I just moved back home to Atlanta and I was looking for a new nail spot in midtown. Sugarcoat made the most sense out of pure convenience because it’s walking distance from my apartment. The first experience I had with Kate was phenomenal! She did a beautiful design for my birthday and although it was a bit on the pricier end, I didn’t mind it because they turned out so great. I was looking forward to going back! Fast forward to my second experience with Annie. She also did a beautiful job, but where I felt extremely unsettled was when I went up to the front to check out. Last time, I was charged $45 for SNS and $55 for the design attached so I assumed SNS was $45 consistently across the board. However with Annie, she added an additional $15 fee on top of my SNS to file my natural nails into a coffin. I did not have any tips or anything additional added on -- just asked her to file my natural nail for SNS. I was unaware that it would be an additional cost, so the guy at the front desk removed the $5 she had added for the length of my natural nail. She came back up after I had already checked out and tipped her to complain about me not paying the additional $5. It made me feel very uncomfortable and overall disappointed. I was ready to make this my regular spot and even brought a friend with me because my first experience was so great, but neither of us will be back after the hostility that was felt at the end of my appointment. I attached images of my nails, which look amazing but wanted to give you visibility to how long my natural nails are for the additional "length and shape" fee if you choose to go here. I've been getting SNS for years and have never been penalized by paying an additional fee for the length of my natural nail. In fact, it's usually encouraged with this method.

Amazing salon in the heart of midtown. I like my nail experiences to feel luxe and clean- SC doesn’t miss. On the weekends you might even get Prosecco. Annie is one of the best nail techs in Atlanta! Her eye and precision are unmatched. Sugar coat is lucky to have her.

Mike at Sugarcoat Midtown is an absolute artist and hands-down the best nail technician I’ve ever been to. His attention to detail is unmatched, and his skill with nail design is on another level. I’ve had everything from sleek chrome finishes to delicate art and intricate abstract designs—each time, he delivers perfection. What really sets Mike apart is his creativity and ability to bring any vision to life, often making it even better than I imagined. He’s professional, warm, and always makes sure you leave with nails that not only look amazing but last. Whether it’s for a special occasion or just a treat-yourself moment, Mike makes every appointment feel like luxury. I wouldn’t trust my nails with anyone else! Additionally, Kenia at Sugarcoat Midtown is also amazing! Her pedicures are incredibly relaxing and detailed—my feet have never felt or looked better. She creates such a calm, comfortable atmosphere, and her conversation is always warm and genuine. It’s clear she cares about her clients and loves what she does. Highly recommend booking with Kenia if you want top-tier service with a personal touch!

Tbh, I love my nails. Helen, who did my pedicure, was so nice and did a great job. Also, the woman who did my manicure/SNS was nice. I’ve lived across the street for 2 years and never really went here but it’s so cute. Yesterday I went to get services for an upcoming Xmas party. What really is CRAZY to me, was how insanely dirty (not clean) this place is…from the outside it looks impeccable. But on the inside.

When I sat, the couches need to be steamed. They have lots of dirt from the traffic of people sitting. There are a TON of leaves in the entry way which they just walk over and you can tell have been there for some time.

When I sat, there are no linings in their pedicure bowls. I asked about it, they said they thoroughly clean after each service. I saw the cleaning. They had a scrub brush and a spray. For the material the scrub brush they reused and did not clean the instruments they’re cleaning with… that’s like using a paper towel to wipe up a spill from chicken and then using the same paper towel to wipe your hands in my mind.

Then the pillow they placed on me to do my manicure while getting a pedicure was visibly dirty. 🄶 again from constant use.

Lastly, I got my eyebrows done. The waxing bed again! 🄶 visibly dirty. They had a little paper that covered the middle of the table but not entirely, like a runner. The bottom half had dirty from constant use and feet presumably.

That was the biggest concern. But I also booked an appointment, maybe I did it incorrectly on the website because I wanted my brows and nails done but I was there 12:15 and wasn’t seen until about 20 minutes later it was like they forgot or were scrambling even though I booked online the day prior.

