I decided to try this restaurant for lunch based on recommendation from friends. I usually frequent Dukems for Ethiopian food. My experience at Tibers was very good with service and The food was very fresh and tasty. However upon being presented with the check was where there were serious concerns which everyone should be aware of. If you ever go to this restaurant be aware the owner charges a 18% service fee on top of the expected gratuity for the service staff. I questioned this and the General Manager stated they get many complaints regarding this. If you pay waitstaff a gratuity of 20%. Doubting the 9% tax You are in essence paying 47% of the cost of the food in service fees, tax and tip. This is almost criminal for ownership to charge. Needless to say I will NOT be going back or supporting this restaurant because of this erroneous “service fee”. I do not recommend any one pay this as it is “highway” robbery. Dukems Restaurant is Just as good or better and more credible and honest with billing. Shame on ownership for taking advantage of this.

The food was great, but the wait time was long. The overall cleanliness also left a bit to be desired. We switched tables because there was a little gunk on the booth seats. The other table also had really low chairs for some reason, where we both sunk in and felt like children or hobbits at the table. As mentioned, the food was great and, quality-wise, has no complaints from me (side note: water is a bottle of Deer Park). However, when we ordered some extra Injera to go, as well as when we handed them our payment, it took another 20 mins or so to get everything back. Mind you, this is not a big place, and it wasn't packed. We reminded our waitress, but she seemed to have completely forgotten our credit cards and our injera. After some time passed, we left and walked back home, satisfied by the food, but disinclined to come back for another experience. Food: 4/5. Overall: 3/5.

My best friend is Ethiopian and her mom makes authentic food weekly. I love it each time. I was craving so I thought why not give one of these restaurants a try. I chose this location because of reviews and the good pricing. My experience all around was great. The guy I placed my order with on the phone was friendly and helpful. He helped me decide between two dishes. I chose the doro wot platter. It is the main ethiopian dish and the white on the top right is made out of cheese n milk its like feta cheese but a diff flavor n taste. The chicken was so tender and the meal its self was very flavorable . I wished it was a little spicer. I should have asked for berbere. Regardless I was full, satisfied and would go back.

March 2024 update: I have changed my review back to 5-stars after 2 years of a decline in flavor and quantity. The food flavors are amazing again (don't let the new chef leave). But the carryout quantity given is inconsistent -- twice they gave me a lot and 3 times they didn't. The price has gone up at least 20% in 4 years. Parking on the street is Pay-to-Park at a kiosk with coins or card at $1.25 an hour on the same block or cheaper if you go 1 block up; May 2022 Update: Despite seeing the recent negative review about a small carryout portion size, I decided to roll the dice. Unfortunately, she was right. The carryout portion is 1/3- 1/2 less food than 2021. Because their menu prices were already increased 15%+ in 2021, it would be too much to increase them again, so I assume the carryout portion size has now been decreased dramatically instead. I doubt I'll be going back. So sad how both restaurants and consumers are affected by price increases; March 2022 Update: The chef has clearly changed in the past few months, unfortunately. It's not as good as it was before. The greens and beets are now milled down to a fine pulp, whereas before they were chunky, and recognizable, which was visually and texturally more appealing. Most importantly, the flavors have changed (spice wise) and are not as good. Bring back the old chef! Interior design wise, the renovations look great; 2020-21 review: We get carryout from here monthly now during the pandemic. The vegetarian sampler options are really satisfying with so many flavors. Sometimes they have everything listed on the menu and other times they are out of collard greens or beets. Call ahead to make sure they are open before stopping by. This is the best Ethiopian we have found in Baltimore. You can pay by cash or credit card. Despite the area being a bit sketchy, we have never...

I visited Tabor Ethiopian as part of Baltimore's Vegan Weekend in February. The menu looked great, and we were excited. Things didn't go as planned. We were seated at a table that hadn't fully been cleaned. The server (only one working the floor at the time, as far as I could see) forgot about my husband's drink order, and took a long time to come around to get our dinner order.

We'd been seated at least 30 minutes by the time our appetizer (Veggie Sambusas) arrived. While they tasted great, the middles were still partially frozen. I called the server over to our table, and she literally told me that, no, they weren't cold in the middle. We had to insist that she put her finger in the middle of one to feel before she'd believe us, and asked that she bring out a fully-cooked, new order. She reluctantly took them back to the kitchen, but then brought out the same plate a few minutes later, including the sambusa she's stuck her finger in. At this point, we were so frustrated we decided to leave. We firmly but politely told the server we were leaving and why, and asked for the check for my husband's beer. She didn't understand, and eventually got her manager (another few minutes). He tried to get us to stay as well, didn't seem too concerned about the terrible service, and wouldn't bring us the check, said that our food was almost ready, and told us to wait, walked off. We left some cash for the beer, and walked out.

Awful service, would...
