I went to this venue during SxSW and saw the Bourgeois Mystics play, which is a great local band. Which is really the only reason I went there, I'd otherwise not heard of the place, but it was nice. On Congress, in the middle of the madness is this very decent venue. First, entry, you go up a LOT of stairs, enter and there is a bar, with a band playing inside. You can go towards the back and again up some more stairs and discover a nice outdoor patio and bar. This is where the Bourgeois was playing.

Not our first choice for rooftop bars, but it was the first place we started our last evening in Texas! The other place closed it's roof deck on Monday's. When in Texas first beer choice should be Shiner ... it's what you do. I love Shiner regardless of the obligation. We played a round of Connect Four. We killed one beer each only to bounce to the next stop on our self-guided tour of Austin's rooftop bars. Service was friendly, and we didn't use as much as we could've.

Absolutely a great evening. Photo op with the Frost Bank Tower was my plan, met some nice people who worked at Shiner's and a few surrounding areas. It took a little bit to get my food order, the bartender was super nice. Thank you for the step back in time for my genealogy research here as well. Laid back and chill time. Not busy as it was a weeknight. I recommend, I'll definitely return! Thank you, everything was clean too!

Been here twice and love the music and the drinks are good. Really liked the rooftop bar and the amount of games they got up there to keep you entertained.

Went there the last time and had a waitress tell us not to play the punching game because a lady had her service dog there and it was hurting his ears. We put 10 dollars worth in it and got in only two hits, however, we stopped immediately and said sorry about 10 times. The lady with the dog then came up to us and told us she has never spoken to the waitress before and her dog was not a service dog, her date then proceeded to play the arcade with us.

The waitress passed by and pushed the punching bag machine to waste our game.

If she didn’t want us to play it she could have told us to not do it but lying and blaming it on a lady was wrong. What if we were drunk a holes and started being mean to the lady with the dog for no reason?

Again, great atmosphere, but that waitress/bar tender was...

A nice little spot for music and drinks (they also serve food but I didn't get to try any of it so I can't speak on it). I went to some of the bigger name places for music in Austin, but I liked the vibe at Shiner's a lot better, a little more down home and the music was more fun and relatable. I went on a Tuesday so Phil Luna was playing and he was really entertaining to listen to (he played a nice variety and had a really fun atmosphere). Overall a great spot, not sure why it didn't come up on any searches I did but I heard the music from the street and took a chance and it was a...

Horrible, horrible service. Not sure how the overall rating is 4.4. Honestly, pretty upset I didn't read more reviews. Went to the upstairs patio bar, extremely rude bartender who basically didn't speak, answering in nods only. No plates provided. 5 of us sitting, only 3 sets of utensils given. I have no words, but I have all the words...never, ever had an experience like this. It's laughable.

The only saving grace, was the food that we actually did order....was pretty tasty. but NOT...
