Wat da Pho is in a larger location now a couple doors down, with nearly double the seating capacity of the previous location, and I'm thrilled they are filling it as well. Really good atmosphere, the servers are attentive, and of course the pho is terrific. I wish I could tell you about other dishes....but I can't get myself to not order the beef pho (pholicious), and the mrs always orders the chicken pho.
For context, I have traveled to Vietnamese 8 times, and I learned that I love pho (noodle soup). After a few trips, I started avoiding pho at the hotels I was staying at, because the best pho was at the street restaurants. Most places in the states remind me of that hotel pho... So far there are only a couple places I've been to that have the same flavor I loved. One is Mi Li near Worthington, which has the "rare beef" experience, where the broth is essentially what cooks the thinly sliced beef. The other is here at Wat da Pho.
The centerpiece of pho is the broth, which shouldn't be just broth. My experience here is consistently great pho, a clean restaurant, and...
Read moreI went there for lunch; my first time there. It was busy for the lunch rush.
The bbq pork sandwich appetizer was flavorful. It seemed like cilantro was just thrown in there as a garnish or afterthought.
Ordered the vietnamese coffee - it wasn't as strong as I expected.
I also ordered the thai milk tea, which was delicious.
The last thing I ordered was the banh mi sandwich - the 1st option. It was really good, and the bread is perfect.
I plan to go back to try the pho!
Update July 31, 2022 Their chicken pho is good. I have since tried their authentic spicy lemongrass pho and that is amazing. Spicy enough to add flavor and make you sweat, but not overwhelmingly spicy. Also, my boyfriend loves their popping boba in different flavors. For the prices, their food is still worth it.
Update Dec 26, 2022 They are still serving delicious food. My boyfriend ordered the pork vermicelli noodles today and it was a lot of food. They accommodated his request for no nuts on...
Read moreI RARELY review a place, but we went here because we like pho and there are few places with it, also because we had a coupon in the mail.
The meals were not pricey at all even without a coupon. The bean sprouts were incredibly fresh and crisp, no slimey texture or browning. The cilantro and basil were vibrantly green and super fresh, better than what I buy at kroger or dlm.
And the staff was excellent! I have a 1 year old and it gets tough going out to places and hoping there is something on the menu to accommodate him. The women were so friendly, I wish I would've caught our waitress's name as she brought out a small bowl of rice, a small plate of fruit pieces, and even a little wafer cookie for him. He was so happy with it all it made it super easy for us to eat and he seemed extra pleased that someone acknowledged him.
Also, the decor was really neat!
I would definitely...
