Tbh, I love my nails. Helen, who did my pedicure, was so nice and did a great job. Also, the woman who did my manicure/SNS was nice. Iāve lived across the street for 2 years and never really went here but itās so cute. Yesterday I went to get services for an upcoming Xmas party. What really is CRAZY to me, was how insanely dirty (not clean) this place isā¦from the outside it looks impeccable. But on the inside.
When I sat, the couches need to be steamed. They have lots of dirt from the traffic of people sitting. There are a TON of leaves in the entry way which they just walk over and you can tell have been there for some time.
When I sat, there are no linings in their pedicure bowls. I asked about it, they said they thoroughly clean after each service. I saw the cleaning. They had a scrub brush and a spray. For the material the scrub brush they reused and did not clean the instruments theyāre cleaning with⦠thatās like using a paper towel to wipe up a spill from chicken and then using the same paper towel to wipe your hands in my mind.
Then the pillow they placed on me to do my manicure while getting a pedicure was visibly dirty. š„¶ again from constant use.
Lastly, I got my eyebrows done. The waxing bed again! š„¶ visibly dirty. They had a little paper that covered the middle of the table but not entirely, like a runner. The bottom half had dirty from constant use and feet presumably.
That was the biggest concern. But I also booked an appointment, maybe I did it incorrectly on the website because I wanted my brows and nails done but I was there 12:15 and wasnāt seen until about 20 minutes later it was like they forgot or were scrambling even though I booked online the day prior.
Iām not sure if I want to go back, the cleanliness of the place honestly makes me nervous. Iām nervous about the lack of care to clean the fabrics and entrances of the establishment that is gorgeous from the outside. At the price of services, Iām sure they can hire a custodial person, maid or someone who will at least come in and steam items, sanitize, clear entrance ways and just help out to make the place even more elevated.
Also, I used SNS for the first time. I will say I have heard of people anxious that others are using the same powders.
I will say, we didnāt wash or sanitize, use any alcohols before placing my fingers into the powders but Iām not sure what other establishments do to keep that as safe as possible, again it was my first time with SNS. Iām honestly venting because idk what to do, the place is gorgeous from outside. Inside and up close, itās straight up dirty lol and I donāt really dwell in places that are this dirty so itās conflicting to me. Establishments are usually on point with cleaning. Maybe one slip up, but EVERY station was visibly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs much as I didnāt want to be, I have ended up completely frustrated with this place. My mother in law purchased a gift card for me on May 6th, for my birthday on the 17th. Salon stated they would deliver/send the gift card. My birthday came and went and I continued waiting for the gift card. I first started calling on June 1st and left a message inquiring about where the card was. A few days later I received a call back stating that they attempted delivery and had ended up mailing it priority, and it had been delivered. I asked for a date of delivery or a tracking number, and nothing. I assumed it had been lost in the mail or maybe was just extremely delayed. After some digging on our doorbell camera, come to find out it hadnāt even been attempted for delivery until June 2nd, almost a month after it had been ordered and several weeks after my birthday. I still hadnāt received the card, and spent the entire week calling to see if they could just cancel the card and issue me a new one, or if they could look up the number and use that. After a week of calling they said yes, I would have the credit. I had two designs I was looking for, and they request a DM on Instagram for nail art to be sure they can do it. I sent both pictures and was reassured that yes, they could do them. Day of my appointment after showing the tech my pictures, she asked me to pick something else because she couldnāt do them. I chose an ombrĆ© as a third and was told they didnāt have the colors to make it work. Alright fine. I basically gave up and said to do an ombrĆ© with a lighter and darker blue that she could do. Not really what I wanted at all, but I was just frustrated at that point and wanted to be done. Went through the appointment and went to check out. Was completely surprised about ombrĆ© being a THIRTY dollar upcharge. I know they charge extra for custom nail art, I just didnāt realize ombrĆ© fit under that description and would have appreciated that being said before she started the service. Overall, Iām frustrated over the gift card being sent almost a month after it was ordered, and by taking the time to choose two styles I thought they could do only to be told it couldnāt be done. Communication really isnāt their strong suit. Of all the nail spots in midtown, Iāll probably be picking another from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYour experience at Sugarcoat Midtown really depends on which nail tech you get. Iāve been there twice now and my experience the first time was significantly better than the second.
When you walk in the space is clean and modern. The first time I went I scheduled an appointment with Lisa, who was wonderful. Iām new to getting my nails done and she patiently went though their collection of gel polishes, trying out different shades on my nails until we found one I liked. She walked me through her entire process from start to finish, had excellent communication, and was an absolute delight. The finished manicure was great, lasted awhile, and the experience made me excited to go back.
The second time I booked online again with Lisa. When I arrived she wasnāt available and while I was looking at polishes another nail tech approached me who very sweetly found what I was looking for. She brought me to her station and started removing the gel from my nails. While she was still filing off the gel from the first nail she was told to switch clients with me. I was given no explanation for this. I was then sat with Carol and had a stressful manicure.
Carolās apple watch kept dinging loudly throughout the entire process. At one point she checks the watch notifications, but does not turn them off and the watch continues to ding. No explanation was given. As she removes the gel from my nails, she scraps my nail very harshly and when I got home I realized that Iāve actually been cut on my right pinky. Carol seemed distracted throughout the manicure, both by her dinging watch and also by watching other people walking around.
The manicure itself is ok, but the shape could be better. I was really stressed by the constant watch dinging and didnāt appreciate having my first nail tech get switched out without explanation. I regret tipping due to this unprofessionalism and wonāt be...
