Nestled in a vibrant corner of the city, The Salty Donuts stands as a beacon for donut aficionados and coffee connoisseurs alike. On a recent visit to the Frog Street location, I was captivated not just by the delectable offerings, but by the overall experience that made my stop unforgettable.
The moment you step into The Salty, you’re greeted by an array of visually stunning and creatively crafted donuts. Each one seems to tell its own story, from the classic glazed to more adventurous creations like the Cookie Monster or their signature Brown Butter Salt donut. The sheer variety is enough to entice any palate, but it’s the quality that truly sets them apart. Every bite is a testament to their dedication to perfection – light, airy, and bursting with flavour.
However, what truly elevates The Salty from a great donut shop to an exceptional establishment is its customer service. Monita, Evan, and Janelle exemplify hospitality, turning every interaction into a warm and personal experience. As I settled in with my MacBook to catch up on some work, I couldn’t help but notice their genuine enthusiasm and the effortless rapport they built with each customer. Their positive energy was not just infectious but also a masterclass in customer engagement.
Visiting from Canada, where the donut culture is practically a national treasure, I can confidently say that The Salty holds its own. In my travels and professional work with leaders and organizations focused on excellence and team development, it’s clear that the team at The Salty has tapped into a winning formula. They’re not just serving donuts; they’re creating memorable experiences with every visit.
The Salty isn’t just a place to grab a coffee and a donut – it’s a destination that embodies the perfect blend of quality, creativity, and outstanding service. Whether you’re a local or a traveler like myself, this is one spot that deserves a top spot on your list....
Read moreI finally was able to stop by The Salty Donut after seeing the talk on TikTok.
I went to the Krog St location.
Cons; The parking sucks. You have to find street parking or pay for parking which is ridiculous, since it starts at 8 bucks just to run in and grab a donut or two. So you’ll have to get creative if you go alone. If you go with a friend I would suggest parking and enjoy the area after enjoying the donuts. Etc
I called asking where the were located and about parking. The guy that answered was blah….he is the same guy who told me he was just the “ coffee guy” when arrived in the shop. As a first time customer I wanted to have happy welcome. I told him he gave me “ black coffee” energy! You all can’t have “ donuts coffee vibes” on your boxes and he gives dry vibes. It doesn’t connect with the brand. He then directed me to Alex who was on the cash register assisting customers. He said he can help you with donuts.
Pros: Alex was very helpful and had better energy than the other guy. He went over the flavors and made suggestions.
I got 3 donuts 1) Strawberry Shortcake 2) Banana Pudding 3) Samoa ( like Girl Scout cookies)
The donuts are HUGE and fresh.
Very sweet.
But I only enjoyed the Strawberry Shortcake.
I am allergic to fresh bananas and should have asked if fresh fruit was inside the banana puddin donut. Because I couldn’t eat it at all once I bit into it and discovered the fresh banana.
The Samoa one was disappointing since that’s my favorite Girl Scout cookie. It just didn’t connect.
For the price: 13 bucks I will say the price matched the quality.
Would I recommend to a friend? Yes for the strawberry shortcake flavor only.
Alex thanks again for...
Read moreOk so honestly I expected this place to be really overpriced since it's by Krog Street Market and most Atlanta coffee shops aren't cheap nowadays, but their prices ended up being more reasonable than I thought they'd be! And the garlic butter roll was really big (and delicous, ofc), so that was awesome. Service was great, it was super busy (a Sunday morning) but with only two guys behind the counter they did a great job and took orders pretty quickly. The guy who took my order was friendly, too, which I always appreciate especially as a former food service worker. I only ordered the roll and the brown sugar chai (which was also great) but omg, their donuts look incredible and I am really looking forward to coming back to try them all!
The only thing I would bring up to first time visitors is that their indoor space is pretty small and there aren't a lot of places to sit in there, so when I went there for the first time and it was really crowded I was a little overwhelmed. But I get it, a coffee/donut shop on Krog probably wouldn't be able to have a much bigger location than theirs, so I respect that. I sat in there doing work for a few hours and it did calm down a lot though, so I guess it would usually be more comfortable than when I first got there. Also they do have decent space outside with a few tables so that's great to keep in mind especially with the weather getting cooler. They've got a great playlist going too lol, I heard a little bit of everything in there.
I know this is so wordy (sorry, I'm a writer lol) but I wanted to give credit when it was due....
