I can't say that I flew all the way from Texas exclusively to visit this restaurant, but I did significantly alter my plans for the week to make this a part of my time in Atlanta. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable while also being a little bohemian. The meal was like a snapshot of the time and place. Atlanta had gotten the first dose of cooler weather sitting right between the summer and the fall and the meal matched. Shai started the meal with a fresh braided challah and a mix of late summer vegetables and contrasting flavors. The tomatoes were the best I've had that weren't grown by me or a family member. The cured silver mullet roe made the aioli rich and strong. He brought us a main course of braised beef shank and chickpea stew which were flavorful and appropriate for the weather. I looked longingly at several fish dishes going to other tables but tried to put on a good face for my friend who didn't eat seafood which had prompted Shai to keep our meal a little more farm fed. She apologized a few times, but Shai's alternatives didn't disappoint. The mullet roe was a rare treat but the psychological impact of the last course won't be forgotten. I grew up in East Texas and Louisiana. Most people look down on Muscadines and fox grapes, but I've got a lot of memories of climbing trees and peeling warm wild grapes and muscadines in the sunshine. When the tea cup full of sparkling peeled muscadines came out I probably teared up a little. Thanks for everything guys. I hope to...
Read moreI’ve been to a fair share of tasting menus, pop-ups, and chef collabs around the city, but the Israeli cuisine x Askaneli Georgian wine pairing dinner at The Third Space took things to another level. This wasn’t just a series of courses—it was a full cultural and sensory immersion.
The evening started with a beautiful introduction by Chef Shai Lavi, who set the tone for what would become a seamless flow of creativity and tradition. Each course brought something new—whether it was a herbaceous tahini-drizzled starter or a slow-roasted lamb shoulder with spice blends I had never tasted before. These weren’t just dishes—they were experiences.
But what made it truly shine was how each dish was intelligently paired with wine. Askaneli’s selections were bold, unusual, and deeply expressive. I’ll never forget the amber wine paired with a smoked eggplant dish—it was the kind of pairing that made you stop talking just to focus on what was happening in your mouth. The crowd was diverse—some foodies, some wine lovers, some just curious guests—and yet the room felt unified, like everyone was on the same journey. Conversations flowed easily between tables, and by the end of the night, we all felt like part of something bigger.
What The Third Space is doing with these one-night events is more than dinner—it’s storytelling, connection, and hospitality at its highest level. I left feeling inspired, satisfied, and already looking at my calendar for...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to The Third Space in Atlanta, I was utterly captivated by the culinary brilliance and vibrant atmosphere that this gem of a restaurant offers. The hummus, without exaggeration, was the best I've tasted in the United States; it had a perfect blend of flavors that was both rich and comforting. The fish dish I tried was a revelation in itself - tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. But it didn't stop there; the eggplant with meat was a masterpiece of freshness and texture, creating a symphony of taste in every bite.
Every dish served was a testament to the chef's dedication to quality and perfection. But The Third Space isn't just about outstanding food; it's an experience. The DJ on the night of my visit set the mood with great music, contributing to an amazing vibe that's hard to find elsewhere. This place has a unique charm that makes it stand out in Atlanta's culinary scene.
