I visited this cozy little Thai place last week in Bar Harbor. It is a small place with 10 tables I guess. It is a clean, well maintained place though. The menu offers a blend of a variety of vegetarian and meat dishes. We started with their crispy veg spring rolls 🫔🫔 they were pretty good, one order has 4 spring rolls (usually restaurants have at least 6 per order) so it was enough for 2 people for an appetizer. Since we were not as much hungry, we decided to share a Thai basil fried rice 🥡🥢, and the portion size was a little underwhelming for the price we were paying for the food. The taste was good though. However, you must order 2 entrees if you go hungry. We ended our dinner with their Thai cold coffee, which was delicious 🧋and I loved every bit of it. Since it is a tourist place I can understand why it must be expensive. It was a good one time visit. Liked it. The staff is awesome, very knowledgeable and friendly people. If you like spicy food do ask them for their Thai paprika and hot oil, you won’t be disappointed 😜

I was craving Thai food. And this was the only game in town. We arrived for lunch around 1 and they weren’t very busy. So we were seated immediately. The server was good. The pricing was fair for veggies and tofu. I felt like the appetizers were pretty over priced so we didn’t order any. $10 for veggie spring rolls is a lot in my book. And I’m VERY picky about spring rolls. So if they had been frozen, this would be a very bad review. lol. My wife ordered the Cashew Nut dish with tofu. I ordered the Pud Woonsen. We both felt like the lunch portion sizes were a little small. But they were still ok. My food was DELICIOUS. I like spicy so I ordered mine at level 4 out of 5. It was spicy and perfect for me. My wife ordered a level 3 and said that she didn’t think they added any heat at all. All in all, I’d definitely eat here again. But the portions and pricing leave a little to be desired.

We were provoked by the behavior of the staff at the restaurant. We were already waiting to be seated and noticed that there was an empty table, so we asked the staff if that table was reserved and were told no. When we inquired why we couldn't be seated, we were met with a rude response indicating that they didn’t have enough staffs to run this restaurant, and “if you didn’t want to wait, you can leave”. Despite our attempts to explain our confusion, the staff member maintained a disrespectful attitude, repeatedly saying if we were unwilling to wait then we should leave. The situation escalated when she made a derogatory comment as “I’m speaking in English, I’m not sure whether you guys can understand”. Feeling attacked, we chose to leave. We believe customers should consider whether they wish to support a restaurant that exhibits such disrespect and racist behavior.

I’m writing this review concerning the professionalism and customer service at Siam Orchid. My boyfriend and I ordered takeout from here on the Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. I ordered shrimp Pad Thai and he ordered the bail fried rice with chicken. Once we ordered he immediately paid them and tipped them $7 in good faith even though it was takeout. He then went to the bathroom and I proceeded to try to order 2 bubble teas for us as a surprise because it’s his birthday weekend and bubble tea is his favorite drink. I explained to the lady at the register that I am looking for the bubble teas to be decaffeinated and asked her what my options were. She replied that the bubble teas were tea with milk. That didn’t answer my question but I proceeded to order two bubble teas anyway. Another woman then proceeded to start to make the bubble tea. While watching I realized that there were decaffeinated options after the first was finished. Though it was not made the way I would have wanted if they were clear about the various options they had, I thanked the maker, kept the caffeinated one for myself then instructed her on how to make the other one for my boyfriend. After making his she tired to charge me again for the second. However, I corrected her and she apologized. No big issue so far. I just smiled and thanked her for the drinks. Right after that the woman who was at the cash register walked over to us and handed my boyfriend the bag of food directly in his hand. We thanked them and left. We immediately headed to our car and left for our hotel to eat. At this time my boyfriend told me that the tapioca balls in the bubble tea had a sandy element to them and seemed stale. But again not a big deal to us and we continued to our hotel. We arrived and immediacy set out to eat our food. To our dismay upon opening the bag for the first time we found that the order was completely wrong. They gave us 2 noodle dishes and one tray of dumplings. He has certain food restrictions and could not eat the food they gave to us so we immediately headed back to the restaurant but found it closed. We knocked on the door three times and a gentleman came from the back of the restaurant to address this situation. We handed him back the food they gave us and I asked about the food that we ordered. He called the woman from earlier back in and they came back but we didn’t feel comfortable with the situation and so my boyfriend asked for a refund. The gentleman immediately gave it to us. When we left there all suitable restaurants that he could eat from due to his food restrictions were closed. We eventually gave up after looking and looking and went to sleep hungry. My boyfriend was very angry the next morning upon reflecting on what a mess that night quest to find food had been especially considering this vacation was his birthday weekend treat. So, he wrote an honest review here on google. Affiliates of this restaurant then looked for him on social media and tried to manipulate him into taking down his review by trying to guilt and shame him for leaving a bad review on an immigrant run business. He has no reason to be ashamed for his review because it is our right to give honest reviews on this platform. That’s what it’s for. He is also an immigrant from South America who spent his hard earned money (and he also has his own financial struggles as an immigrant who has a very strong foreign accent) on a service that was suppose to provide the food that he ordered and paid for. He even tipped a little extra in good faith and trusted them enough to leave without checking the bag. The correct and appropriate action after reviewing that bad review should have been for the restaurant management to communicate with their staff to ask customers questions about how they want their bubble teas if they are not sure and have a phone number system in place so that if in the future there is a mistake with the orders at least they can call the customers back right away. They should not be trying to shame and/or guilt...

I wish I could write a better review. Looking at the pictures of previous diner's experiences, I'm not sure what has happened this summer, but our experience was awful. We walked into what we thought was a sit down restaurant with servers. We had to order our food at the counter like at a Panera and were given a pager. When our food was ready, it wasn't served on plates, but in take out containers with plastic utensils and we weren't even given any plates - we had to ask for them and were given some tin take out containers to eat out of. All the plastic waste - this place is not at all environmentally friendly. To top things off, the person who took my husband's credit card didn't give it back (we were tired after a 14 hour drive to arrive in BH) and we didn't notice until we went to check into our hotel. We were sitting right in the restaurant - why didn't she bring it over to us? Fortunately when we went back, it was found under some other items on a shelf near the register, scary. The red chicken curry we ordered was average, the crispy pad thai was not good. I can't recommend this place at all. I took a picture of our dinner in take out containers, but for some reason Google won't let...

First off, with all due respect, for all of y’all who think this restaurant is so good, Y’all really haven’t had any good Thai food, period. I came here thinking it’s a legit Thai food restaurant because of the rating, I ordered drunken noodle and a few side dishes. The side dishes were just okay but man the noodle was horrible...I don’t think they even know how to make authentic drunken noddle. It’s far from good! They cooked it with tomato paste which I don’t even think they should. Not only that but the tomato paste is so strong and sour that you couldn’t really taste anything else. I know you probably shouldn’t judge a restaurant by just one dish, but this dish is just a simple but classic Thai dish, it says a lot about a restaurant. It’s just unacceptable that it killed your desire to come again seriously. I sat outside because the restaurant has a weird smell, the smell that you just immediately realize that they don’t clean that often, the smell that the dirt soaked into the floor carpet and even the wall. Yikes! Anyways, wouldn’t come back again. The service was good tho, that’s the only reason I even give them a 2 star rating. This place is...
