This is going to be a long review. My family and I went here on Friday (November 24th) and we had very high expectations for the restaurant/juke joint. There is little to no parking in front of the restaurant, but there is a parking garage around the corner behind the restaurant. We didn’t have reservations, but they were able to seat us almost immediately. There is a cover charge of $10 per person whenever the band is playing whether you sit in the front or the back. We sat at our table for a few minutes before our waitress came to get orders for drinks. After we placed them, it took several minutes to get our drinks (closer to fifteen minutes). During the time we were honestly back and forth on what we wanted to order for our appetizers/food so the waitress gave us a few more minutes to decide. After about 10 minutes she came back and we ordered food for the whole table. I also asked for an alcoholic drink but she did not remember (They do not write down orders at the table from what it seemed it was all memory that they relied on). While we waited for our food we noticed that customers that came in after us received their food well before us. That’s fine. About 30 minutes or so passed from the time we ordered til the time we received our food. It was busy in there so it was understandable. My husband ordered fried chicken with greens and fries, and I ordered their chicken and waffles. To say the least the food was very subpar for the both of us. My cousins had fried chicken with green beans and also ribs with fries. My cousin stated that the ribs were not edible at all and that they were very tough. He was not lying because the whole time he had them I only saw him take one bite. Ribs are supposed to be fall off the bone delicious not tough like jerky (unless you like your ribs cooked like that). Out of the 4 plates on the table only one was eaten about 60%. My cousin asked the waitress for the manager and she returned saying that they didn’t want to come out to hear the feedback about the ribs. Odd but like I said earlier it was busy so maybe that is why they didn’t want to come speak. They did however rectify the situation by voiding the ribs from our check. We were given a gratuity fee of 18% automatically no matter that it was just 4 of us. All in all, the atmosphere was okay, but the food is just subpar. The staff may need to have a revamp because the whole time we were there, they seemed to not take their jobs seriously. It’s okay to laugh and joke, but to do it while your customers are sitting in front of you clearly waiting for you to come tend to us is an issue. Also attitudes as well. Maybe in the future there will be some type of menu change. If you want to come here be prepared for a $10 fee per person for the live band and also the 18% gratuity fee. Gentlemen will also have to remove their hats once inside the restaurant. Lastly, you will see a sign letting you know of the $5 charge for live music when it is really $10. You will be told that you have to pay that anytime the band is playing, but let’s be honest the band is always playing. I am being generous giving the establishment 2 stars because our experience was not good at all from the food to the service.

Before covid, Me and my husband only came to Sweet GA Juke Joint on average once a year due to their no hat policy for men. It had been a while so we decided to check it out and made a reservation – so Last Wednesday for date night (March 30, 2022) we came for dinner and live music. Table for two at 5:45 pm. Here is what is still the same: Of course, the live music and vocalist were great. Men still can’t wear hats – not even a fedora. Here are a few things we wished we knew ahead of time. First, there is no more Valet parking! But good news- the parking garage is right around the corner. Bring your parking ticket in with you, and once the Juke Joint puts the validation sticker on it you will pay $6 for parking. The address to the parking garage is on the juke joint website. Second, pack your patience…..the QR code on the table is not just the menu! It is a link to an app where you order and pay for your food and drink. The good – You can choose to start a tab on the app so that your card isn’t charged each time you order – our server was super helpful, he sensed our frustration with the app. The bad – You need to know what is in your cocktail if you are not ordering a cocktail from their menu. For example, if you want a “side car”, “old fashioned”, “classic lemon drop martini” – you need to select the alcohol and mixers on the app that go in the cocktail. Gratuity is automatic!!!!! We normally tip based on the customer service but the app doesn't allow for that. The ugly – I interpreted the instructions as only one phone can order per table (ask your server to confirm). Once we reached the table time limit (2 hours) the tab was automatically closed and we received a text saying thanks for coming, here is your receipt. There was no time to leave an additional tip for our server (I wanted to tip more than 18%). Normally during date night we don’t have our phones out, but you literally need a phone if you want to eat or drink. Once you finally maneuver through the app, you can try to enjoy your time. The chicken that comes with the chicken and waffle dish was delish and seasoned! The catfish nuggets were a little soggy but we didn’t send it back for fear of having to order again using the app. The cocktails were also good, the bartender knew what she was doing with the "side car". We met the owner that evening and shared some of our thoughts, he was super cool about it. For now, we will keep our once a year visit.

