Stopped in for lunch while on a cruise. The menu appears to have a nice offering of different items. The restaurant is large and fairly roomy. We got a hamburger, lobster/crab dip, and the corned beef sandwich. Overall, the food was pretty good, but not quite to 5-star level. The rye bread was burned a bit on my corned beef sandwich, and there was a lot of seasoning on the lobster/crab dip. So much seasoning it could almost be imitation crab and the seasoning could mask the taste. It wasn't imitation crab, just saying there was A LOT of seasoning on it. The burger had good flavor, but the bun got soggy fast. So much so, the burger couldn't be finished. Service was marginal. We were sat fairly quickly, able to order reasonably fast, but waited probably 20-25 min for food. Once the food came, drinks were topped off once, and we never saw our server after that. We had to flag someone down to get our check. Generally speaking, when we've had our plates cleared and the server sees a nearly untouched entree (lobster/crab dip), they ask of something was wrong. No observations here. They just cleared the plates and brought the check. In summary I don't regret eating here, but it wasn't good enough to earn all of my business every time. There are a lot of other restaurants withing walking distance. I'd def try one of them next time.

This restaurant is traditionally Irish from the name, atmosphere, and the selection of Stout. Where it differs though is the implementation of local Maine cuisine, which means lobster. For my starter I opted for the Lobster Bisque, which is a very thick, creamy, lobster soup with a very rich flavor. While delicious, due to its richness and size, you may want to have this as an entree. For my main course I had the lobster roll, which came with your standard (but excellently executed) truffle fries, which weren’t very truffle-y though, but also some delicious spicy sliced pickles. This can be gotten either hot with butter, or cold with mayonnaise which I ordered. While it was Definetly good, I couldn’t distinguish its flavors very well after just having lobster bisque. For desert I had the bread pudding served with Vanilla Ice Cream, and had a candied pecan, rolled chocolate pieces on top, and rum-soaked raisins which helped add to the flavor. It also comes with a Carmel sauce which is drizzled over top. Overall nice atmosphere, and great service also. We dined on a Thursday evening when the wait time was well over an hour for most restaurants, and Paddy’s used a text message system to tell me when a table was ready, which was about 35 minutes later, so I took this opportunity to walk around the downtown area and window shop.

My recent visit this is Irish restaurant was a pleasant culinary journey. I decided to try the fish dish, and it was an excellent choice. The fish was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and tender, flaky interior. It was seasoned just right, enhancing the natural flavors of the fish without overwhelming it. The accompanying side dishes, including mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables, were equally well-prepared, adding a wholesome touch to the meal. To quench my thirst, I ordered a mocktail. It was a delightful blend of various fruit juices with a hint of fizz, offering a refreshing and non-alcoholic alternative. The mocktail's presentation was also quite impressive, served in a stylish glass with a garnish that made it visually appealing. The restaurant's ambiance was inviting, with a cozy and with options to dine outside as well. The service was attentive, and the staff was knowledgeable about the menu, providing recommendations and answering any questions I had. This contributed to the overall positive dining experience. In conclusion, my experience at this Irish restaurant was a memorable one. You should visit if are in Bar Harbour

My original review was removed so here it is again:

My family and I were visiting Bar Harbor from out of town and thought we'd have a nice dinner on our last night. While the food was decent, the service was not. We asked to be sat outside but they said they had no room for a party of 6. Totally fine. We were instead sat inside in this dark corner. I noticed two families had just left outside so I asked the host if we could move to the patio. He said they could not sit 6 people at one table (there are 4 seats), nor could they have us split 3 people each to two tables. Thought it was a bit weird, but fine. Then we asked a different host if we could move to the booth inside that was at least facing the open patio. The host said he had to ask his manager for some reason, who said no. I would've understood if our food had already come out, but it didn't yet so I didn't really see the problem. We stopped bothering and just ate our food and finished.

However, as we were leaving we noticed there was a family of 6 sat outside on the patio at one table. We also realized the patio extended even further so there were actually way more than enough tables for us to have been sat outside...

While we were eating we half-jokingly said maybe it's because we're an Asian family that we're treated with such poor service, but gave them the benefit of the doubt. But after seeing the other family of 6 that was sat outside with no problem, it seemed blatantly obvious.

I'm not one to write a bad review (or any reviews really) but this experience just left a bad taste in my mouth. With that being said though, I want to point out that our server, Keith, was great. It was the hosts' and manager's service that was...

Always walked by this place and finally decided to give it a try. The ambiance was very nice. Dim lighting and music was a good volume.

My husband ordered a cocktail and I ordered a glass of wine. The cocktail was pretty good! The waitress came back 5-10 mins later and said they were out of the wine I chose, so I ordered a different one. 10 minutes later, when I was partway through dinner, the waitress came back and said they didn't have that wine either. At this point I figured if I was going to wait another 10 minutes for the wine, I wasn't really going to be having it with my food anyway, so it wasn't worth it. All fine, not a big deal.

The food - very mediocre. It came out less than 10 minutes after we ordered it which I thought was weird. Calling it warm would be a stretch - not sure how they were able to cook my salmon ($35) to order (medium) with it being just barely warm. The potatoes and veggies were good, but it was cold and underseasoned, as was my husband's 24 hour braised beef short rib ($40).

We got there at 8:30pm, after calling to confirm that the kitchen closed at 9 and the rest closed at 10. The restaurant was pretty busy still at this time. But the vacuum cleaner was going in the hallway by hostess stand right after we sat down, making it difficult to hear each other talk.

The staff were very friendly. They seemed pretty understaffed like many restaurants right now, but the staff were very nice.

I don't normally give bad reviews, and I guess I should have expected this from a tourist-trappy type place, but I wish we had...
