We stop here anytime we're in Atlanta. The atmosphere is really nice and the cheesecake is hands down THE BEST! There are so many options, it's hard to choose. The cheesecake is so rich and filling that is difficult to eat more than one slice, even though your brain and your taste buds will want to keep going.
The last few times we've gone here, we only stopped at the bar to order a couple slices of cheesecake to go. This service here has been a bit disappointing. We consistently have to wait 5+ minutes for someone to help us even if there's no line. In and of if itself this isn't too frustrating. The frustrating part is that it seems only certain people can take the orders at the bar (but they are often absent and seem annoyed about having to take the cheesecake orders), different people are supposed to actually package the cheslesecake orders, and no one is interested in doing more than their specific job.
While we're waiting at the bar for someone to take out order, there are usually several people behind the bar, but they dont even acknowledge the customers. When we've stopped them to ask if someone can take our order, they simply state that sometime else has to do that. That's fine, but it would be great if they would at least recognize the customers and go get the person who can take the orders. Same thing with the hosts and hostesses. They'll just stand at their station, right next to the bar, and watch you wait.
One time, we waited close to 10 minutes for someone to come to the bar to take our order, and then, after we placed our order, they just stood around chatting for several minutes. When we asked if we could get our cheesecake, they said that someone else had to do that. Again, no effort on their part to recognize that maybe they should go find the person who could do that. We had to stand around for another 5 minutes waiting for someone else to come. Even then, the bartender didn't tell them there was an order to package. We had to flag the person and ask them to...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Cafe Intermezzo in Midtown Atlanta, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home.
Now let's talk about the star of the show - the coffee. Oh my goodness, the coffee at Cafe Intermezzo is simply divine. I ordered a cup of their signature brew, and it was expertly brewed to perfection. The aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water. But what really took it to the next level were the white chocolate morsels sprinkled on top. It added a touch of sweetness that perfectly complemented the rich and bold flavor of the coffee.
For my meal, I decided to try the seafood crepe, and boy, was I blown away. The crepe itself was light and fluffy, and the filling was packed with a generous amount of fresh seafood. Every bite was bursting with flavor, and I couldn't help but savor each and every bite.
Next up was the spicy pasta with salmon. This dish had just the right amount of kick, and the salmon was cooked to perfection. The combination of the spicy pasta and the tender salmon created a harmonious flavor profile that left me wanting more.
Now, let's talk about dessert. I have a weakness for sweets, and Cafe Intermezzo did not disappoint. I indulged in a slice of their coconut cake with pineapple, and it was absolutely heavenly. The cake was moist and tender, and the pineapple added a refreshing burst of flavor. And let's not forget about the key lime cheesecake. The tanginess of the key lime coupled with the creamy cheesecake was a match made in dessert heaven.
Overall, my experience at Cafe Intermezzo was nothing short of amazing. The coffee, the food, and the desserts were all top-notch. I can confidently say that I will definitely be returning to Cafe Intermezzo in the near future. If you're in the Midtown Atlanta area and looking for a great cafe experience, look no further than Cafe Intermezzo. You won't be...
Read moreI'd previously left a bad review after having a really bad first experience. The staff completely forgot about me after sitting me down and providing tableware. I tried calling out to the other people on the waitstaff -- for an entire hour -- only to see them avoid eye contact and shuffle away.
I won't harp on it, but it really was a terrible first experience. Nevertheless, I came back a few more times because Midtown just doesn't have very many joints that'll serve up hot food after 10PM. Wait times are still on the long side... but that's just how it is with busy restaurants. This place's atmosphere just wouldn't be the same without so many people, so I feel OK taking the good with the bad.
Anyway, the menu is small but the food is good. It's everything one could reasonably ask for from a cafe dining experience, so give it a try.
That's the review. This next part's just a message to the management about a personal complaint...
Your loose leaf tea selection is high quality, but it may as well be lipton if you serve it in a french press as you currently do. Loose tea leaves turn bitter when steeped any longer than 4 minutes and must NEVER be crushed, french press or otherwise. Black tea might survive in a technically edible state, but the green tea I was served tasted like battery acid. I nearly choked on my crepe when a waitress set that press down in front of me and vigorously crushed those innocent tea leaves down to a fine paste.
Your heart is in the right place providing a french press as a makeshift kettle -- that's fine -- but you have to provide the tealeaves separately in a teaball. Four components: cup, kettle, teaball, saucer. Wait to put the teaball into the hot water (in the teacup, not the kettle) until it's been set at the dinnertable. Do that and you'll have the best tea service in...
