I wish I could give this place more stars, it is exactly what a cheesesteak joint should be like. A small no frills restaurant that just makes great food. First things first, 95% of all cheesesteaks taste lousy and are certainly not authentic (yes, even In Philadelphia, Philly has tons of lousy cheesesteaks, sad, but true). Most restaurants that serve cheesesteaks don't even offer Cheez Whiz, which is your first sign something is wrong, and you should do a 180 to the door. Any cheesesteak restaurant worth eating at will offer Cheez Whiz as a topping, this is a fact that should never be ignored, and it is an indispensable ingredient at a true Philly cheesesteak restaurant. Period. Woodys steaks taste great and are exactly what a genuine cheesesteak should look and taste like. I ordered a "Whiz-wit" and what I received was a perfect "Whiz-wit". That alone would have won me over, but the potato wedges were awesome too, and the chocolate malt was darn good. As if that wasn't enough, the price was very reasonable, a little over $20 including the tip. The service was even good, maybe that part isn't authentic, but certainly appreciated nonetheless. In closing, if you are used to the kinda cheesesteak that you get at your average American, jack of all trades restaurant, this is not what you will be served here. These are authentic Philadelphia cheesesteaks, the way they were meant to be. If that isn't your thing and you like the stuff they pass off as authentic at your average eatery, thats fine, you do you, and maybe Woody's won't be your kinda place. But if you want authentic, this is it, it is as good as any cheesesteak I have had anywhere in the country. If you blindfolded me and told me I was eating a cheesesteak on Passyunk in Philly, I wouldn't know otherwise. 6 stars...
Read moreWanted to try this place cause I am a big cheese steak fan. It’s literally across the street from my job, so I ordered the extras which is weird that getting mushrooms and bell peppers on a cheese steak is extra when that’s how their made. Other places ask u if u want those things taken out since that’s the original way. But anywho I paid the extra for cheese, cheese wiz peppers and mushrooms. Once I get my sandwich open it up it’s no cheese wiz so I return and the lady working there acting all annoyed and gives me some cheese wiz but I tell her it’s no mushrooms either and if I paid extra I want them for sure. Well she doesn’t believe me and I open the sandwich to show her and she points out a slice of mushroom in the whole damn foot long… ( and there canned mushrooms which is disrespectful) I paid and extra dollar for a sliver of a mushroom so paid for half a can of mushrooms and got one piece. I despise business that charge extra for everything but it never looks like extra on the meal. I’ll continue getting my cheesesteaks at Philly G slightly cheaper but FULLY loaded. This is a good places for people who don’t care for veggies cause they stingy with the produce. Can yall spot the two...
Read moreFood was wonderful as always ! Receptionist should definitely be replaced. Life is already hard and challenging enough you should not go somewhere to order your food and not be greeted and treated properly. My boyfriend ordered a chicken steak,he was given the wrong order. When I questioned the worker calmly about the situation she tossed blame stating that he did not order a chicken philly. Not one apology was issued or was there any remorse for her mistake just back and forth. While asking the chef to make me another sandwich she still tossed blame as if it was our fault for the mishap. She nastily asked me for the incorrect sandwich (still no apology) and nastily gave it to him by yelling out “EXCUSE ME”. She made my lunch very unpleasant and uncomfortable. Something that was so simple she turned into a problem and I’m sure others are treated this way. As I hadn’t heard her greet anyone that came through the door for the...
