I will start off by saying the snooze is my absolute favorite restaurant for breakfast, so Iād be really want a good experience, avoid this location at all cost. The one in West Midtown is amazing. Go there and save yourself the time and headache. I went with my family to this location on Sunday for the first time and it will definitely be my last. We chose this location because we were staying in town for a family birthday and this was the closest one, it also said on the app that there was no wait or line to join. ( I personally love this feature about snooze because you can get on the waiting list before even arriving to save yourself the wait time.) the hostess proceeds to the person in front of me that sheās writing down phone numbers to add to a waitlist and we had to wait another 45 minutes. Honestly, this was a little ridiculous already, but we were there so we said OK. There was four families on the waitlist one of them was a party of seven, we were a party of eight. The hostess, a woman with dreads and a lip piercing, told us that if we wanted to sit together, we had to wait for that family of seven to order each pay and finish, because that was the only table in the whole location that could accommodate a family of eight. She said I walked to the restroom and realized that all the tables in the store were able to move around; I also noticed a table of 4 empty as well as a table of 2 so I asked the other hostess that was sitting us if we could use those tables and sit together. She seemed to be able to facilitate the move but before she could even say a word that other hostess came out from front of place to ask us āwhatās the problem? What was going on,ā when we asked to sit at the booth of 6 that we would make it work she said it would mess up the sitting app. Another guest; not with our party even offered to switch tables because she was in a party of 2. Once we sat down, we had a server named Ashton, he was amazing and honestly what, saved the experience. We ordered lattes and a couple of drinks from the bar area after about 35 minutes on waiting for a drinks that we finally asked Ashton where they were. He said the bartender hadnāt made them, but he was gonna go get the manager. The manager then came over to our table to apologize for taking so long, at that point we knew that something had gone down with the hostess because why wouldnāt we be getting served something as simple as coffee and milk in a glass. we asked our server Ashton if the hostess had blackballed us to the bartender and his response was I donāt know what she did, but it had nothing to do with me. š³
Once the food arrived, the food was great. It always is I appreciate noodles for being consistent with the delivery of food but the overall service and management of this location was really really...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSnooze is a wonderful breakfast option for a group, or a solo diner (like myself), while their partner gets their nails done next door. I walked in around 10am and was the first to sit at the indoor bar area. The two running the counter promptly greeted me and while one had a slight attitude (nothing major but not the level of friendliness expected), they both did well to keep up with the influx of new diners after I arrived.
The Snooze house blend coffee is good, not great, but marks above Starbucks and the like. It is a lighter roast with a hint of acidity that would do well as an iced coffee (I drank it hot and black).
Before my food arrived, I ordered a standard mimosa (choice, orange). The pour on the Snooze sparkling was ~80% of the glass, while that was a great value, I did not anticipate drinking that much. Other than that, it was a standard mimosa.
For my main, I decided on the Habanero Pork Belly Breakfast Fried Rice. It seemed to be a new menu item and Iām a sucker for pork belly so it was the natural choice. Overall, itās a solid dish with one outstanding ingredient - the pork belly. I couldāve eaten an entire plate of it alone; it was tender, crisp, and flavorful with a nice heat. Speaking of heat, I do well with heat and I would call it a 3-4 on a scale of 10, so it packed a little punch but was well balanced by the freshness of the pineapple. I do recommend having water though, as it was tough to follow with hot coffee or the mimosa.
After I finished, I sat with my finished and empty dish for close to 10 minutes, before being asked if I wanted the check or needed anything else. Again, itās a little thing and my purpose today was killing time, but I wouldāve liked to see a little more attentiveness to someone sitting right at the bar.
On a positive note, a man who sat down the bar from me had an issue with his toast not being ātoastedā and in less than 2 minutes they a full of plate of definitely toasted toast for him. He may have been being a little dramatic but the response from the staff was solid and did not try to fight him on it all.
Overall, 4.6/5 on the standard rating system. Ideally an average restaurant would around a 3/5 which would make me rate Snooze around a 4, but if even casual places do not have close to a 5 many people donāt even consider them which a gross disservice to many businesses. Donāt let the 3.9 āļø or whatever it changes to deter you, Snooze deserves a chance.
With an alcoholic beverage, expect to spend around $20-25 a person.
(ps. The picture of the pork belly fried rice was taken after I started eating to send to a friend, the actual portion filled the dish to a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had just gotten a facial nearby and was looking for somewhere to get a meal. I saw Snooze and walked in. The bartender got someone to assist me but before they could get a word out, a young man started yelling that the kitchen was closed. I quickly apologized because I just hate to be that person who shows up around closing.....especially since there was a sign outside with the hours of operation that I totally bypassed. I thanked the bartender and walked out. Jarah came running outside apologizing and assured me that they could accommodate me if I came back in. So I followed her back in p and she seated me. Meghan came over and introduced herself as my waitress and gave me a menu. She apologized as well. I told her not to worry about it because I understand. In that moment, the same young man from earlier went into the kitchen and began screaming about how the kitchen was closed but they went and got me from outside anyway. He went on and on. I felt so uncomfortable and I could tell Meghan was uncomfortable as well because she was standing right next to my table. I politely grabbed my belongings and told her I would be leaving because it felt like I was intruding. Also, who wants an angry person handling their food? When I went outside, I stood out there for a moment googling nearby restaurants so that I could get some food. I then hear someone trying to get my attention. He introduced himself as Andy and asked that I come back in. I shared my concerns with him but he assured me that I was wanted and appreciated. He informed me that he would be waiting on me and that my meal would be on the house. I reluctantly followed him back in. From them on, the service was immaculate. Andy is the epitome of great customer service. He made sure everything was to my liking and suggested a great meal for me. After my meal, he thanked me for giving them another try. Him, Jarah and Meghan really saved this experience for me. They definitely know what it is to serve. I didnt get the bartender's name but she offefed me beautiful flowers as well. I will 100% be back only because of those...
