I tried this restaurant for the one and only time tonight. While eating, a man asked me and some other patrons for money. I don't carry cash, but I offered to buy this man a meal with my credit card, and he accepted. As this was unfolding, an employee approached him and asked him to leave. I explained that I was going to buy him a meal and that he could join my family to eat. The employee told me that they would make his meal to go, and the man graciously accepted the situation. I went to the counter to order, but there were a couple of people in front of me so I had a short wait. By the time I got to the counter, the woman taking the order apologized and told me that her boss informed her that she was not allowed to sell me food to give to the person in need. I had already promised my son an order of chicken to go (we had a very long drive home), so I ordered his kid's meal and figured I would just go somewhere else to buy this other person some food. However, when I asked for my child's meal to go (we had originally been dining in the restaurant), the woman got visibly annoyed with me. It occurred to me that she thought I was giving the food to the person in need! The man wasn't making a scene. He was quiet and respectful. I understand that his appearance and behavior was most likely making some people uncomfortable. However, I was paying for the food upfront and he agreed to eat outside. What kind of heinous, despicable people deny food to someone in need? I was a paying customer, and I should be able to do whatever I want with the food that I was purchasing. (As a side note, the person explained to me that he had taken chemo therapy for cancer treatment and it ruined his pancreas and now he was a Type 1 diabetic). Their food is very well made and incredibly tasty, but I'll never step foot in their establishment again after their horrific treatment of a person in need and the customer trying to help.
(EDIT/REPLY: Dear Owner, I'm so glad you keep the safety of your customers and employees as a top priority. Unfortunately that protocol also failed yesterday when you sent an unhoused person to the street to wait for me (and my small child) to bring him food. Your employees, the person in need, and I came to a resolution that he would wait outside while I purchased his meal. When I was not able to purchase him any food from your establishment, my son and I were forced to meet him and explain the situation to him ourselves outside on the street where he was actively waiting and looking for me. I was a woman eating alone with a small child. Do you honestly think sending a man outside to wait for me to bring him food and then not allowing me to purchase the food for him was the 'safest solution' in this scenario? Thankfully this person was not aggressive. He was as calm and sincere outside your restaurant as he was inside your restaurant. I understand you have a general protocol because unhoused persons can often make customers uncomfortable and that's bad for business. However, I hope this makes you question your ethics towards the safety and dignity of others, because right now it has some gaps in its logic. Let's all be better humans...
Read moreNo matter how good the food is, customer service and not discriminating against customers is a minimum and it's not here.
I stopped in here with my 3 brothers yesterday evening after seeing a movie at Harbor East. We were looking forward to something different for dinner, and unfortunately, that's what we got was discriminationatory service for over $70.
We were treated like an inconvenience to the woman at the counter from the moment we walked in. It was just before 9pm. This womans behavior was bad enough that another patron commented on the interaction he witnessed and told the woman she shouldn't behave that way.
First, we're told it would be 40 mins before we could sit down and eat. This was said without checking with anyone just flat out as if it were a fact (in hindsight, this was just said to deter us from eating in at all. There was nothing she had to go off of to make that statement). Literally, while still talking to her, a table appears to start to get up, and we ask if we can eat in and sit there. She says yes, but we'll put your food in to go boxes. Weird given, we now have a place to sit and asked ti eat in, but we sat regardless. But ultimately, I went back to request that our food just be made for here, and we can get boxes if we need them. She insisted no that she couldn't, said because they close at 10pm and that's not allowed after 9:30pm. However, the table sitting to our left had food brought out to them right after she left our table to say we could not. Our food came out not even 3 mins later, in to go boxes, and was just dropped on our table, with nothing said. Just rude and offputting. I'm absolutely annoyed at this point and ready to go.
We ordered 3 mango Lassi drinks that were not given to us. When I go to the counter to ask, she cuts me off and points to the fountain drink station, literally waving me off telling me to go over there. Very rude. When I reiterated that she needed to provide them, her tone and expression got flat-out aggressive. This is what prompted the other patron to speak up after he witnessed the exchange.
I spent over $70 here and still couldn't bring myself to eat the food last night. The experience left that bad of a taste in my mouth. We did not look like everyone else who was so pleasantly served and catered to at this establishment, and I can't help but feel like that played a major role here. I can't spend my money somewhere that clearly does not respect ALL of their paying customers. It's disgraceful and...
Read moreWent here with my family, 6 adults/2 kids/1 baby. We ordered a bunch of food family style so people could try a bit of everything, except 1 dish which we ordered with no spice for the baby. We were assured it wouldn't be spicy, but unfortunately that was not the case (even I found it spicy). They would not remake it. Then 2 of the same dish came out so of course we sent one back thinking it was a mistake even though there was only ever 1 or 2 other tables in the restaurant at the same time. When paying at the order counter I saw the total amount which was a bit high but didn't think too much of it because we ordered quite a few dishes. I also found it odd that the cashier quickly canceled the screen after the payment went through so I didn't get a chance to pick a receipt option (normally I don't get one printed anyway so I didn't bother with it then). After the duplicate dish had come out I started to wonder if the bill was high because they maybe charged us twice for it. We went back to the cashier to get a printed receipt and it turns out not only did they charge us 2 of the same dishes but the price for every dish and drink was $1 higher than advertised. Prices were advertised in multiple places so obviously this was not a case of outdated menus nor were there any signs for surcharges for any particular reason. These practices are actually ILLEGAL. The cashier couldn't help us at all and said the manager would get in touch with us to address the situation since he wasn't in. It took a few days to finally connect after multiple attempts to contact the restaurant ourselves. We received a refund on the extra dish and all the extra $1 charges, nothing even for the spicy dish or the trouble. Terrible shame because the food was pretty decent, I just advise you protect yourselves from the...
