DO NOT GET THE CRUSHES! The bartender at the crush station by the event entrance should be fired. Despite a very manageable amount of people at the crush station ordering drinks, she continuously ignored my fiancée and I while we patiently & calmly faced her, the same as the other patrons. She would (slowly) serve multiple groups of people just walking up, many of whom very clearly walked up after us.
She mixes drinks at a glacial pace as well and I'm fairly certain she was lying to customers about being out of certain items but at the end of the day, I can tolerate a lazy or incompetent bartender if that's all it is. Nope, she got much worse.
We gave a massive amount of time and kept assuming the best and giving her the benefit of the doubt until it was impossible to any longer- the bar was down to just us standing blatantly in front of her eyeline.
By now, our attempts to be served had escalated to us very clearly but politely leaning into the bar holding cash while attempting to get her attention case the half dozen walkups who jumped us over the long period we spent there were somehow caused by a lack of awareness that we wanted to order. You wouldn't expect getting noticed to be difficult given her confinement to a roughly 9' by 9' station and a long history of pleasant interactions with bartenders. She stalled for ages as time stretched on.
Finally, as a single individual walked up next to us at the bar, she addressed them immediately for their order. My fiancée, the most patient & pleasant person in the world, involuntarily slammed her hand down on the counter which I've never seen her do while simply stating "this is ridiculous" in an exasperated tone. We have worked in the service industry and both have the utmost respect for bartenders and their ilk but this was just too blatantly over the line disrespectful as well as a massive waste of time for 2 people who just desperately wanted a drink after a 40 minute Uberb ride. As we walked away, the bartender was staring daggers directly at us, appearing hostile and aggressive while speaking badly about us to the other patron.
The service elsewhere here is slow as hell but they will eventually acknowledge and get to you and are dealing with far more people while being incredibly fair, respectful, and pleasant as they do their best to honor whose turn it is. The venue could have made significantly more money off of us if we weren't stuck at their least busy bar with their least professional bartender and could make more money with literally anyone else working. Fortunately we found an attentive bartender deeper inside, but the venue made a poor first impression for my fiancée's first time here and they definitely lost out on money from us given the wasted time during which we would have bought several drinks each.
If you read this venting about my worst experience trying to order a drink at a location filled with bars and alcohol stations, I applaud you. If you skipped to the end, the bartender at the crush station is a rude, discriminating, churlish, incompetent, boorish, dim-witted, violent, waste of a human who made me reevaluate my view on the sunken cost fallacy. The music, atmosphere, and security otherwise was excellent at least. But it's insane how hard it is to get drinks served at a location packed with people...
Read moreDefinitely not a bad area to spend your evening, but it isn't anything like it used to be. I visited this place a few years ago, and was hoping to show my husband how much fun it had been to come here 12 years ago -- a lot had changed. The area was pretty deserted, for a weekend, and had hardly anything fun to do at all. I remember crowds, amazing live music, dance floors crowded with people, lively games, comfy+cool swings, mechanical-bull-riding and one cover charge to get into an array of different fun nightclubs. Only a few of the locations were still open, but they weren't nightclubs, anymore: they were mostly sports bars, and without any pool, darts or anything else to play -- well, aside from the pay-to-play touch-screen computer games. There was no live music in any of these sports bars and it was the weekend. After some searching at different places I did find someplace other than a "sports bar", and the mechanical bull! However...it was being used as a show to lure in guys: a scantily-clad bartender rode it (the bartenders took shifts doing this, it seemed), and there was an option to pay to ride it with her. There's nothing...wrong with that, but it did seem like entirely the wrong setting -- since we weren't at a strip club and the place was lit up like a mall or something... The overly bright lights of this place, coupled with the location's complete lack people made this look even LESS appealing, aesthetically. You could clearly see the entire location's population of 8 single male customers reduced to drooling, sweaty guys, in full, very brightly lit 4K, Ultra HD -- who could also clearly, uncomfortably, see each other 🤣😂(not these guys' fault, I definitely blane the lighting and the completely wrong atmosphere) This was just.. not a great look, is all I'm saying. At least put a spotlight on the bull, dim the surrounding lights, make the place an actual strip club IDK do something! Lol. Back in the day, the customers could take turns trying to ride the bull for free... This place also did not have live music. There was a dance floor, but nobody was on it. The dance floor was also very brightly lit (not even in different colors). I can't believe that none of these remaining locations here didn't at least have darts, shuffleboard, pool...something. Nobody was dancing, and there wasn't any live music. I was pretty sad that I couldn't show my husband what an amazing hotspot this had been 15 years ago, now. If you're looking for some quiet places to go watch your favorite sports team on decent televisions, without a lot of people, and you don't mind if the place looks a little bit run-down then check out these sports bars. Or, if you're interested in paying to ride a mechanical bull with a scantily-clad bartender -- or watching other people pay to do this (in a location with the atmosphere of a Golden Buffet), then you might find a good time here 🤔😁.
** Obviously these locations have probably changed a lot since I last visited about 3 or 4 years ago, so perhaps they've made some awesome changes, I don't know 🙂. I suggest reading all of the more recent, therefore relevant, reviews before evaluating my own -- I'm just recording the experience that I had here several years ago, because in some ways it was...
Read moreI was the sober one in our group of friends. We were all having a great time at PBR for a couple of hours. Everyone was dancing, spending money, tipping the bartenders at least $5 per drink, and just enjoying ourselves! It wasn’t until we moved over to Mosaic that the night was ruined. A friend of mine tried to use the restroom, but was blocked by a security member who essentially got in the door frame and just stood in our way. He then proceeded to interrogate my friend and accused him of being disorderly and overly drunk. After this, we were too shocked to really even understand what was going on, when he decided to have my friend kicked out. It is important to note that no one in our group of five had gotten a drink for over half an hour, and no one was even holding any sort of container at the time.
As my friend was being escorted out, I attempted to get some answers on what was happening, but the security team was extremely rude and disrespectful. Rather than explain anything, they repeated the same statement over and over again, like a broken record. They then began to threaten to kick me out, the sober designated driver, simply for trying to ask for an explanation and grounds for kicking my friend out. I asked numerous times to speak to their supervisor, but they rudely answered that I can wait outside “for hours” until this person was able to meet with me. After having the security team take turns screaming at me, I finally told them there was no need to be so disrespectful and rude and to stop speaking to me in that tone. Some other security guard by the entrance told the screamer to return to his post, so it seemed he would be helpful. Upon trying to speak with him, he proceeded to tell me he doesn’t have to tell me anything and that I was already given an answer (except I wasn’t, which was the whole problem). He then decided that it was time to kick me out, simply because he didn’t have an answer for me and didn’t want to deal with the situation. I was forced to leave my three other friends, who I was the designated driver for inside Power Plant, even though I had their phones in my pockets and couldn’t get in contact with them. This then put them in an unsafe situation. To top everything off, due to getting kicked out, I was not able to get my parking validated, so I had to pay $14 at Pier V.
Everything about the way this situation was handled was extremely unprofessional and unwarranted. Never have I witnessed someone get prevented from using the restroom by a security guard, then get kicked out for literally doing nothing. That bouncer was obviously having a rough night and we became his targets. I will never return to Power Plant again, and will tell everyone I know to avoid it...
