No stars from me. Came into town on Friday, November 11 to celebrate my sister's birthday and we (4 women) decided to stop here first. We stood by the bar for a good 7 mins while the bartender (skinny male with beard) was talking away, tried to get his attention and he finally saw us. He asked us if we were siting or just ordering, we told him we were ordering so we can walk around, he proceeds to tell us to move 3 steps over to place order, so we did. My sister went first and he said he needed all of our ID's which we had ready, when he looked at my sister's ID he said, you have a birthday coming up. She shockingly said "yes I do" and the bartender said to her why do you look shocked and she said I'm impressed because most bartenders do not even notice the date most of the time. He looked at us and said: "You know what I'm not serving you all", we thought he was joking and we laughed and he continued to say " You have insulted me, so you all can go, I'm not serving you and I'm not taking your money". We still did not understand how he was insulted. Too bad for him he missed out on a good amount of alcohol sales and a big tip. I think he should reconsider working in the service industry. I've worked at a bar and it didn't matter what people said as long as they were buying and tipping. I still wished I could have...
Read moreUPDATED: Two years ago, I gave HopCity a 5 star review due to the loyalty of the staff, the kindness of the people that worked there, and the beer selection, though it wasn't always my "Cup of tea". There has been a change in staff, and they seem to dislike people they know nothing about, judgmental if you will. That being said, I was physically assaulted by a patron at the bar one evening, did not retaliate at all, and the other guest was escorted out of the market. Somehow, I received a "ban" from the bar, NOT the market. The market staff, security, etc. still asks me on a regular basis why I'm not allowed at their bar, and I take the high road and tell them to take it up with them. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars there since it opened (I know this, because my accountant points it out), and yet I'm told I'm not welcomed by something violent that I did not do.
Since this is the management's take on violence; that does not involve their staff, but their patrons, and a patron that did not partake in the violence, I highly encourage anyone passing through to spend your money elsewhere. They fail to realize that I can sue them for negligence & premises liability. They will try to reverse this review, but I encourage anyone that reads this to reach out to me directly, and I will gladly let them know what has happened....
Read moreThe most RUDE service I have ever had. They have a full liquor bar and after asking for two simple drinks that they did not have the ingredients to I asked for a simple cosmo. The lady bartender didn’t seem too confident so I asked her if she felt like she could make the drink. She told me that for future reference that it was “degrading” to ask a bartender if they could make a drink. I explained to her that I have had very bad cosmo’s before and I was just making sure that she could make it. I asked her if she would like me to leave since I “degraded” her and she implied that she would.
After I had left with no drink my friend went to the counter to order a drink and was told that she would be right with her. She stood there for 5 minutes waiting on this girl to take her order. The lady bartender just stood there and acted like she didn’t see her so my friend just left.
It is honestly so sad that you cannot ask a simple question without someone taking it personally and then refusing to offer you decent service let alone any sort of...