I’m not sure if I want to go back, the cleanliness of the place honestly makes me nervous. I’m nervous about the lack of care to clean the fabrics and entrances of the establishment that is gorgeous from the outside. At the price of services, I’m sure they can hire a custodial person, maid or someone who will at least come in and steam items, sanitize, clear entrance ways and just help out to make the place even more elevated.

Also, I used SNS for the first time. I will say I have heard of people anxious that others are using the same powders.

I will say, we didn’t wash or sanitize, use any alcohols before placing my fingers into the powders but I’m not sure what other establishments do to keep that as safe as possible, again it was my first time with SNS. I’m honestly venting because idk what to do, the place is gorgeous from outside. Inside and up close, it’s straight up dirty lol and I don’t really dwell in places that are this dirty so it’s conflicting to me. Establishments are usually on point with cleaning. Maybe one slip up, but EVERY station was visibly...

As much as I didn’t want to be, I have ended up completely frustrated with this place. My mother in law purchased a gift card for me on May 6th, for my birthday on the 17th. Salon stated they would deliver/send the gift card. My birthday came and went and I continued waiting for the gift card. I first started calling on June 1st and left a message inquiring about where the card was. A few days later I received a call back stating that they attempted delivery and had ended up mailing it priority, and it had been delivered. I asked for a date of delivery or a tracking number, and nothing. I assumed it had been lost in the mail or maybe was just extremely delayed. After some digging on our doorbell camera, come to find out it hadn’t even been attempted for delivery until June 2nd, almost a month after it had been ordered and several weeks after my birthday. I still hadn’t received the card, and spent the entire week calling to see if they could just cancel the card and issue me a new one, or if they could look up the number and use that. After a week of calling they said yes, I would have the credit. I had two designs I was looking for, and they request a DM on Instagram for nail art to be sure they can do it. I sent both pictures and was reassured that yes, they could do them. Day of my appointment after showing the tech my pictures, she asked me to pick something else because she couldn’t do them. I chose an ombrĆ© as a third and was told they didn’t have the colors to make it work. Alright fine. I basically gave up and said to do an ombrĆ© with a lighter and darker blue that she could do. Not really what I wanted at all, but I was just frustrated at that point and wanted to be done. Went through the appointment and went to check out. Was completely surprised about ombrĆ© being a THIRTY dollar upcharge. I know they charge extra for custom nail art, I just didn’t realize ombrĆ© fit under that description and would have appreciated that being said before she started the service. Overall, I’m frustrated over the gift card being sent almost a month after it was ordered, and by taking the time to choose two styles I thought they could do only to be told it couldn’t be done. Communication really isn’t their strong suit. Of all the nail spots in midtown, I’ll probably be picking another from...

Your experience at Sugarcoat Midtown really depends on which nail tech you get. I’ve been there twice now and my experience the first time was significantly better than the second.

When you walk in the space is clean and modern. The first time I went I scheduled an appointment with Lisa, who was wonderful. I’m new to getting my nails done and she patiently went though their collection of gel polishes, trying out different shades on my nails until we found one I liked. She walked me through her entire process from start to finish, had excellent communication, and was an absolute delight. The finished manicure was great, lasted awhile, and the experience made me excited to go back.

The second time I booked online again with Lisa. When I arrived she wasn’t available and while I was looking at polishes another nail tech approached me who very sweetly found what I was looking for. She brought me to her station and started removing the gel from my nails. While she was still filing off the gel from the first nail she was told to switch clients with me. I was given no explanation for this. I was then sat with Carol and had a stressful manicure.

Carol’s apple watch kept dinging loudly throughout the entire process. At one point she checks the watch notifications, but does not turn them off and the watch continues to ding. No explanation was given. As she removes the gel from my nails, she scraps my nail very harshly and when I got home I realized that I’ve actually been cut on my right pinky. Carol seemed distracted throughout the manicure, both by her dinging watch and also by watching other people walking around.

The manicure itself is ok, but the shape could be better. I was really stressed by the constant watch dinging and didn’t appreciate having my first nail tech get switched out without explanation. I regret tipping due to this unprofessionalism and won’t be...
