Not sure why it's taken me so long to write this review -- we visited December of 2024, but should still be current. This place is the best of the best. Ever been at a dive bar and said "man I could really use some sweetbreads right now" - this is your spot. Ever been at an upscale restaurant and thought "I wish our waiters were cooler and more casual" - this is your spot. If you're a person with a brain, a tongue, a stomach and eyes that see things, this is your spot. The ambience: immaculate. Dive bar meets pizzeria meets your parent's basement. Dim lighting, cool chairs at the bar, stuff hanging on the walls, man. The menu is designed well - culinarily and graphic-designery. Cool to look at and take in and then wonder how you're ever going to decide. We went pretty starters-heavy, because those are almost always more interesting. Steak tartare was a club standard (well-priced well-dressed classics on the side). ALMOST classic but with an Asian twist. Kewpie dollop, and left the plate a little greasy because the chili crush. Used to bread or overcooked chips with your tartare? How about a thicc and refreshing slice of slightly spicy daikon radish? We want this everywhere now. We got talked into the sweetbreads because we'd never had sweetbreads, and man...unreal. Wok veg was OK (cabbage for us when we went). We split the stroganov, had too many drinks, and got both desserts (chocolate mousse and some kinda cake). I think we were too busy enjoying it to take pictures. We got a couple amaros in fancy sippers to finish. Really appreciate the intense selection of fortified to finish. Pretty sure our server's name was Blake, and I'm not sure if they try to match you with a guy who shares your name, but at this place I wouldn't doubt it. Overall, menu - incredible and beautifully and thoughtfully pieced together and organized, both food and drink. Didn't even MENTION the drinks, but this bar menu is singular - vermouth with Narragansett, Herbal Liqueur & Rosemary, brandy & rhum Agricole....and all other things your flannel-wearing uncle would dream up for the family to enjoy. Starts entertaining and awing before it even comes out. I have a big gripe about $200+ meals being worth it, but the menu pricing here is exactly where it should be for the quality. Experience: incredible. Graphic design everywhere you look: immaculate. And this place is in a FOOD HALL. If you're going to Atlanta, you've got to go to Ticonderoga Club. Even if you have no plans to go to Atlanta, you've got to go here. You'll be leaving with great memories, full bellies, a newly invigorated appreciation of food & drink, and probably a...
Read moreTiconderoga Club is a one of a kind bar/restraunt experience that Atlanta has to offer.
If you are a foodie, but also enjoy a few drinks, then this is a solid spot. The menu is well crafted and well-executed, featuring what I would consider to be 'upscale' bar food. Very savory, rich, and usually doused in sauces and such.
I sat at the bar, had a few drinks, and enjoyed a spread of items from the menu.
First off was the eggplant dish. Cooked and tender eggplant, served on a bed of rice along with crispy fried anchovies and toasted coconut and greens. The eggplant was very soft and mushy, coated in sauce. This dish was doused with a 'basil sauce', which is more similar to a teriyaki sauce, salty and savory. Overall, it was solid and huge portion-wise.
Next I had the crispy veal sweetbreads. Fried pork/lamb thymus glands, which for me was not great. Overall it was quite gamey and chewy, with the very center being near inedible because of the chew. Would not order this one again. It tasted like chewy fried chicken.
Finally, I went with the 'heritage pork "secreto"'. This was the standout dish for me, albeit I don't feel like it was worth the cost of the most expensive food item on the menu. About 8 oz of a thin cut 'pork chop' which was cooked about medium. If you don't mine your pork having a pink center, than this one is for you. I personally was not a fan of the undercooked parts as they were quite chewy and just not great. I had about 80% of this dish. The base layer of local greens was very greasy and undercooked, quite chewy. The mushrooms that accompanied the dish were massive and definitely undercooked, not good. Like trying to chew a brick of playdoh. Needs to be cooked longer/hotter. The toasted almonds on top were a great touch, I'd even recommend some fresh roasted garlic as well. Overall decent dish, but not worth the money.
The bartenders were fantastic, albeit I forget their names. We talked for a couple hours about food and restraunts, and they gave me some great advice on places to check out. The bar experience is great, would definitely recommend.
Overall, this is a solid hole in the wall bar/restraunt. The cuisine is definitely a step up from your average bar food, but nothing to go out of your way for. Good...
Read moreI have been a regular at Ticonderoga for more than 10 years, and I can confidently say it is the best dining experience Atlanta has to offer. As a Parisian, this restaurant feels like home to me. It is elegant, consistently delicious, and always impeccable in service.
The menu evolves with the seasons, showcasing the chef’s creativity while keeping signature staples like the ceviche, tartare de bœuf, and sweetbreads, each given a seasonal twist that keeps them exciting and fresh. Their approach to vegetables is extraordinary. They understand them, respect them, and bring out their fullest flavor. The same is true with spices and sauces. Every element is perfectly balanced, layered, and deeply satisfying. You can tell this is a kitchen that truly knows what it is doing.
What makes Ticonderoga even more special is the team behind it. The staff is remarkable, consistent, professional, and warm, with a level of attentiveness that is rare to find in Atlanta. Over the years, I have seen the same faces again and again, and you can feel that everyone here loves what they do and is exactly where they are meant to be. That kind of passion comes through in every plate and every interaction.
Ticonderoga is more than a great restaurant. It is a hidden gem that has managed to seamlessly combine the best of Central American flavors with the refinement of French technique, adding its own distinct twist. Every visit is both comforting and inspiring, which is why, after a decade of dining here, it remains my...
