Few things to note. I'm not much of a reviewer here but felt I needed to say something. Some good, mostly bad. I'll get some things out of the way so it doesn't seem like I'm just dropping an awful review with no redeeming factors.
The good:
The young man at the cashier was very nice and helpful.
The sandwhich was good. (Take note, I did NOT say meal).
The bad, in sequence:
For two people, my total came out to about 53-55 dollars including a tip. (Around 45 without). Did we order a lot? No. Two sandwiches that included soup, and two bottles of water (the water was cheap non-name brand, and cost 3.50 each).
We waited almost 40 minutes for two grilled cheese sandwiches. Mind you it was us and two other people in the store, we were the first to order.
Upon getting our sandwiches we were told that the tomato soup was not avaliable because it wasn't done cooking. This was AFTER we paid for the soup and sandwiches. We were offered a "free" bag of chips. If I paid for soup, didn't recieve said soup, and then offered something of lower value in its place, it's not free, it's called getting ripped off. So 40 minutes just for our sandwiches, not even the included soup. I was done with my sandwhich in 5 minutes tops. It was small.
The place was full of fruit flies (mind you this was right at opening) which leads me to believe there is some sort of cleanliness issue, but it's speculation. They were there regardless. We were swatting them away the entire time we ate.
After paying over 50 dollars for a cheese sandwhich and no soup included I found that both my partner and I were still hungry. I really wanted to like this place but my experience was beyond unsatisfying.
If you value your money, go to Publix and make your own grilled cheese. You'll have it done in 10 minutes and have everything you paid for.
I only rated service 3 stars because the cashier was a nice guy and deserved his tip. The lack of food was...
Read more& Cheese is an Atlanta-based eatery specializing in sourdough gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. It is located in the top level of Lenox Mall closest to Bloomingdale’s. & Cheese is clean, bright, and comfort-chic. I love the tabletops with maps showcasing popular metro-Atlanta neighborhoods. Customer service was solid. Food and beverage always comes out in a reasonable timeframe.
I ordered The Vinings (Smoked gouda and munster, lobster mac & cheese), The Little 5 Points (Seasoned sourdough, pepperoni jack, aged white cheddar, swiss cheese, gruyere, spicy pickles, honey), tomato soup, and banana pudding cheesecake, and pineapple ginger lemonade. During a prior visit, I have also enjoyed the Ormewood (Seasoned sourdough, vegan sausage, collard greens, vegan cheese blend, balsamic glaze, caramelized onions, portobello mushrooms).
& Cheese truly elevates the humble grilled cheese sandwich. Every sandwich is pressed and dressed in front of you and they do not skimp on the cheese! I don't think you could go wrong with any of the sandwiches - it's more a preference of which sandwich excites your taste buds more.
My favorite sandwich so far is the Little 5 Points. It is advertised as a play on sweet and spicy, but I think it's more of a take on sweet and tangy. The hint of spice in the pepperoni jack and pickles really balances the honey finishing drizzle.
& Cheese is known for its gourmet sandwiches. However, I also visit for the soup and their desserts. The soup is not chunky and is flavorful. I would recommend buying the large; the small is rather small and I love having soup to take to work for lunch.
I also love the notion of dessert in a jar, and their cheesecakes (strawberry crack, banana pudding, and peach cobbler) are really good.
My general rule of thumb is that you should order juices in label-less containers. The pineapple ginger lemonade has a good sweetness level and just enough ginger not to overwhelm...
Read moreWhere to begin, we arrived at 11:00 am New years day. There were others already waiting.
(Should've taken that as a clue & left)
The associate (only one working) looked extremely out of it. Kept repeating things. She informed us that Her co-workers had not shown up and that she was "getting over" last night..
My wife and daughter proceeded to order 1/2 grilled cheese & and soup. I ordered whole grilled cheese & soup. We ordered from their menu, with no substitutions or changes.
50 MINUTES later, our sandwiches burnt to an unappetizing black crisp, were setting on the counter getting gold.
The associate was serving tomato soup & pouring into tiny styrofoam cups.
Getting ancy & missing a water my wife had ordered, i was standing by the counter. The associate remarked she would bring food over to our table.
I obliged, when serving our food, she told us that soup was cold & that we could get potato chips, and my wife asked If she could get hot soup. The associate again offered potato chips.
With 3 inedible sandwiches, missing water & and cold soup, We asked for a refund. Associate brought a slip of paper over saying she had refunded our money. Of course, minus tip.
The "atmosphere" lol
I wish I could rate less than one star on Google. Hip-hop music That associate turned volume up on while we were waiting for our food with constant N words & F bombs.
Other customers a young couple were arguing on which chemical this associate was stoned on, either pills or pot!!! I have no idea, but something definitely wrong.
All of which made this a...
