Francois' was the right place for us to try Haitian cuisine for the first time.
We ordered: 2 Fried Goat entrees each with a side of banan peze/tostones (double fried green plantain that's flattened in between both frying periods) 1 side of Haitian mac & cheese 1 entree had white rice the other had diri dion djon (black mushroom rice with green peas but with the physical mushrooms later removed after it's done cooking and lending its dark color to the dish-hopefully I'm remembering the explanation correctly when I asked what it was).
2 garnishes: Seasoned black bean sauce (or maybe it was some of the diri dion djon sauce). Spicy pickled cabbage, white onions, same bell peppers.
Verdict: Husband loved everything except the spicy pickled veggies (not a fan of too much spiciness). He gave a rare A+ rating.
I loved everything. It was all well seasoned and certainly made with love. We both really enjoy goat meat in general and at Francois' it was tender on the inside and well crispy on the outside. 🤤 chef's kiss
Service was great. Food was fried fresh to order.
We'll definitely be back to continue supporting this fine establishment and hope it continues to be a thriving business!
Decor: I appreciated the bright beautiful painted colors of the Haitian flag throughout the restaurant. 🇭🇹 Very inviting vibe.
We ordered ours to go as there are about 2-4 high chair seats only at the front-facing window. We visited 1/14/24, a Sunday, during which there is free street...

Read moreCraving authentic Haitian food, I made a special trip from DC to Baltimore after hearing so many positive reviews about Francios Caribbean Cuisine—and it did not disappoint. From the moment I stepped inside, I was warmly welcomed by the owner and chef, Martin, whose passion for his craft is evident in every dish.
While I waited for my order, Martin graciously let me sample the fried turkey with Pikliz, and it was incredible. The turkey was crispy and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the spicy Pikliz.
For my main order, I chose the Kabrit (fried goat), which was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Diri Djon Djon (black rice) was rich and aromatic, pairing beautifully with the Pikliz. The Bannann Peze (fried plantains) added a satisfying crunch, and the side of legume was a hearty and delicious addition.
I also tried the Haitian Cheese Steak, served on soft Cocoa Bread, which added a unique sweetness to the sandwich. Paired with more of those irresistible plantains on the side, each bite was a perfect blend of flavors that transported me straight to the Caribbean.
Francios Caribbean Cuisine offers a true taste of Haiti with authentic dishes that are full of flavor and love. I can’t wait to...
