AZN (Simple. Seasonal. Healthy) Georgia St. University — Restaurant in Atlanta

Our plan was to go to Stir House across the street but they were closed so we ended up over here. Plus, it was raining hard and we didn’t want to spend a lot of time figuring something else out.

The options for lunch seemed like a good variety. There were rice, bowls, noodle bowls, and salad bowls to order and to build your own. Ordered the salmon bowl. The salmon was a little fishy, not fresh. It wasn’t terrible. It came with a decent amount of greens , about two scoops of rice. It was filling, flavorful and tasty. I liked the different textures and taste that were offered, including the cold edamame and carrots paired with the warm rice, salmon and salmon sauce. Some of the rice was crunchy as if they scraped the side of the pot into my bowl.

I also ordered a fresh juice.—Up Beet. It was refreshing but I didn’t taste any ginger.

Place your order at the kiosk. The service was cordial. It seemed as though only one of the three employees spoke fluent English food came out fast and the drinks came out even faster. The place is clean and the restroom was exceptionally clean.

Parking is horrendous. This restaurant is located on the Broad Street strip of rest restaurants downtown across from Woodruff Park so there’s only street parking in this surrounding streets. Broad Street is closed off for pedestrians only. The restaurant on Broad Street are great too. Check out if you’re already downtown doing business or at Georgia State. I heard rumors from a friend about boba on GSU campus and I was not disappointed. Came here today after class and found out they also do food. If you ever need somewhere to eat downtown, definitely come here! The food is healthy, fresh and seasoned amazingly! I had the Salmon rice bowl with toppings like kimchi and other sauces and I was surprised by the large portion size and the quality of the salmon. Its really hard to find good salmon downtown but they nailed it. It was freshly cooked to order. I also had the taro boba milk tea and I loved the flavor and simplicity. I got both of them for 20 dollars, with the salmon rice bowl being 13, which is way cheaper than other similar asian style places where they over charge for food that is subpar and not fresh. At the end of my meal with friends, the manager came over and asked us about what we liked and gave us free AZN keychains(which are super cute!). I love that they openly care about hearing back from their customers, unlike many places downtown that are tone deaf to the preferences of students when it comes to wanting affordable, healthy food. I came to this restaurant about 6 months ago and honestly wasn’t impressed—the bulgogi beef was dry and lacking flavor. I didn’t even finish it, which says a lot.

Fast forward to last week: I decided to give it another shot, and wow, what a difference! I ordered the fried tofu this time, and it was hands-down one of the best dishes I’ve ever had—crispy, flavorful, perfectly seasoned.

Out of curiosity, I asked the receptionist, and it turns out they’ve changed their chef since my last visit. That explains everything.

Huge improvement. The place looks cleaner too. I’ll definitely be back...
