The Salty has finally opened a brand-new beautiful shop in the heart of Buckhead (thanks to Mr. Andres Rodriguez)! While they already have other locations in states like FL, TX, and NC, this ATL location will undoubtedly be a huge success and a welcome addition to the ATL donut scene because of their amazing focus on high-quality donuts, coffee, and even their "vibes." Donuts: I was fortunate to win early access via their lottery and was able try a nice spread of five donuts and one cheddar biscuit. The donut types varied but all of them boasted wonderful exterior and interior mouthfeel. The glazes and fillings were meticulously crafted, complementing the base donut flavors without overpowering them. The menu offered an enticing array of flavors, showcasing the creativity of the donut artisans behind the counter - they don't play around when it comes to donuts. From classic favorites like traditional glazed to more innovative combinations such as ube pina colada and banana cream pie, there was something to please every palate. Among the impressive selection, the Brown Butter & Salt was surprisingly my favorite as I normally do not prefer cake donuts but there was something special about the brown butter glaze and the perfect ratio of Maldon sea salt that was memorable and worthy of a special mention. *chef's kiss* Coffee: I was able to try their famous Maple & Brown Sugar Cold Brew. This signature drink was a true testament to the level of detail present in this business. The cold brew was expertly brewed, resulting in a smooth and refreshing base. The addition of maple syrup and brown sugar created a harmonious symphony of flavors, with a delicate balance between the subtle sweetness of maple and the richness of brown sugar. The cold brew was served over the perfect amount of ice, enhancing its invigorating qualities and making it the perfect companion for the donuts, along with the upcoming summer Atlanta days. Vibes: The building itself had elegant art outside, creating an inviting ambiance, and complemented the artistry that went into the creation of their delightful donuts and coffee. Stepping into the shop, I was immediately smitten by its modern yet cozy atmosphere. The space was filled with natural light while the aroma of freshly baked donuts filled the air, further heightening anyone's anticipation for what's to come. The donuts were beautifully displayed in the glass case, while friendly and attentive employees were working dutifully behind the counter. Overall, the Salty believes in the transformative power of a really freakin' good donut and a perfectly crafted coffee - and this new location does exactly that. This establishment is truly a haven for donut enthusiasts and families seeking a fond indulgent food experience in ATL. I highly recommend!

I ran across this restaurant while watching shorts on YouTube. The video I saw was for the location in Miami. I sent it to my sister who lives in Charlotte, NC. She told me that they have a location in Charlotte! she said she attended the pre-opening event. I figured if Charlotte, NC has a location, there must be one in Atlanta. To my surprise it was less than 10 miles away from me. This shop is located in Buckhead. They have a few parking spots at the rear of the building. While they do have seating inside and out, I think the goal is to grab and go. When I arrived there were only 3 people in front of me in the line. Based on reviews, I was expecting the line to be longer. When I reached the counter the staff was friendly and provided me with her favorites when I asked, I ordered the brown butter and salt donut, cookie butter cake donut, and a hot matcha latte with oat milk. My total was $20!! Yes- you read that right- two donuts and a tea cost me $20!! My donuts were packaged as I was paying for my order. I had to wait a few minutes for the matcha to be prepared. I ran to the bathroom and about 2-3 minute later the drink was ready. I enjoyed my matcha latte. Typically coffee shops use a pre- sweetened matcha, this shop does not! Please note that the switch from whole milk to oat milk is an addition $1.50!- these prices are steep. The donut that I tried was the cookie one. While it was good, it was not great. For the price I was expecting so much more. The friend that I got the other donut for said she enjoyed her flavor. Some things to note: I arrived at this spot at about 4:30pm on Saturday. They have tow restrooms and neither had tissue or looked like anyone had went in to tidy it up all day. Also, they have a cute booth section that would make for a great photo op but it appeared to double as an office and day care center today! They basically should have put a sign up that said no patrons allowed! Will I be back- it’s going to be a no for me! I do not mind paying up for items, however, this did not leave me wanting more. However , I think it’s a preference situation. I prefer the melt in your mouth kind of donut vs. the cake consistency donut. As such, I think you should check them out and see if they are serving what your taste buds enjoy!

Honest opinion, I was pulled in by the viral marketing on ig and made my way to The Salty Krog in Atlanta on Labor Day not sure if they were open or not and they were! Unfortunately my bubble was quickly burst when I walked in and noticed the donut display containers were completely empty. The reason? They didn’t anticipate being THAT busy and didn’t bake enough goods for the Labor Day traffic. I was told that the next delivery would be in about an hour or so I decided to wait. While waiting I ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk and with the tip for ringing me up included I spent over $9 for my drink and it didn’t knock my socks off for the price.

An hour later still no donuts. They basically were open for half the day turning people away and losing so much potential income. I called the other location here in Atlanta myself to understand the timeline and received the same answer about an hour! Crazy! They also sounded defensive about dropping the ball.

I decided to come back on another day to try a few donuts and was amazed to see the donut display filled! I ordered the strawberry pop tart, the banana cream pie and the tiramisu.

Here are my honest reviews of these. Banana cream pie- was my favorite! Flavor profiles were very accurate for what you would expect from this treat. Only thing I would change is the filling looks to contain real bananas and when you bite into it it comes out brown which isn’t appetizing. If you’re the type to get a box of donuts for the office or your home and eat them at your leisure I could only imagine the horror you’d find inside after a few days so keep that in mind.

Strawberry Pop-tart- this is right up my alley and the reason I came the The Salty! But unfortunately it did not give what needed to be given. I bit into mostly dry shortbread as the filling did not reach far enough into the corners like a pop tart would. The flavor profile of this strawberry poptart was not what I expected, although this is more gourmet and fancy the flavor was way too natural it didn’t even taste like Strawberry preserves, tasted homemade with no strong flavor direction. They also used frosting that doesn’t harden like a true pop-tart would. The filling flavor and amount of filling are the most important elements needed to call this a successful pop tart and they did not deliver.

tiramisu- I tried it but my mother ordered it and I didn’t like it but that’s not my flavor profile, however my mom said it was okay but needed more coffee flavor.

Total cost was over $20

Atmosphere- this is a huge one for me in a coffee shop. It felt very sterile and quiet like a library. It’s small so it should be very clean but it was not. I suggest something to catch flies because with the treats and doors constantly opening your going to have them and there needs to be a plan outside of ā€œoh wellā€. The vibe was very much work and occupation forward- the employees look afraid to engage with you, because massa might hear! 🤣 One employee hadn’t tried any of the donuts I asked about which is just a shame on mangments part. Tasting should be day one of training. Turn on some music and light a candle, the vibe isn’t there and there’s nothing decorative on the display bookshelf just completely empty. Where’s the life?

Over all- I can tell the capitol is there and the quality ingredients are there but something is missing. Looking forward to better recipes and curated vibes...

Title: Exceptional Customer Service and Hard Work at The Salty Donut Shop

Review:

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Salty Donut Shop and was thoroughly impressed with the exceptional customer service provided by Tim and Nick, the hardworking individuals who made my experience truly memorable.

From the moment I walked into the shop, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine enthusiasm for their work. Tim and Nick's commitment to customer satisfaction was evident, as they went above and beyond to ensure that each customer felt welcomed and attended to.

Their helpful nature was truly commendable. They were extremely knowledgeable about the various donut flavors and menu options available, patiently answering my questions and offering suggestions based on my preferences. They took the time to explain the ingredients and flavors, allowing me to make an informed decision.

Their dedication to their work was apparent in their efficient and organized approach. Despite the shop being busy during my visit, They managed to handle the rush with professionalism and a calm demeanor.