I was excited to try this place because I love live music. We had a reservation and were able to be seated fairly quickly on a Wednesday evening (around 8pm). Their ordering process is terrible. You order and pay via a QR code on the table (which is fine...many places are doing this), however we ordered cocktails and appetizers first as suggested by the "waitress" that came by to show us how to use the QR code and add the required per person entertainment fee. We waited about 10 minutes to order the meal thinking the appetizer and drinks would come out first/soon and to allow time to cook the entree. The meal came out first and when we asked about the appetizer the lady said sometimes it comes out later. She then proceeded to bring the appetizers right after. The drinks did not come out until we were almost finished with the meal. Nothing stood out. The smothered pork chop was more fat than meat (see the pictures). Literally there was hardly any meat. The green beans had no flavor. The rice and gravy was the best part and tasted good. The mac and cheese was ok. The fried green tomatoes with the okra and onion strings lacked flavor. The green tomatoes could have been cooked just a little more. The fried catfish strips lacked flavor as well. The drinks were very strong and tasty. The ambiance is nice and the music was great. We probably won't be back even with having an apartment in a high rise (walking distance) nearby. They really need to review the food ordering and delivery to the table process. You can't even go back to see an itemized list. We had to find the waitress to ask for a copy and then saw we were charged for something that we never received. Most people want to enjoy their drinks and appetizers while listening to the music, and then the food. I prefer to not having the entree come first, immediately followed by the appetizers and finally the cocktails when you are almost finished with the meal.

Long winded review of my experience with this establishment. If you want to know the details read below and if you need the short-form DON’T GO. If you are person like me and you are reading reviews trying to make a decision here is your answer DON’T GO. I’ll help you and suggest for you to try Ted’s Montana Grill you won’t be disappointed.

I stopped by Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint on 9/30/23 a few minutes right before 4:30. This is my first time in Atlanta, GA (I came here for a women’s conference) and decided to explore the downtown Atlanta area. I looked at the website for Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint as well as the information on Google. It looked cute and being an out of towner I like to eat at local eateries and figured I would give this a try. I also saw that the restaurant offered a peach cobbler and was looking forward to eating something peachy since I’m in Georgia. I walked from the Coca-Cola museum up the hill to reach this restaurant. Hot, sweating, and tired I was happy when I finally made it. The happiness stopped suddenly as I walked into that restaurant. There were 3 young ladies at the hostess station that just stared at me when I approached the station. There was no hello, hi, welcome, how can I help you. Because of the very cold exchange I asked if reservations were needed which they responded no. I advised a table would be needed for two which one of the ladies began talking (for me it was mumbling) with her hands in front of her mouth. Because of the mumbling and her hands in front of her mouth I could not understand what she was saying. She clarified what she said and it was something about the amount of time you have at the table and the fee for when the band comes out in the evening if you do not leave before then. Due to the lack customer service and warm friendliness my mother and I left immediately. I didn’t care that I had just walked in the heat, up a hill, and sweating. The atmosphere of the place was awful. Being a out of towner and the area being a tourist attraction area I thought businesses would be more friendly but this is not it. I DO NOT recommend this establishment. The 3 ladies at the hostess station were not professional or welcoming. Nevertheless my mom and I went to Ted’s Montana Grill which had a excellent service and shoutout to the lady at the hostess station that was sweet. Ted’s I would tag you if I could :) but I’ll leave a sweet review on your page. Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint there is nothing sweet about your restaurant. If you are a person like I am and read reviews before going to restaurants and you made it this far let me save you the trip, walk, and disappointment but don’t go here. I can’t comment on the food since I didn’t eat it but the first customer service interaction I had was horrible. DON’T GO HERE! Go to Ted’s...

We were in the"ATL" from Louisiana for a national conference! Let me tell you about this Juke Joint.....1st off.. we went here in the 1st place because we were told about this place to be a good place to go! NOT!! ( 2nd) If the name..implies "Juke Joint"...how can you try to be a classy joint to tell us to take our hats off, when the place isn't classy.. AT ALL! huh? (3) We had a party of ppl( more than 5) and was told we needed a reservation, when this place was nowhere full! So, we sat at the bar & waited for them to setup a sitting table for us ..meanwhile we ordered cocktails...I ordered an whiskey old fashioned and the drink came out filled half way( maybe a little less), prices wasn't that bad though! Now comes the good part, hostess lady comes over to let us know that our table was ready.....and at that time...she laid it on us that.......there's a $10 per person to sit at the table while the band plays charge & you can't sit to the table no more than 2 hours....! WHAT? HUH? We trying to compute this, so some in our group went back & forth on this...so we said ..well maybe the band is good to hear some good music ! Okay fine, we'll pay it! We were then seated and waitress...Lady Sky came over to take drink orders...she was cool. But service wasn't top notch as they want it to be...my opinion! So, while waiting for drinks to arrive, we look around and seen that the band wasn't ready & playing because the lead singer.....WAS late..(CP time)!!! He went back, got dressed and started jamming, it had a good vibe for about....30 minutes tops and then....the band left the stage and went to the back! WTH! WOW! We didn't even get a good hour of singing entertainment! And we had to.leave because of this 2 hr limit! Moving on to the food.....oh boy! We ordered a variety of dishes but man I'm trying to be good here....none in our group had rave & good things to say...really! One guy in our group ordered basic chicken and waffles w/ a small container of syrup! It really wasn't enough syrup, so he asked our waitress for more....she left went in the back, then came back to tell him that it will be a dollar charge for more syrup! C'mon man...really! Dude we up in here spending money on drinks, band cover charge, the food and u come to tell me that there's yet another charge for syrup! Hell to the nah, nah!! Lol I'm going to stop right here because I've traveled to many places in country and out of country, and I know something is not right about this place!...
