I love O2!! It's my "go-to" yoga spot in Aspen and I love to begin any trip with a class at O2. However, this year I attended Coco Rojas class. He began the class by announcing that he had been told that his adjustments "hurt people", but it was only b/c sometimes that need to happen to "bring people to the next level".
I've been praciting yoga for 15 years and a teacher for over a dcecade. I was aware of Coco's ego from the beginning and if he ever came close enough to adjust me I was going to wave him on. Unfortunately, close to the end of class, he approached me from an already deep backbend and gave no verbal cue or physical touch to let me know he was behind me... and he deepened my backbend by about 10 degrees with an uninvited, unexpected and completely unnecessary adjustment. It happened so quickly that I didn't have a chance to say NO. I didn't know he was there until it was too late. I felt a pop in my lower rib cage immediately. I was able to finish class but the next morning moving, breathing, sneezing - and skiing - was quite unbearable.
During this class (which was supposed to be 75 minutes but ran close to an hour and a half) I watched him adjust other students during challenging poses w/out asking permission or letting them know that he was near. When the students struggled he yelled, "I've got you!", and continued to force them into poses. I know I am not alone in my distaste for this instructor. I know I am not the only one he has injured w/ his ego and forceful, brutal adjustments.
Now, 3 weeks later, I'm still in pain w/ a very long road to recovery ahead of me. I know my body. I know - and I decide - what "level" I am supposed to be on. I was completely unaware that I was about to be unnecessarily adjusted from behind.
This instructor needs to check his ego at the door and refresh his basic adjustment etiquette. Beware O2. I have loved your studio and other instrutors - but this instructor puts you at risk and gives O2 a bad name. He should not be promoted. The whole experience was unfortunate and so...
Read moreThere's no more beautiful, fresh, elegant, clean, light, airy yoga studio in Dallas like it...with state of the art infrared heat, sound system, facility, ice cold towels, gifted & talented "experienced" yoga teachers who all bring their own vibe & variety to guiding classes with silence, sound, music, breath, awareness, flow, challenge & release with plenty of personal space to get my own yoga practice "on" unlike some other studios in town that are greedily packing people in to the brim like sardines which doesn't allow freedom of movement, flow, prana, chi, inner awareness, release to take place & are way too "fast" to feel anything from the inside "fully" which is not the point of yoga. O2's staff is happy, welcoming & helpful too & the store front of top of the line fitness fashion & leisure wear is second to none. As well as the lifestyle, makeup, skin care, etc lines being carefully curated for the store that extends itself beautifully to the sophisticated, classy & airy yoga, Pilates, meditation & movement studio that is O2 Dallas. Nothing in Dallas compares to it in my opinion in the great location off the Katy trail, with great other shops, restaurants & Alive & Well all under the same roof in the upscale new building that is "The Terminal". I like it a lot & am grateful O2 came to Dallas because this city needed a place like it! O2 Dallas...
Read moreMy massage was great, but the interactions with front desk staff was severely disappointing. Didn’t feel welcomed while waiting. They say “oxygen” is included yet nobody offered before service (I didn’t know I had to ask?). No water was offered while waiting- then the oxygen machine was out of service in my massage room. Would be fewer stars had My massage not been so wonderful. Front desk staff just seemed into themselves and curt . Not what you’d expect in Aspen. Over the phone I had booked a Swedish massage for 90 min @ $200, but then at check out they said it was $230? Because I had asked for a hard touch, it was then considered an “deep tissue, athletic massage”? Guess the description of Swedish massage should be updated from, “This personalized experience is designed to address your specific needs and preferences” either way I should have been notified when the price of my massage was going to change. Lady at the front desk could have cared less. Would not...
