drunk, loud ladies receive fawning service while we were largely ignored. When our food did come, it came without the appetizer. We pointed this out at the end of the meal (the only time our server returned to the table). He offered an apology -- and nothing else.

When my wife asked what went wrong with the service, we were told the restaurant was very busy and sometimes one table gets ignored. Seems like a great policy. Our server did tell us he would like to show us what his good service looks like if we ever come back. Don't hold...

We stopped in Aspen for the night before heading to Maroon Bells and decided to try The Wild Fig after exploring the downtown restaurants. The dining space was lovely, with a charming setup indoors and a beautiful patio where we enjoyed a magnificent June evening. We shared some truffle fries, which were mostly tasty. My boyfriend ordered a New Fashioned, which he enjoyed. I, however, was very disappointed with my entrée. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, expecting the delicate, buttery flavor that this dish is known for. Instead, the fish was firm and overly fishy—qualities that immediately suggested it was not fresh. At $64 for a very small portion, it was extremely underwhelming and frankly appalling to be served what tasted like an old piece of fish. The atmosphere and service were nice, but the quality of my meal did not match the price point or reputation.

Our server was Blake and she, along with her team, were very attentive to the point of quality service. We started with the French onion soup. We weren't sure if the soup was going to be on the salty side, since most places serve it that way. But it wasn't salty at all. It had excellent flavor and lots of onions, just like it should be. I tried the roasted chicken rubbed with a Moroccan spice. It was cooked perfectly and had great flavors. The pan jar was soooo good. Loved it. My wife tried the salmon in a bag special. Again perfectly cooked and flavorful. They have a beautiful outside patio like seating but it was too cold for the restaurant to use when we were there.

My wife and I had the most incredible dining experience at The Wild Fig — truly the best I’ve had anywhere in the U.S. We started with a spectacular cocktail and a fig salad featuring port-marinated figs that set the tone for the night. My wife had the risotto special, I had the steak special, and we also shared a side of pasta — every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The sommelier took amazing care of us, pairing everything beautifully and making the evening feel personal and memorable. From start to finish, it was a flawless experience — warm, elegant, and unforgettable. We’ll be talking about this dinner for a long time.
