First of all, I would give 0 stars if I could. My wife wanted a waffle. Our waiter Kevin informed my wife that they also served pecan waffles which weren’t on the menu. My wife asked Kevin how much more for the pecan waffle. Kevin replied it’s the same priced as the regular waffle. I ordered a pecan waffle and my daughter ordered a regular waffle. The food came and my daughter and wife’s waffles were cold. My waffle was a not a pecan waffle but a regular one. Cool. So my daughters and wife’s remade food finally arrived and my daughter’s order was wrong. (A pecan waffle) So she had to wait almost ten minutes for Kevin to come around and notice her order was wrong. She had to order another waffle. Fast forward to the bill. We were charged for two pecan waffles. I never received a pecan waffle. My wife was charged for a pecan waffle after she ate it. We told Kevin and he said the pecan waffle was $2 more like it was was no big deal and would not take the $4 off. You can’t tell someone the wrong price and then expect them to pay for your mishap. We asked for the manager who took his time to come. I informed him of the situation and he said he would adjust the ticket. This man only took off $2 for my waffle and $0 for my wife’s. He didn’t even deal with my daughters situation. Her food should have been discounted or free. She had to watch us eat while her waffle was made for the third time. Two dollars is nothing but Kevin and manager you can’t give wrong prices and expect people to pay after finishing their meal. Kevin if it’s just $2 YOU gave the wrong price so your response should have sorry I will take care of that. Not try to shade and my manager is coming for the $2. You’re not slick buddy we caught it! You both should be ashamed we didn’t ask for free food just courtesy and fair service. I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know in Atlanta and surrounding communities to not step foot into this establishment! We should have known the service was not going to be great when the hostess had an attitude. No wonder it was not a wait everyone was at Toast of Lenox down the street. There was an hour and...
Read moreMy husband and I eat out frequently and sometimes the restaurant is a hit and sometimes it's a miss. The South City Kitchen Buckhead couldn't miss even if it tried hard. We were there early this morning around 10:30; there was no crowd, we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and shown to our table by a very pleasant hostess. I had no idea we would end up having a meal here and was dressed very casually. I was a bit nervous that we wouldn't be served; but the hostess reassured me I was fine and it was not a problem.
We met our server Krystal right away. she was kind, professional and an expert on every single item on the menu. She described every dish, gave us suggestions about what we might like to order as first time guests. I have a gluten intolerance so she pointed out what was safe to consume and what was not.
We have all been to those restaurants where the servers are a little overzealous and come to the table after every bite. Krystal was the opposite, as if it were expertly orchestrated she showed us in timely intervals. We had a few things we needed in addition to our food; hot sauce, paper napkins, and gluten free toast, etc. She was never impatient, never had an attitude but cheerfully got us all the items we needed.
The food was absolutely delicious! I had she crab soup, chicken sausage and a spinach frittata, my husband had fried green tomatoes, and the king biscuit. You know the food is going to be great when you get excited as it's presented and you get your phone out immediately to get a picture before grace or a single bite!. I cannot say enough about this restaurant. We had a great time, excellent service (Krystal deserves a medal) and were treated by everyone with courtesy and professionalism. We are seasoned diners who can tell off the bat when an establishment's staff has been well trained. This was most definitely the case at South City Kitchen. We have already decided to return and will ask for Krystal by name! P.S. The banana pudding we ordered to go was very good. Thank you South...
Read moreSumming up my review - food was great, the server was good, but the timing and the waiting for the food to arrive was bad. My wife and I went to a concert on Valentines Day and planned to spend a romantic dinner at South City Kitchen. We've had reservations for a month so it wasn't last minute. We arrived 5 minutes before the reservation time and sat for 15 minutes waiting on the table.
The first sign of trouble was the hostess calling for us by my first name instead of my last name. This caused additional waiting time as three other couples with the same first or last name stood up and the hostess didn't check to make sure they had the right couple. Fast forward 10 minutes, we were seated in a loud area upstairs. Since the restaurant was full we weren't able to get a better table and even sitting next to each other it was difficult to hear. Due to the low lighting and the faint print on the special occasion menu, it was difficult to read. The waitress came by to take our drink order and 20 minutes later it arrived. We were told the bar was super busy and backed up. Shortly after the drinks arrived, we placed our appetizer order and it took an additional 20 minutes to arrive. While waiting for the appetizers, we placed our order for dinner.
The appetizers were good. Fast forward to one hour and 20 minutes at the table, our food arrived - about 45 minutes after we placed our order. This was after the server told us on two occasions that the kitchen was backed up and we told the waitress that we were not hungry any longer. She brought the manager over who apologized but offered nothing to make up for the delays. While waiting we saw multiple couples come after us and leave before us. Overall the food was good but it felt like a forced feeding as both of us were no longer hungry when we ate.
For the price we paid, and the amount of time we waited, I do not recommend the restaurant. The bar, the kitchen, the wait staff, and the manager might benefit from...
